pinayprincess74 answered Thursday December 23 2004, 4:44 pm: No, you're not supposed to wash your hamster. They clean themselves at least 4 times a day ((I know, I've had one)) and they will clean themselves. So, dont worry about it, just clean its cage and stuff and the hamster will clean itself.

LiLBoYCrAzYBaBe09 answered Thursday August 26 2004, 2:31 pm: omg, your not supposed to wash your hamster stuff with dish soap. Soap can kill them!! Rinse it really well with water. Thats what my mom told me when i did it. As for the hamster. You can wash them, my mom did all the time cuz we had 8 and 2 albino, so theyd roll around in their pee and be yellow. lol. Just rinse them, or use a real little bit of soap to clean their fur. Depending on your hamster and how big it is, be careful how you wash it. I almost drowned mine because i put it in a bowl way to big. You also can hold him in your hand as you wash him. My mom did it that way, and dried him with paper towel!! Hope I helped!! girdy_goo15 answered Friday August 6 2004, 5:36 pm: you can bathe the hampster if you wish. it would probably help since he's a pet. don't put a whole lot of water in a bowl and use the pet shampoo from the vet. if you call them they can give you more details on how too. sportscutie13 answered Wednesday August 4 2004, 12:47 am: I have pet rats(their tame) and I bathe them in the sink with baby shampoo. Cause if u use regular soap, then it will hurt their eyes. If u don't have baby shampoo, then i guess just use water. Hope i helped! [ sportscutie13's advice column | Ask sportscutie13 A Question ]
oilerettes07 answered Tuesday August 3 2004, 10:22 pm: *sigh* This reminds me of the time my sister washed her hampster. I really have no idea if they need to be washed or anything, but please, whatever you do, do not put it into the dryer or microwave or anything to dry it. It would be a very very sad day : [ oilerettes07's advice column | Ask oilerettes07 A Question ]
JimNYGfan88 answered Tuesday August 3 2004, 9:48 pm: I don't know if a lot of people know this but hamster's are very clean animals. They clean themselves constantly, so I wouldn't worry about giving it baths all the time. But after it has completely rolled in it's piss, maybe you should pour a little water over it...don't put it in a ball. no soap. [ JimNYGfan88's advice column | Ask JimNYGfan88 A Question ]
munkeezRkool answered Tuesday August 3 2004, 9:13 pm: Heres what you do:
You place your hamster inside a teacup or something deepish(not TOO deep!)
Then you fill the teacup with water(don't drown him though!)
And then you add bodywash...I did that with mine...he turned blue!!! [ munkeezRkool's advice column | Ask munkeezRkool A Question ]
BeastFromTheWeast answered Tuesday August 3 2004, 8:52 pm: You could always so as most animals do..
Just give the hampster a few licks. He will be clean in no time!
Though..if that doesnt work id just wipe him off with a warm wet rag or something. You only need to do that though if he is really dirty. All animals know how to basically clean themselves..so he could take care of it.
selectopaque answered Tuesday August 3 2004, 8:05 pm: Usually when a question says "I rate", I will avoid it and rate it low, but I like animals, so I'll help you out.
He will clean himself, like MFS said, but if he's soaked with it, and you really want to wash him, then be careful. I would suggest just using warm water, make sure it's not to cold or hot, and just kinda rinse him off. Don't try any soap or anything because if you don't get everything completely off then it could make him sick if he licks his fur. Try doing it in the sink so the water can just run off him into the drain, instead of just using a bowl. [ selectopaque's advice column | Ask selectopaque A Question ]
