Okay my little brother is sooo picky when it comes to eating. he doesnt eat meat what so ever. he lives off of chips <pringles> and captain cruch cerial! Oh and I cant forget about candy! My point being is he eats all this junk and hes not chubby for his age and height. I know hes only 7 years old but still how can u NOT be chubby and eat junk food everyday. Its not like he runs around cuz hes always in the house playing video games haha. Here I am busting my butt off trying to lose weight because im 16 yrs old weigh 115 lbs and im 5'4". How is this? Should I be a vegitarrian like him?

I am what some would say "pure vegitarian" (or vegan) which mean I don't eat any animal products (milk, eggs, cheese, ect.). I am much more healthy and happy for it. It is however important to get a balanced diet (fruits, veggies, other forms of protein-soy,nuts,beans). Second of all, your weight is fine according to self.com 's BMI test. Though you might feel better and benefit from a vegitarian/vegan diet. I know I have. And the extra added bonus- you will have this new outlook on animals in the food industry. Research the matter. A great book to start with is called 'Diet for A New America' by John Robbins. You will most likly feel empowered if you choose to eat this way. Hope this will help you make a few choices. :) [ musicbox379's advice column | Ask musicbox379 A Question ]

7 answered Saturday August 21 2004, 5:17 pm: no vegeterian is bad for your health at a young age. get into a fitness club or a private trainer and have him/her the facts about eating the foods you like and lose weight by eating it
if your brother eats musketers or snickers or a handy dandy candy bar stick little pieaces of vitamins in them give him taffy and wrap it around a vitamin pill thing [ 7's advice column | Ask 7 A Question ]
lovelyrita answered Saturday August 21 2004, 11:27 am: A vegetarian "like him"? NO. That's what *this* vegetarian lovingly calls a "junkatarian," and it's not healthy. But anyways, 5'4 and 115 lbs is UNDERWEIGHT. I don't know who or what is giving you the idea that you need to lose weight, but somehow you've been brainwashed. blackmamba answered Saturday August 21 2004, 1:34 am: he isnt chubby NOW. if he keeps that diet up, when his metabolism slows down after puberty he will be. his diet is very unhealthy. but vegetarianism isnt bad idea, as long as you get enough protein in your diet. oh and why are you trying to lose weight? And, your little brother hasnt hit puberty yet, so he will stay skinny until his puberty years kick in..the same thing happened to me.. i ate and ate and ate and didnt gain a POUND until puberty kicked in.
maculator answered Saturday August 21 2004, 12:02 am: 16 yrs old weigh 115 lbs and im 5'4".
First off, you are at an average weight.
Second off, he probably has a better metabolism than you. Try eating breakfast if you dont to kick start your metabolism in the mornings. (Helps lose weight, btw.) When you fall asleep your metabolism slows down. [ maculator's advice column | Ask maculator A Question ]
AquamarineRose answered Saturday August 21 2004, 12:00 am: Going vegetarian is big deal.If you do decide to turn that way though make sure you continue to have plenty of protien in your diet by eating extra nuts, beans,et cetera. My sister is a vegetarian and she swears by it.I don't recommend going on your little brother's diet. It's not healthy. He's only getting away with it because of his age and quick metabolism. the_haha_boat answered Friday August 20 2004, 11:56 pm: No you dont have to be a vegitarrian to loose weight. He just does that cuz he has a high matabolism. Just work out and cut back on food. We all wish we had the matabolism of a 7 year old, but he'll have to start changing his eating habbits soon too. At 115lbs it doesnt sound like you need to loose weight anyways though, remember being too skinny isnt good for you either!! good luck [ the_haha_boat's advice column | Ask the_haha_boat A Question ]
