Question Posted Friday October 29 2004, 5:23 am

I handed my notice in at work due to several reasons. They said that if I finished a few tasks off that I could leave on the Monday and not do the full weeks notice. I finished on the Monday after finishing what they told me to do but they rang on the Tuesday to say I had not completed the tasks. To my knowledge I had and now they are not paying me for the full week. Can they do this?

i dunno if they can do this, but i know what you should do. open a can of whoopass. go tell them that you had an agreement and you are stickig to your end of the bargain, and they better hold up their end or theres gonna be a smackdown. make it clear that you wont put up with any of their bullshit.

They can not do that. That is cheating you out and totally not fair. Talk to your boss about it

Well technically they probably can as in your initial contract it probably said you have to work a full weeks notice. This arrangement that they gave you I presume was only an oral agreement... which are worth nothing, not legally binding like your employment contract is.
