You cant just say..okay ill believe in that then...nope! go to a friend whos a christian or a pastor or curch and ask for some information on what its like being a christian and what you NEED to be a christian!

CHRIST = HEAVEN! (awsome!)

NO CHRIST = HELL! (living in eternity in suffering)

You don't need to follow an organized religion to be spiritual. You don't have to believe in a deity of any sort, nor follow any rules created thousands of years ago. Create your own guidelines, and adhere to them. Study other religions, take what you like, and create something you can grow off of.

I really dislike the concept of following an organized religion, because you are not expressing your own beliefs, you are following the beliefs of others. Just because a book says it doesn't make it true. Just because a friend says it doesn't make it true.

Some religions don't bother with any sort of deity; they are just simple guidelines to help you live a fulfilling, positive life. Find one and build off of it. Also, do not let others sway you with their religious beliefs. If you listen to others beliefs, you won't be creating your own individual opinion. Don't listen to anyone who tells you there are consequences for not following their particular religion. You are not going to hell because you don't accept Christ, no matter how many times a Christian tells you so. The very thought that someone could be so close-minded as to think that what someone else told them is the absolute truth, and that anyone who says differently is wrong, makes me sick.

I think that no one knows the right answer to whether or not there is a higher power. Anyone who says differently is just telling themself that in an effort to make themself feel better. I guess some people think that if they repeat it to themself enough it will evbentually become true.

Enough about me looking down on religious fanatics. You have my answer. Use it as you will.

You should take some time to explore different options. Attend worship services of various faiths, read books on religions and cultures, talk to people about why they hold their faith. It's wonderful to be able to study religion with an open mind, take the opportunity to learn as much as you can. Perhaps you'll find that you don't fit into one particular faith, but that you find truth in parts of all of them, or that you disagree with something in all of them. There are spiritual communities, Unitarian Universalists being the largest, that are dedicated to finding truth in all lines of thought and learning new things. Unitarian Universalists actually practice various religions, or no religion, within the same congregation. Perhaps a more open community like that would be positive for you right now.

Go to church with someone, and if you can't just go by yourself.God loves you, and he always will. I'm personally Lutheran(its still Christian, but different than Baptist)and always have been. Say a prayer, He will always listen, and help, even if its not the way you think. Like I said, God loves you, has loved you, and always will love you. He sent his only son to die on the cross for YOUR sins. He went through a living hell for you, just so you could be with him in heaven. If you need any help, send me a message at rOcKiN4GoD2010 hope i helped!

Go to church with a friend, especially at a time when they're doing some kind of fun thing (ski trip, scavenger hunt, whatever...). That way you can ease into it. It won't be awkward. You can have fun but get the spiritual part of it too. And then if you decide you like the church and the people, start going regularly!

Well, I am a Catholic Christian, but I suggest that you don't become one, because you will find several things that contradict each other and probably make you frustrated with the religion. Long ago American Indians worshipped the sun and moon because they brought light to help crops grow and light during the night to help them harvest even on late nights. That is kind of interesting, too. A faith I have always wanted to try is Buddhism. It is much like worshipping the Sun because that is the source of our life. You do a series of stretches and yoga exercises to emphasize the belief and to relax you. Strong Buddhists believe that if you treat all with respect and kindness and are in a peaceful state of mind, you have reached "nirvana". That means that you are in a peaceful mind and will stay like that and will live a good life. You don't have to believe in multiple gods or anything, but a really good thing about Buddhism is that you can be a bi-religious person; part Buddhist and part- anything else (I do not recommend being part Buddhist and part Christian; it isn't allowed in the Christian Church). The thing is, there is a way that everything got how it did today, and Earth didn't start by itself or anything; so therefore a stronger spirit-like figure that controls the universe and the super-natural world (which yes, does exist, as some serious scientists say). Christians call it God, and the Indians of the 1700s and 1800s called it the Great Spirit. Call it what you like, or say that it is not there, but whatever you do, good luck! :)

P.S. I think that it is great to turn over a new leaf. As Buddha once said, "A life unquestioned is a life unlived."

P.P.S. Avoid cults.

this is BlondeMoment250's best friend... I think that you SHOULD become a christian, however, no one can make this decision for you. To the person that said that all this religion is is a big cult, i am sorry, you are very lost my friend. I think that christianity is a wonderful religion that is backed up by much science. You may want to talk to a local preacher, they can help you with your search. Your morals are much backed up with your religion, but i would not say to pick a religion that just makes you feel good. I myself am a strong christian and will not deny to that fact. again, talk to a local preacher...they can answer your questions. Good luck in your search and God Bless.

be a Christian. a cult will not help you at all; but Jesus will! you dont have to do anything but believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord. it costs nothing, no money, nothing but a few moments of your time. a cult will say, "dont get married, dont eat this food, dont dance, dont drive...." but being a Christian, all you have to do is believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord. of course God wants you to follow his rules; but he doesnt say "dont eat this food! dont get married! dont dance!" because he gave us animals (cows, pigs, sheep, ducks etc) to eat. he doesnt want us to not kill them. he gave us man and woman because it is not good for man - or woman - to be alone; he wishes for us to marry. he doesnt want us to dance inappropriatly, but thats our choice - a free will. dancing's not bad, i dance. God did all the work for you, all you have to do is say, "Yes! I believe that Christ died on the cross for my sins, and I believe that God raised him from the dead on the third day so that I could have eternal life in heaven when I die! Please save me, Jesus." its that simple. all he wants is sincerity and love; God loves you. he loves you so much that he gave his one and only son to die on the cross for you - if you were the only person alive he would have still died! Christ suffered more than any person on earth will EVER suffer. and Christ didnt do anything wrong! he is the only perfect being (besides God, Jesus's father) all you have to do is believe!

feel free to ask any questions that you have about Christianity, and about being a Christian. or anything. i will pray for you, my friend.
