Tarebear109 answered Wednesday September 29 2004, 2:32 am: umm. are you sure you wanna kno.. they will actually give you what they call yearly women exams. they first give you a papsmhere( where they stick what looks like a beak into your vagina then they open you and rub some kind of cutips in there, then they do the breats exams where they push on your breasts and feel for lumps, then they do the pelvic exam where they insert two fingers and press on your stomach to feel there fingers.. dont be scared The only way it hurts is if you tense up bring some music to relax you they also put gel on there fingers and the beak thing so it slides in... then you have to get yearly checkups [ Tarebear109's advice column | Ask Tarebear109 A Question ]

The first 3 monthes are free, but after that you have to pay. [ snowwalker69's advice column | Ask snowwalker69 A Question ]
DruidX answered Tuesday August 31 2004, 7:16 am: Basically they give you a quick physical to check your system is alright and your blood pressure is okay, then they discuss with you what you want the pill for; contraception or to contoroll and make your periods more regular, and then they suggest one that will be right for you and perscribe it. I was told to go back in 3 months time to check everything was still okay and my body was adjusting okay, but you might not have to go back for a while. alisonmarie answered Tuesday August 31 2004, 6:29 am: The first thing that will happen is a chat with your doctor. She will want to know the date of your last period, if you are sexually active, and what sort of birth control you are looking for.
There are many types aside from the Pill, and even birth control pills come in a bunch of varieties. You doctor - you should go to a gyno - will give you an internal exam. This doesn't hurt, although it can feel emotionally awkward. Having a doctor you feel comfortable with will help.
After the doctor makes sure you're healthy (why not consider getting tested for STDs if you are sexually active, as well), she'll talk with you to decide which method of birth control is best for you. She'll write a presciption and tell you some basic info about whatever type of birth control you decide to get.
Randomduck641 answered Tuesday August 31 2004, 12:49 am: well.. first they're gonna ask you why you want them.. some people use them cause they don't want their period.. others use them for birth control.. so if you're gettin it for birth control and you're too embarassed.. say you don't want to have your period as much
jesikuh977 answered Tuesday August 31 2004, 12:36 am: hmm well u might get examened but if u dont want to then they wont...but if they do (ive had one cuz im on the shot, the shot is a dream girls..i have like no period lol =D) but u'll lay on a table and put up ur feet on these stir-ups and then he'll feel ur boobs for lumps (ur prolly young but its standard procedure) and when hes done with that he goes down to wear ur ...womanly parts lol are and he puts this metal thing into you and makes it get bigger and takes a cotton swab and puts it in there to see if u have diseases or anything...and then he puts his finger into u and pushes on ur right left and middle lower stomache to check for uterus or ovarie cancer! and they might draw ur blood to check for more diseases...better safe than sorry! it may sound bad but its actually not, and its under a minute long! its not bad at all..and then he'll give u whatever Birth Control you want...like the pill or the patch or the shot..i like the shot!! after 6 months you dont have a period anymore =D and before that its a pretty light flow, its very nice tho...woo i need to stop lol juss trying to be helpful...:)
MFS answered Tuesday August 31 2004, 12:07 am: depends on the type of birth control... could be a pill, could be an implant, could be opening up your innards and tying off the fallopian tubes (no, really).
Some doctors will require blood work.
Many places will first require a pregnancy test.
