Question Posted Sunday November 21 2004, 6:52 pm

I've had my period for almost 10 months now and it still doesn't come on the same days or "schedule" or whatever. I don't know when I am going to get it, because it's such a bad frequency. I don't want to leak in school, and I'm always scared that I did leak, and I didn't notice, and like people are laughing behind my back. I just don't know what to do. I don't wear pads either so..please help?

[ Answer this question ]

Additional info, added Sunday November 21 2004, 7:15 pm:
I dont carry a purse! So please don't tell me to put it in there. I'm not gonna just start bringing one. I don't like to do that. And we can't bring backpacks around...

All girls have weird cycles. I know somebody who had their period for a YEAR straight!! You can stick one in your pocket or lunch bag if you bring a lunch. There should be nothing wrong with that. All girls get their period, and if any guys make fun of it, they can be called...hmm, lets see. Assholes!! ;)
I'd say stick it in a back pocket or anyplace that you have. Sweatshirt pocket...Whatever!

Okay, there's nothing to worry about. Periods can take a long time to form a schedule, sometimes up to about a year! Ask your doctor about when [s]he thinks you are going to get it. Gather clues too: You feel really moody lately, you have terrible cramps in your lower back, upper thighs, and lower abdomens. You just might be expecting it any day now. I'm guessing if you don't wear pads, you either wear tampons or (gasp) nothing. Tell your mom that you got your period and that you want to buy pads (only if you want to; they are easier than tampons.) and if you don't want pads, you can wear tampons along with a panty liner (lighter version of a pad) incase the tampon leaks. You can wear just a panty liner incase you might be expecting your period any day. Keep track of when your period starts and ends, maybe with a calendar (you can mark a single red dot inconspicuously if you don't want other people to see). Maybe -just maybe- you can see some sort of pattern. As for the transportation part, wear cargo pants (match with a cute top and/or belt if you want to look fashionable) or pants with pockets. If you wear a uniform that includes a skirt, wear shorter shorts underneath that have pockets, and put your pads/tampons/panty liners in there. And don't worry about what other people think -- just be confident!

You cant really help with that, but um...hmmm....When your in class and its been a couple hours ask to go to the rest room and go to ur locker grab a whatever u use and run to the bathroom and change before u leak. About the schedule thing? its because u havent had it long enough its just starting. Give it time and it will straighten itself out.

no ones period is on schedule really, but usually u can start to feel it if its comming pretty soon, with cramps.. so if one morning or @ night u start having pains, then remember to put a tampon in ur pocket b4 u leave

It still won't be on schedule for quite a while, maybe not even for another year. You can't bring bookbags around? You must not be in high school yet. Well, your best bet then is to wear pantyliners everyday, that way if you leak, it won't show as much. And always bring a hoodie to school. that way, if you leak, and there is a stain on your pants, you can tie the hoodie around your waist (only hoodies look good like that, if it's just a regular jacket, then total fashion faupa (sp? pronounced fo pa, means fashion don't! it's spanish.) Hope I'm of some help. You can always keep some in your bookbag though, and if you start, you can go to your locker, and get it and change. Just tell your teacher it's that time, I did it last year, I was like "I need to go to my locker and I also need to use the restroom.?" and the teacher was like "why"?, and I was like, uhhh, well it's that time of month, and I need to change, and she was like okay. So yes, it's embarassing, but it happens. Also, usually nurses have pads, but a lot of people think pads are uncomfortable, plus the bigger pads are cheaper so those are the kind the school usually has, talk about uncomfortable, I've had to use them before, so not an experiance you'd want to go through. Well, hope I've been some kind of help.

When you first get ur period its usually irregular for about a year or so, so don't worry, its totally normal. Just keep a few tampons in your purse..And yea, i would suggest carrying a purse, I think that's pretty much the only way to do it, unless u wanna carry them in ur pocket.. which might look kind of strange.. so sry.. and maybe a small dark jacket in ur locker incase u leak and need to cover it up lol. Hope this helped!

Cath answered Sunday November 21 2004, 8:07 pm:
Hi Sweetie,
You are taking notice of it, though? Like marking it on your calendar? Don't worry if it's not on schedule... since you just got your period it'll take a while to have a schedule (a while can mean years...) But it is important for you to keep the schedule if you want to know your schedule.
You don't wear pads? Do you wear tampoons? No backpacks? Sweetie... is your question serious? I'm sorry it's just... it's so weird. You can carry a tampoon around all day in your hand for like everyday... people will get used to it. OR get a purse. OR have people laugh at you. Your choice, sweetie. ...Sorry if that sounded harsh.
Check yourself on the restroom when you think it's been a while since your last period. Then go to the nurse's office and get a tampoon if you ARE on your period.
Hope someone was of help. Best wishes! ~Blessed Be...

Well.. when girls first start their periods for sometime its off.. some just jump right in and are right on schedule. But you should carry a purse even if you dont like it.. I hated doing it but i found a purse that matches my little skater girlish taste... and if you dont want to do that, just go to the bathroom like every period or something.. and if its leaking just go to your locker and get a tampon. If the teacher asks why you took so long tell them you had girl problems. also teachers can be stupid about letting people go to the bathroom and if they tell you no then just tell them you're on your period and you have to go... sometimes if you are leaking you'll be able to feel it.. so just kind of pay attention to the feeling down there. Best wishes and i hope you figure something out
-holly-
hope i helped

ok, heres what you do. seeing that you've only had your period for 10 months now its not gunna relgulate to a schedule, because its new to you body, thazt will take a couple more months maybe longer. Wear pantylinears just in case u do get a leak. Seeing that you dont carry a purse and your not gunna start, just leave a pad or tampon in your locker and when you notice that you have your period you can go get it, just put it in your bnder or sumin as your walking to the bathroom so no one notices. I hope I helped

Listen, don't worry to much. If you had leaked enough for anyone to tell...then there would have been stains on your pants and underware. If you haven't seen any, don't worry. As for not knowing, my advice would be to ware a pantyliner everyday. That way you don't have to worry. It will straighten up soon enough.

Lots of Luck,
Ann

LilMia811 answered Sunday November 21 2004, 7:04 pm:
it is normal that you dont have a regular pattern yet. most girls dont until like the second year. im pregnant now, so i dont get my period right now, but i'm almost 18 and ive had my period since i was 11, and when i was getting it, i still never got it on a regular schedule. so dont worry. but yeah, if your scared your gonna get it in school, to avoid accidents, just wear a panty liner to school everyday. they are thin, and they dont bother like pads. if you wear a panty liner you wont get any blood on your clothes, and youll feel more secure, instead of parranoyed that someone will see something and laugh.

ADitzyBrunette4Eva answered Sunday November 21 2004, 7:03 pm:
Its natural. Some people have it more freaquent than others. Do u play sports? People that play sports have it less than people that arent as athletic. If u dont its okay, dont worry bout it cause its perfectly natural. It will come eventually jus be prepared when it does. Carry a purse or somethin, keep it in ure bag. Hope it helps!

Well u have to bring it somewhere cause u alwayz have to have extra pads or tampons. But dont wrry it will come soon.
