Well, ok my mom used to smoke and she finally quit becuase I wouldn't stop telling her that it can kill you, give you lung cancer, yellow teeth, and stinky ass breath. And she finally gave in and quit :). Just tell her how you feel about her smoking and if she really cares about you she would listen and atleast attempt to try and quit that habit of smoking. Ok Hope I Helped You A Lil* :)! Good Luck! If you need anymore advice just ask me and I most likely can give you some more.

Why not tell your mum that smoking can really damage her health as well as your or if she cant or wont stop smoking make her smoke out side when she needs to smoke take her outside and say that the house is in a bad condition because of all the fumes from your smoking

my husband smokes..

i guess your mom will not mind being HOOKED up to a oxygen machine when her lungs give out.
She needs to talk to people who are living with cancer...

But..to me..

Does she KNOW that second hand smoke cause more CANCER than the person who are smoking??

When i had kids..i told my mom and my husband that no smpking was allowed in the house..period..he can smoke in his car as long as we are not in it.

If she will nto do that for you..then get some of those ashtrays thaat suck up the smoke..

but I urge you to show ehr this..

My mom had THREE heart surgeries..she topped COLD after the docot told her..she would not live..for a another one...

it is..a matter of life and death...

You can explain to her how you can die from lung cancer. My aunt died because of lung cancer and now a lot of our families don't smoke anymore. Also you can ask her to smoke outside. My dad does and it never annoys my family and it gives them less time to smoke because your mom probably needs to be in the house most of the time. I hope I helped!

Derfel answered Friday December 10 2004, 9:16 am:
Your house and everything in it stink of smoke thanks to your mom. That’s bad enough but if theirs that much smoke around the house its not just your mom that’s smoking. I don’t mean any one else is lighting up and smoking purposefully but you and any one else in the house will be getting plenty of your moms second hand. So not only is she killing herself she’s putting her daughters health at serious and unnecessary risk too. I’m not going to go in to how your mom can stop smoking. She’s got to want to stop and make the effort her self but the problem of the house that stinks and a daughter at risk could be easily sorted. All she has to do is step out side every time she wants a cigarette. I don’t think that’s too much to ask and having to go outside in all weathers and at all times of the day and night may help her to start stopping! Sit down and talk with her, explain how you feel and about what its like at school with your teacher. You could also show her your question and the answers you’ve got. It might help her face the reality of the situation. If she does decide to quit by the way, drop a note to my inbox or email address as I have some very useful info she may find helpful. Good luck

You should let your mom know how you feel. Tell her that her smoking concerns you too. Let her know how much you care about her. My mom smoked for awhile and I told her that she was slowly killing herself and gave her very true and scary facts on smoking and the risks of it. I also told her she was putting MY health at risk. Then, she stopped and she's more healthy than ever... ^_^ Hope I helped!

Explain to your mom that a great number of people die from second hand smoke. Also if you can ask your doctor if he can explain to your mom how second hand smoke can effect you. And it won't hurt to tell her how much you love her and how much it would hurt you if something were to happen to her. Maybe then she will get the message.

Tell your mom that you don't like her smoking in the house and that It makes you smell like smoke. If she keeps doing that, not to worry you, but you have a better chance than getting cancer than she does. Ask her if she could just simply go out side if she wants to smoke. She should be able to do that. Good luck. Byez

talk gently to your mother about the way that you feel about her smoking, what goes on at school and stuff. you might want to get some facts about what smoking does to you, and that (this is true) second hand smoke (the stuff that your teachers smell on you and on your clothes) can KILL just as quickly as smoking yourself. be gentle about it though. research about the best methods of stopping smoking, and how much it costs. you might try and convince your mom to see a doctor and he/she can provide some perscription meds to help your mom stop smoking. in the meantime, go to wal - mart, k-mart, target, walgreens, piggly wiggly, rite aid, CVS and more to get some air freshners and buy some sweet smelling purfume that will help drown out the smell. if at all possible, buy some scented fabric softener sheets and use them on your laundry. if you can, wash your clothes sepretly - that way the smell will be more contained. hope your mom gets better! hope i helped!
