I was looking through a Gameinformer magazine and I came across an advertisement for Alienware laptops. The style of the models they have like perfectly fit my tastes (black and red are my FAVORITE color combo lol). Anyways, I know that they are the laptops that are designed to be perfect for gaming, but would it make like a good laptop for regular purposes other than gaming like surfing the net, typing up homework, and all that? I've looked at the features of the Alienware M11x and Alienware M17x models and they look pretty nice, like 8 hours of battery life. Thats pretty sweet! Basically do they make good regular laptops with all their features and stuff? Like use their features to your advantage and have high performance when doing work on it? (link)

An Alienware laptop would be fine for stuff like homework or using the internet. However, I wouldn't recommend one unless you're going to play games on it at some point because Alienware stuff is really expensive.
If you're going to use it for games then great, it'll play them well and you'll be able to do homework and browse the internet with it too. However, if you don't play games then you'll do just as well with a cheaper, lower spec laptop.

Hi,
I just bought a domain and am trying to find a software that doesn't need html or other coding knowledge. something similar to what is provided by wix. I tried searching for whether or not I could buy the software from wix and upload my website on the domain host i've already bought from. What I found so far is that you can build your website in wix but can only host it through their website. Is there anything similar? I know a little flash and have adobe flash but I need a fast and very very easy software to use alongside... Any recommendations is greatly appreciated!! (link)

First things first, learn some HTML. Even if you're using software like dreamweaver it'll be handy to at least know some basic HTML. http://www.w3schools.com/ is the best place for this. You don't need to go through the whole site, you can probably get by with the HTML baics and maybe a little CSS.
As for software, Dreamweaver is a good (but expensive) option. There might be a free version, but if you're serious about doing websites then at some point you'll probably want the full, paid version.
If you don't want Dreamweaver then KompoZer is another good option. It's free, but it's got less features than Dreamweaver so you might end up needing to play with the HTML a bit more.
NEVER NEVER NEVER use Frontpage. Microsoft has stopped updating it, and they did that for a reason. Your web host needs Frontpage extensions enabled for you to use it, and that can cost more. Also, it produces horrible, non standard HTML code that only Internet Explorer can understand properly. It was Microsoft's attempt to force us all to use Internet Explorer and the result was a twisted mess of a web design product. Use anyting, ANYTHING, else.

my computer says this now when i start it up.
WINDOWS COULD NOT START BECAUSE THE FOLLOWING FILE IS MISSING OR CORRUPT = windows\system32\config\system.
when i go to reinstall the windows xp or whatever it is that it wants me to do, will all my files i had saved still be on the computer? i just have a bunch of things that i really want/need but i have no way of getting them right now. so will reinstalling xp delete everything? (link)

Yes.
If you've got a windows XP CD you MIGHT be able to fix things with the recovery console without a reinstall.
Otherwise if you've got another computer handy you (or someone who knows what they're doing, if you don't) could pull the hard drive out of the dead computer and put it in the working one. Then you can copy the files you want to the working computer, put the hard disk back in the dead one, reinstall, then just move the files back over to the newly reinstalled computer.
If you think your computer died because of a virus then DON'T try this. You'll just end up spreading the virus to other computers and you'll be better off losing your files anyway (they could be infected). Re-installing would most likely kill any viruses (if you've got one).
Once you've fixed your computer get a USB memory stick and back up any files you want to keep. You'll save yourself this headache in the future.

my mom left for an hour so i smoked alone in my room.
i didnt realized it smelled until 30 mins later when i got up to go to the bathroom. i sprayed deodarent and went into bed. just as i was shuttign my light off my mom came home. she came in my room and i was fake sleeping. she asked my why it smelled so i told her i sprayed deodarent bc i didnt shower. (bc i just got a haircut) and she didtn believe me. shes like i know it smells like marijuana.
i denied it and kicked her out. she left and i havnt left my room since. it is 11:30 am and i am so scared to leave my room and face her. what do i do? i already denied it and i dont want to come clean to her because this is the fourth time she caught me!!!! yes i know im an idiot and stupid so spare me the repremanding comments. please just help me out or tell me what to do! my mom thinks weed is like heroin. im scared to even look at her because shell say somehting to me. First off, however scary it is fo face your mum you can't avoid her forever. You've been caught so get out there and face the music. If at all possible sit her down and try to talk about it a bit. You might be able to clear up some of her misconceptions about weed, although if your mum really does think weed's like heroin that may not be possible. You MIGHT be able to convince her to let you smoke it in the house, where at least she knows where you are and that you're in a safe environment. If that doesn't work, stop smoking it in the house. If you want a joint then go for a walk. That way at least your mum's less likely to smell it and you avoid this situation in the future.

Hey i downloaded a n64 emulator from my homebrew browser but can't find a rom for it. can somebody tell me where i can find roms that will work for the nintendo 64 emulator on my homebrew channel plz its getting really frustrating..
and the game i'm looking for is donkey kong 64

I can't tell you where to get roms as they aren't legal. To my knowledge distributing roms is illegal and so is owning them unless you have the original game. Most emulation communities either suspend or ban people just for asking that.
I can, however, tell you what to look for. Wii64 (which i'm assuming is the emulator you're trying to use) supports all n64 rom formats. Files with the extension .V64, .Z64 or .N64 will work with it.

Recently they have remastered the original series or star trek and I was wondering if they'll remaster the TNG series like they did with the original cause it looks great compared to what it was? (link)

It's not something I've heard about. I heard somewhere that because of the way TNG was filmed it'd take a lot more effort to remaster. I'm afraid I don't know the exact technical details though.
To be honest I'm not sure that TNG really needs remastering. It looks good already (at least through these nostalgia filled eyes). To me Star Trek's never really been about the special effects. I don't mind there being 2 blokes behind the scenes opening the doors, or the actors running back and forth whenever the ship gets hit, so long as the story's good.

okay so i knew my bf did a little weed, but i really didnt think he did alot right. Take weed out of the equation for a moment. Are you still thinking about dumping him? If so, then do it. Otherwise don't.
Like the other people who answered this have pointed out, there have been no documented deaths from cannabis overdose. Unless he's doing stupid stuff like driving while stoned then there should be no problem. As for forgetting about things someone's said, I can do that perfectly well while I'm sober. If it's not been a problem yet it's unlikely to become one. Going to his friend's house every lunch to smoke weed probably isn't good for learning, but I can think of worse things he could do.
In summary, so long as he's not trying to pressure you into smoking weed (doesn't sound like he is), isn't doing stupid stuff, isn't into harder stuff (e.g. heroin or cocaine) and isn't sitting around like a useless idiot all the time, I can't see the problem.

I've heard good things about the antivirus programs theymos suggested, and the antispyware programs are a definite must have.
I personally use AVG free.

That's the ebuyer page for laptops. I get all my computer stuff from there, they're pretty good (although I've never bought a laptop from them).
As for specs, I'll assume you want it for writing documents, browsing the web and using E-Mail. If that's the case then it doesn't really matter too much about the specs. If you're getting a laptop with vista on it (and unless you lie at some point it will have vista) I'd recommend at least 2GB RAM. It'll run with less, but not very well. Aside from that, most systems should have what you need.
Of course if you're used to macs then get a macbook like other people said. I don't really like macs, but if you do then you might be better off with one. Macs are good for multimedia stuff, so if you're doing a multimedia course you should definitely consider a macbook.

Stuff like that on the internet tends to end up being a scam, you're best off avoiding it in my opinion.
What about something like babysitting? It might not bring in huge amounts of money, but it pays. Alternatively, think about any skills you have, then sell them. For Example, I'm pretty good with computers. When someone's computer breaks they'll pay me to fix it. Again, not big money but it'll help.

If you're only getting this for Sims 2 stuff I'd go for photoshop elements.

The Sims 2 Expansion pack games for PC take up a lot of room on the PC and makes it slow and even ruined my last computer. I really want to play it though. Is there any alternative to installing it without it taking up my computers memory? Thanks! (link)

Unfortunately, there isn't. Your best bet would be to upgrade your computer's hard drive. It's pretty easy to do this if you know what you're doing, if not then get a computer shop to do it for you. I'd be interested to see your system specs if you know them.
My computer runs the sims 2 and most of the expansions fine. I'll list my specs, but if you're just trying to play the sims 2 you won't need nearly this much.

The eye triangle stands for the paranormal career track. I'm pretty sure you need to reach a certian level in the paranormal career to get the Resurrect-o-Nomitrom. If you don't mind cheating then press Ctrl-Shift-C and type unlockCareerRewards into the console. That'll unlock all the career rewards.

I'm 17 years old, pretty much a good kid, very slightly rebellious against my parents though. I think I have an extreme potential of becoming an alcoholic.
Although I've never been drunk before (but I have been tipsy once or twice), and I love the taste of alcohol, especially wine. When my family has family over for dinner, I get poured one or two glasses of wine during that evening. This happens about once or twice a month.
On a rare occasion (once every two-three months), when no one is around, I'll sneak a sip of some alcoholic beverage (I'm afraid to drink too much because I don't want anyone to notice that the bottle's emptier than usual. I'm not sure what's my point of doing this, I don't think I want to get drunk, but I'm not so sure I do it for the taste either because I'll have a sip of vodka even though I don't particularly like it, but I'll crave it (but mostly I just crave wine).
What scares me is that I think I will enjoy the feeling of being drunk, and I think I might have a mild form of depression. Also, I tend to be stressed out all the time. How I deal with it right now is by spending hours on the computer because I guess it sort of numbs me. I have a feeling that once I move out I will use alcohol to numb me.
I think the main reason why I've never been drunk before is because I don't know my limits and I don't want to black out or get alcohol poisoning.
I don't know. Is this serious? What should I do about this? (link)

Sounds pretty normal to me. Pretty much everyone I know snuck a sip of something alcoholic at that age. I can't think of any that are alcoholics now. Most people enjoy being drunk.
Fun story: When I was younger (I think about 9 or 10) I was having dinner with my family. I had a sip of somebody's wine, then had a sip of somebody else's wine. Nobody realised what was happening until I'd had a sip of everybody's wine.
Fun story 2: When I was about your age me and 2 friends were drinking wine. They didn't like it, but I did so I had theirs as well. I drank 2 or 3 (I don't remember which) bottles of what turned out to be my mum's homemade elderflower rocket fuel. After that I remember attempting to stand, some crawling and some puking. Next I remember being soaked in water, lying on a patio. After I sobered up a bit (I could more or less walk) I got home and went to bed. I woke up the next morning with carpet burns, toilet paper in my underwear and my mobile phone didn't work (I think I peed on it). I don't drink wine anymore.
Nowadays I don't drink that much and I know when to stop. So long as you know when enough is enough you'll be fine. Doing something silly (like me) is usually how people learn their limits.
Using alcohol to numb you is a bad idea and can lead to alcoholism, but the fact that you're asking this question tells me that you're sensible enough not to do it.

facebook's picture uploader will not work for me. i read to wait a few minutes and the downlaod box should pop up, but nothing happens. i have IE7, and usually the prompt at the top of the screen will pop up and ask "do you want to download _____?" even that doesn't come up. i can use the simple uploader, but it would take forever to upload all the pictures i want on there.
i know i need "active x control", so i went to download it myself, but i couldn't really figure out which one i needed.

There should be a yellow bar that appears at the top of IE whenever it wants an activex control. Click on that and allow it to install and it should work.
If that doesn't help then you might want to try another browser. I'd recommend firefox. Get it from:

I recently bought a new laptop which had the 2007 version microsoft office installed. I did not know that it was only a 60 day trail period, but I didn't keep the product key so now I am stuck with a new computer without microsoft office. What can I do? How do I fix this? I really really need to use microsoft word a lot of the time for assignments etc. and now I can't, I don't know what to do. I pretty much have a computer I can't even use. (link)

You can go there to get student discounts on Microsoft products. If you're a student then that's the best (legal) way to get MS Office going again.
You could also get OpenOffice like the other guy said. It's just as good as MS Office and it's free.

Ok, so a while ago I put WoW (World of Warcraft) on my laptop, and for a while now while I'm moving, my screen will go black. I think it is because of not having that much computer memory. I have used 100 GB out of 147 GB. Is that a lot used? And I've been trying to delete some stuff so that I can have more memory...but even though I delete some stuff, it is still not working that well...what all should I delete to make the screen stop turning black? Or what else should I do?

This might seem silly, but it could be something to do with the screensaver. Sometimes when i'm playing games on my computer the screensaver kicks in. If this is the case then jiggling the mouse a bit should bring it back, and turning off the screensaver will get rid of the problem. I've not played WoW so i don't know if this might be a problem but it can't hurt to check.

i have this kitten, she's about 6 or 7months old, i've had her since she was born because she is the kitten of one of my other cats. anyway she's always had good health but recently she's been throwing up all her food. this happened two days ago and again tonight. she also has diarhea, gross i know. i recently switched food but we always switch the food so i dont know if thats the problem. the other cats are fine with the food. but i was wondering if there was anything i could give my kitten to settle her stomach?? I used to have a cat that would eat grass, then throw up everywhere. It might be something similar (although that doesn't explain the diarrhea). Keep an eye on her, see if she's eating anything funny. Also, it might be a good idea to take her to a vet, just in case it's something more serious.
