hiccups...

ok, does any oen know any good ways to get rid of hiccups? and fast? and is it bad if i get hiccups on an almost daily basis? please help me out

this way works for me and everyone else i tell EVERYTIME

you need; a cup of water/bottled water [doesnt matter] and one paper towel

put the paper towel over the top of the cup or bottle and drink the water.. i know it sounds wierd and tastes odd but it works

Try holdin your breath for ten seconds or drinkin a glass of water real quick! it usually works! but i dont think its bad to get hiccups on a daily basis, just dont eat too fast or somethin! hope i helped!

i get the hiccups alot and no its not bad lol its like air compressed aganist ur diaphram or something(i read it in a book after a math test haha) lol i heard that if u take ten sips or water in a row they'll go away

ok i always get the hiccups wen i eat chicken, all u have to do is drink water until u feel a little buble-like thing go down your throat

You need to deprive your diaphragm of oxygen (a hiccup is the diaphragm contracting). Hold your breath for as long as you possibly can.

no, itz not bad! a good way 2 get rid of them quickly is.... get a cup of water, tilt yur head down to like yu chest, then drink the water like upside down sorta, llike when yur head is down. it works for me :)! mayb if yu get hiccups very frequently and it bothers yu, yu could go c a doctor, and they can tell yu if there is any pillz or summin yu can take :), they prolly have more strategiez 2!

usually when i drink soda slowly, it helps get rid of mine, and you have to concentrate on your breath and make it slower. it usually works. hope i helped ~Kare

There are a few ways to get rid of hiccups! Tell someone to come up to you and scare you by yelling really hard! That will make your hiccups stop! Make sure they do that when you aren't looking! Also, if you just hold your nose/breath and count to ten by the Mississippi's lol, that will help too! One more thing, just drink water in 9 gulps and that will help too! I heard sugar works too but I haven't tried that! Hope I helped :)

Many of the answers given so far are just myth. First off, what is a hiccup? It is a muscle spasm in the diaphragm. How can you stop and/or prevent them? Get better control over your diaphragm.<br>

Great... so how do you do that? Breathing exercises. To get rid of them, inhale deeply, hold your breath a moment, then slowly release the air through pursed lips. Do this several times. This forces you to override the diaphragm's natural impulses, and can usually get rid of hiccups easily. People often think of holding their breath, but never think of exhaling slowly - that is the key part to this.<br>

If you get hiccups very frequently, you might consider performing breathing exercizes like the one I described to you. Do things to control your breath, breathing in a steady, slow manner. You can even practice as you walk around - inhale for 3 steps, exhale 3 steps... then change it to inhale 2 steps, exhale 5 steps... etc... this essentially is providing controlled exercise for your diaphragm - just like any standard conditioning drill done in a gym or running on a track. If you can master breath control, you'll pretty much never have hiccups again.

When I used to get bad hiccups, I would get a teaspoon of sugar and let it disolve in your mouth. You can't swallow it until it disolves. It's sort of gross going down, but leaves a nice tatse. It may sound sort of strange, but it's effective. Good Luck hun.

Lol! I hate those damn things. I used to get them all the time just out of the middle of nowhere! They are caused by different breathing patterns~ so no, theres nothing wrong with you. They are really normal. This sounds crazy but it works..! Go get a glass of water, and put a paper towl over the top and drink the water through the paper towl! Drink the whole half glass without stopping and I swear your hiccups will be cured. You can also try eating a spoon of peanut butter; everyone says that works- but im not real sure about that! Hope I could help! Let me know!!

Have a spoon full of sugar, i know it sounds like im mary poppin's but it really does work, sometimes you can get hiccups by eating too fast, you get hiccups when oxygen isn't going to the brain
