i have this kitten, she's about 6 or 7months old, i've had her since she was born because she is the kitten of one of my other cats. anyway she's always had good health but recently she's been throwing up all her food. this happened two days ago and again tonight. she also has diarhea, gross i know. i recently switched food but we always switch the food so i dont know if thats the problem. the other cats are fine with the food. but i was wondering if there was anything i could give my kitten to settle her stomach??
you should change food gradually, especially with younger and more older cats. also please take her to the veterinarian to treat her vomiting and diarrea: they will give her fluids because she may be very dehydrated.
Swiss answered Monday January 29 2007, 8:55 pm: My cat did the same thing before when she was around the same age. Even until this day, occasionally, she'll throw up. She's completely healthy though, so it doesn't mean she's incredibly sick. Try some hairball food, Iams is pretty good. If she doesn't get well soon, then you should probably take her to a vet. Good luck! [ Swiss's advice column | Ask Swiss A Question ]
PunkieFreak4690 answered Monday January 29 2007, 8:41 pm: My kitten was the same way. Some causes would probably be she consumed something poisonous (plants in the house, chemicals, and food not meant to be for cats).
What helped my cat get better was to give her a nice warm bath, using no soap or cat shampoo. Just warm water. Also, give her PLENTY of cold water to drink. Drinking water helps the stomach. And don't try giving her food because kittens don't really eat up on food while sick, but just set a little portion of food next to her and a lot of water. Let the kitten rest.
vomski10 answered Monday January 29 2007, 8:41 pm: ok well you said you switched foods so she might be allergic to something in that cat food. try switching back to one of your old ones and see if it does anything. i think you should deffinately take her to the vet and get things checked out because cats dehydrate very easily, especially kittens, so with her throwing up and having diarhea, she is deffinately not obtaining enough water. so like i said, take her to the vey SOON [ vomski10's advice column | Ask vomski10 A Question ]
Boochie answered Monday January 29 2007, 8:25 pm: my cat had the same problem, we took her to the vet and the vet prescribed something to her and she was better in no time. so i would just take the cat to the vet! i hope i helped
evilgogeta answered Monday January 29 2007, 8:12 pm: I used to have a cat that would eat grass, then throw up everywhere. It might be something similar (although that doesn't explain the diarrhea). Keep an eye on her, see if she's eating anything funny. Also, it might be a good idea to take her to a vet, just in case it's something more serious.
