Re cutting

Question Posted Wednesday October 27 2004, 4:29 pm

okay, I didn't really think I'd get any more answers to my previous question, so I'm going to put my addition to my additional answer here.
Here is my question. When you cut yourself, which by the way I'm trying to stop, so I don't really need help there, I was wondering, will the scars ever go away? Because I cut first letter of my first name in my arm, and now I regret it, and it's not that deep. None of the cuts I made had actually bled, they jstu got scabs over them. So will the scars be there forever?

Additional info, added Tuesday November 16 2004, 5:17 pm:
They've gone away. And it hasn't been that long. I guess it's because I didn't pick the scabs, and because they weren't that deep. Thanks anyways to those who said they wouldn't..

It depends how deep you did them. Some will stay for years. Some for life if they are very deep, and some will go away in months. Your scars should go away pretty fast if they are only scabs.

It would depend on the scar. I've got a scar on my hand from when i got hit by a car a couple of years ago and it hasn't shown any signs of going away.

I guess it really depends. Some scars go away in time and some don't. I have a scar on my chin since i was 3 and it hasn't gone away. But other scars I had have faded away. I guess you can buy some treatment to make it go away.

nope!!! you should tan over them in the warmer months and if you dont want to wait that long, try that neosporin scar solution stuff! it looks like regular neosporin but its meant specifically for scars, you can get it anywhere! x0x

I just want to state before I start answering that you shouldn't have cut in the first place, but you know, you said you're trying to stop, so it's all good. Anyways, it depends on how deep you cut. If you cut really, really deep then yea, it's gonna scar. If it wasn't that deep and it really didn't bleed and you didn't pick at the scab, it shouldn't leave a scar at all. It should go away. If you did pick at it, it will probably scar. I dunno, hope I helped. -Manda

i use to cut myself to and i kinda still do but it depends on how deep u cut it. i dont know about u but most of mine went away. i think u should wait a lil more if it dosent go away then it might take a long time cuz i had deep cuts and the went away after a long time.

I highly doubt it. If the cut did not bleed, then it will merely scab and heal and disappear. If the cut is deeper than one centimeter, then yes, there is a chance of a scar. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Don't try making a big deal out of trying to make it disappear (i.e. wear lots of bracelets). Please try minimizing on the cutting (sorry, I don't like to hear about people cutting, it makes me sad and worried, lol) Good luck! God Bless

no they wont stay since they didnt bleed they werent deep enough to chagne the way your skin growns which is by the way why ppl have scars. You will juss have a tiny scar for a lil while but it will soon fade away. If its taking really long then try a scar removing cream like cocoa butter, that helps blend your skin together faster. hope i helped=]

some cuts fade faster than others, depends how deep n stuff. it will prolly stay for awhile but it will gradually fade. Whenever i get cut or bleed somehow i put neosporin on it, it reduces the intensity of the scar and takes out bacteria..hope this helps :)

It depends on how easily you scar. I don't scar that easily and I used to cut but they were deep so I have scars. Put neosporin on it and get those scar minimizing things that just came out. They work. I'm happy for you that you're trying to stop. If the scars are really bad they may never go away, but you'll have a reminder of how stupid you were... I have about 30 reminders... Try that and they might go away and they might not. If it wasn't that deep they might go away within like a year or so. Hope this helped.

I don't think they will ever totally go away... they will fade though definitly, especially if you didnt break the skin. But i used to cut too and i have scars even from when i didnt break the skin too. Hope this helped!

scars are scars... some might heal, or slowly fade with time, but if severe enough, you might have some of them forever... that's why they are called scars.
