First of all figure out what your studying stlyle is. Then take it from there. Second, divide as to how much words you wanna study for example 20 words everyday. Study in the afternoon or morning if you prefer. I'm not sure if this works for you but try to memorize 3 words then test yourself by writing the words then the meanings on a piece of paper. Then do the same thing till your done with all the vocabularies. It should let you be able to retain what you learn.
If this still doesn't work, go to the library or bookstore to study since it makes you focus more and there's a lot of resources from books to magazines that you could use to aid in your studying. [ StagePerformer's advice column | Ask StagePerformer A Question ]

oh but okay ... study at night, in homeroom/before school starts, and right before the test... eat a big breakfast... get 8 hours of sleep, drink LOTS of water... don't stress out... take a shower in the morning. :) oh and if you believe in God I guess you could pray for him to help you... oh and you could invite a friend/crush to study with you! :) good luck! xopinkbarbie answered Wednesday November 17 2004, 4:03 pm: The best way to study for a test is by using notecards! Even though you have a TON of words to study and it will take a lot of note cards and probably a lot of your time, it will seriously help you in the end. I've never failed a test using notecards! Do you have to know the english and spanish translation of each word? If so, you can write the the english translation on the back and then the spanish translation on the front- then you can quiz yourself by looking at one side of the card and saying the correct translation that's on the other side. It works, trust me =)

Lachiquitaloca9 answered Wednesday November 17 2004, 8:35 am: I've taken more Spanish classes than most normal people so I know what you're going through. For me, the best way for me to memorize something is to write it down a bunch of times. Take a sheet of paper (or a few, since you have 200 words) write on the left hand side all the words in Spanish, on the far right, write all the word's English translation. Fold the paper in half, so one side is English, the other side Spanish. Take another sheet of paper and match of the lines. Go down the list and write down the english translation of the words, if you're looking at the side in Spanish. Go through the whole list and skip over the ones you don't know. Check your answers and then make a list of the words you don't know. Keep going over this until you get to the point where either you don't have to skip any, or you feel comfortable with all the vocabulary. I've used this for French as well. To reinforce it, leading up until your exam, if the vocabulary is something like household items or something you see on a regular basis...look around a room and try to identify all the items you can in Spanish...if you forget one go back and look it up. When I lived in Spain I had this crazy housemate that was so determined to learn Spanish that she put post its up all over the house. Even items in the fridge were labled. She had some issues though. Anyways, good luck on your exam and if you need any further help, be sure to ask!!! Take care [ Lachiquitaloca9's advice column | Ask Lachiquitaloca9 A Question ]

XxRockon answered Tuesday November 16 2004, 7:45 pm: hey, in spansish a lot of the words are cognates, whcih means that they sound similar in english. For example, televicion and television. Those words will be easy to remember, but for words that don't sound like that think of things that sound like them that relate to the definition like..Shirt is camiseta. A camisole is a type of shirt, so something like that. If ur confused, just drop one in the in box and i can explain it better, lol. Hoppe this helped a nd good luck on ur test [ XxRockon's advice column | Ask XxRockon A Question ]

xoRachel answered Tuesday November 16 2004, 7:24 pm: OMG ME TOO!! It's terrible and I have to know all the stuff from about 7 long chapters.. over 250 pages! And there's a bunch of words lol. Like everyone else suggested, you could use flash cards and go somewhere quiet. You could also study with a friend and have then quiz you on what the words mean and have you spell them (you'll probably need to know the accents too.) You could also go to Spanish help sites...I'll look for them and if I find them I'll edit my answer. Hope I helped!
sweetascandii answered Tuesday November 16 2004, 7:13 pm: Hey! I suggest making flash cards and put them on your mirror at home and keep some at school and just look over a few before bed! Also don't study all the night before..pace your self! According to studies..you have to look over the material 8 times for it to become knowledge in your head..so looking over them a little bit each day will help alot! Make sure you are not near a TV or computer..and soft, classical music in the background helped too! Hope I helped..and good luck on your test! -- Taliaa -- [ sweetascandii's advice column | Ask sweetascandii A Question ]

Sherry answered Tuesday November 16 2004, 7:08 pm: 1. get off the computer.
2. Go somewhere quiet, no distractions
3. No TV or Radio!
4. When is the test? Divide up the 200 words into how many days till the test. For example the test is in 5 days. 200 divided by 5 would be 40. So study 40 words a day. Also review some before you go to school, before you go to bed..and have some siblings/parents quiz you!! good luck:) [ Sherry's advice column | Ask Sherry A Question ]
