hi, i weigh 101 and i'm 5'4 and im a 16 yr old girl. im a ice skater and my coaches think im fat. i am very insecure with my weight and afraid to gain. i have decided that i am going to hardxcore diet but not become anorexic, what would be too skinny for someone my height and age.
I personally don't think you are fat, but the problem here is not my opinion, but that of your coaches. I'm assuming that you are training to skate competitively and hopefully reach international status. If this is the case your coaches know what an athlete needs to do to get to these levels. When they say you're too fat I don't think they are speaking of how big you are but more on the level of body fat percentage. Most successful female athletes maintain a body fat level of around 18 to 20%. I wouldn't suggest eating any less than you are right now. What I suggest you do is eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. As a snack carry around baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, celery sticks, cucumber slices, etc. and if you have a sweet tooth make it strawberries, blueberries, pineapple slices (fresh not dried), apples, bananas, whatever your favorite fruits are...these things have no fat to speak of in them and they can keep you feeling satiated. You want to keep away from dairy, bread, and most oils. Take a tablespoon of flaxseed oil everyday. Good fats help you to eliminate fat believe it or not. Another good fat is coconut butter. Back in 1948 farmers wanted to fatten their cows up so they started feeding them coconut butter. What happened next was the opposite of what they had expected. The cows became more energetic, slimed down, and developed more muscle tone. After ten years of this the farmers gave up on this and started to feed their cows corn. The cows quickly fattened up. This leads me into my next suggestion and that's to not eat any corn or anything w/corn in it. Now that's going to be harder than you think since just about everything in the market has some kind of corn product in it such as corn oil, corn, or corn syrup. If it fattens the cows it's going to fatten you. The best oils to cook w/ are raw coconut butter and raw palm oil. These oils do not go rancid at high temperatures like all your other cooking oils. Palm oil has carotenes (precursors to Vitamin A) and the antioxidant tocotrienols (Vitamin E). It's always better to get your vitamins from a natural food source if possible. Your body assimilates them better. Like all good things you can do too much of it so go lightly. Get yourself one of those salad spritzers and make your own salad dressing and spray it lightly on your salads. You can use the healthy oils like flaxseed oil in this dressing and get your flaxseed that way. Stick to the workout routine that your coaches have mapped out for you and you will have your body fat down in no time. Below I have included a website that has a body weight chart for you to see. I wish you luck in your endeavors and hope you reach your dreams.

Okay so heres my question and sorry if its a long one.
I'm a rather active 14 year old female. i eat healthy most of the time and try my best to take care of my body. lately i have been experiencing pains and aches in my bones and joints. i also get muscle aches but that is very rarely.
I have let my mom know and she claims that it is because i dont drink enough milk.
i do admit that i dont drink alot of milk but i do eat other things that have calcium in them.
but i think theres also a chance that it might be growing pain. considering that i havent really grown in three years.
So my question is do you have any idea why i may be experiencing pain?
Kait♥
There could be a very simple explanation for what is happening to you. You could be experiencing what is called growing pains. Usually it hits children between the ages of 8 and 12, but I remember I experienced them when I was 13 or 14 years old and everybody is different. No one knows what causes it but there are some theories. It could be that youâ??re under a lot of stress, you are working out too hard, flat feet, or even simply being overactive. The symptoms are pains in the thigh or behind the knees (which can feel like it's the joints) and on rare occasions it will be in the arms. It usually affect both legs (mostly legs) or both arms (rarely arms), not just one appendage. If you aren't experiencing fever or red swollen joints than most likely it is growing pains. IF you are experiencing fever or red swollen joints or both, you need to get to a doctor. It could be something like juvenile arthritis, but it doesn't sound like that to me since you didn't mention it. The best way to take care of these pains is to massage the area, put hot packs on the area, or take ibuprofen. Some natural remedies are MSM (biological sulfur), glucosamen, calcium and magnesium. As far as Milk is concerned...The milk that is sold commercially is hazardous to your health. It has been proven to be a contributing cause in juvenile diabetes. It has also been proven to cause iron deficiencies in babies. Commercial milk has been processed to the point that the enzymes and natural vitamins are no longer in it. They fortify it w/synthetic vitamins that the body cannot absorb. Definitely not worth the effort. If you're going to drink milk it needs to be the raw variety. A growing number of people in this country are only purchasing raw milk for their families. The difference is amazing including the taste. Raw milk not only provides you w/essential vitamins and minerals but it also has enzymes and antibodies that will help you w/your joint issues. I have included some websites below to help you understand the issues at hand. Bottom line, your right w/regards to commercial milk. It will do you more harm than good.

I'm 13 years old and I'm about 5'4. I once heard that if you're 5 feet tall, your supossed to weigh 100 pounds, and for every inch after that, it's another 5 pounds. Well, that would mean that I'm suposed to weigh about 120 pounds, but i only weigh 95. Does this mean I'm 25 pounds UNDERweight? It seems that if I gained 25 pounds, I'd be looking near obese. I don't feel or look underweight. Am I?
Your doing great. Don't pay attention to those charts. They are so confining and are a reflection of someone else's opinion. If you feel good, are healthy, and like they way you look? Then I'd pay no attention to what anyone else ever says and that goes for people that the charts say they are overweight too.

Every two weeks I like to go one day with out eating, or skipping a meal. I do not do it to lose weight but I have heard it is good for you ( I still drink water ) and it helps to flush out toxins in your body. Is this true? I regularily eat small meals throughout the day that are healthy and I get usually 2-4 hours of exercise a day. After fasting for a day I continue with my normal eating pattern and I do not try to eat a lot to make up for it.
This is beneficial, right?
Fasting, if done correctly, is immensely healthy for you. Yes, you do flush toxins out of your body when fasting but usually it is during a 3 day fast that this occurs not a one day fast. That doesn't make your one day fast unhealthy. What you are doing is giving your body a rest, which is well deserved and needed. Your eating habits sound good as well as your work out program. If anyone thinks it is a problem then they need to look at all religions. Christ fasted and we know of one of his biggest fasts that lasted for 40 days and 40 nights. Paul the Baptist fasted and lived mainly on honey and carob. Christians have lost sight of what Lint is about. During Lint we are suppose to fast for the month before Easter. That is part of it is what we are giving up for the month. We are allowed to eat something, like a bowl of lintel soup and a roll for the day, but that originally was as much as we were to eat. We've lost sight of this. Muslims have a huge religious fasting called Ramadan. They take a whole month and fast to bring them closer to God. They are more diligent about it then Christians are but their fasting is from sun up to sun down. They are suppose to do the same thing as Christians are during lint and only eat a bowl of lintel soup but today the majority of them eat whatever they want while the sun is not up. For centuries fasting has been used for reaching enlightenment, energy and health. It is healthy. I've even known people who have cured cancer by going on a juice fast until the cancer goes away. I have included some websites that will give you information about the health benefits of fasting. Good Luck and Happy Health!

my dogs is throwing up blood and I can't afford to go to the vet, Please give me advice on what this could be . I feel really bad as I love my and she is not an out door pet, and is only fed good dog food. She is part husky and collie.
Call your local shelter and find out who the local pet rescue organizations are. These organizations can usually help you w/discount vouchers for local vets. You may have to exaggerate a little, tell them that you are going to have to give her up because you can't afford vet bills. You don't want to but you don't want her to die either, that sort of thing. These organizations will do anything they can to see to it you keep your dog. Also, only feeding your dog commercial dog food is not all that good for her. They fill it w/corn and potatoes which is not natural to a dogs diet. Look to see if they put onions or garlic in the food. This is toxic to dogs and cats and they should not be eating it. Some grocery stores like Kroger have frozen dog food which is much healthier for your dog than dry dog food. If you are giving your dog raw hide chews then take them away immediately and throw them away. These are chemically treated and absolutely not healthy for your dog. You can go to your local grocery store and get real dog bones for a fraction of the price. If they don't have them out in the meat department just ring for your butcher and ask for dog bones. He'll cut them up to size for you. Publix usually has these out someplace w/the meats, but they will get them out of the freezer for you if they aren't out. Kroger doesn't usually have them out but you can ask for them. Your dog will love them and be much happier and healthier. Dogs do eat vegetables so it wouldn't hurt if you weren't able to finish all of yours to put the left overs in your dogs bowl. You don't want to train her to eat from the table, but if you but it in her bowl it will let her know that this is the place where she is allowed to eat. I have included some websites for you below that may be of some help in saving money as well as having a healthier dog. Among these sites is one, I think the third one down, that is also a place where you can buy all of your dog's shots (distemper, etc.) and you can take an active roll in keeping your dog healthy. It's not hard to learn how to give your dog a shot. They don't really feel it where the vets give it. Some of these humane society organizations can show you how to do it, which is how I learned to do it, or you can take it to your vet and have them show you, though you will have to pay them a fee. But once learned you will always know how to do it yourself. But first things first. Your dog needs attention now. It could be something simple...or not. No one can tell you what is wrong w/o looking at your dog. Barrow, payments, sell something, but your faithful companion needs attention now. Think about what your dog would do if things were reversed. You know she'd drag your tail in there and think about how she was going to afford it later. Take care of her now that she is in distress and the good news is I've given you a good foundation to help you lower your costs and improve the health of your friend for the future. I wish you luck and my prayers are with you and your faithful friend.

Does anytake take or know where you can get diet pills W/ ephedra? How have your experiences been with them? Is there somewhere to get them other than the internet? Thanks.
Ephedra is legal again in the US but has strict regulations as to how to use the product and distribution. People didn't use the product properly and it raised their blood pressure inducing heart attacks. Try your local health food stores and if you can't find it there I have found it in my local "Head" shop. Ephedra is actually a natural product derived from a bush which is why health food stores can carry it. It is an eatable plant and you can grow it yourself. I've included some websites for you. Good luck!

Hey, I am 14 years old and I eat very healthily and wash my face morning and evening but i get really greasy skin. I have several shine-absorbing products from garnier that work extremely well immediately but then after a few hours i have shiny blotches around the t-zone area. I hate coming home, looking in the mirror and finding a greasy shine on my nose and around my face and i wonder what Ive been looking like throughout the day. Is there any facial products or natural ways of reducing the shininess of my face that are guaranteed brilliant results?
ty x luv rachel
I know this may surprise you, but the more you wash your face the more you stimulate your skin to lubricate itself, which is produce oil. I have oily skin too. I only wash my face in the morning when I get up and before I go to bed. I use an oil free moisturizer at night. In the morning before heading off for my day I put egg whites on my face and leave it for 15 minutes. Once you wash it off you will see your skin feels amazing and your pores will look smaller. I use powder whenever I feel oily and loose powder works best. With those of us w/oily skin the compact powder eventually cakes with the oil and renders it useless. I noticed someone mentioned cornsilk as an answer and that is very good advise. Cornsilk is made fro the stigmas of the female flower of corn. So, if your looking for natural than this would be it. The good news is when you get older you will be pleased your skin was so troublesome while you were young because you will look younger than all your friends as you age. Good luck!

Hey there! I'm going on a cruise in a month. But I want to lose 20 pounds within 3 months. What foods would help me accomplish weight loss? Keep in mind I will be exercsing too. Thanks!
That should be a snap! Start braking down your daily food intake to eating every two hours. Believe it or not this speeds up your metabolism. Cut out breads, pastas, fried foods, fast foods, and desserts. Do not eat T.V. dinners or pre-packaged foods. They are filled with chemicals that trigger the hypothalamus and/or thyroid to slow down. There have been studies done that prove the chemicals that are being put into our foods such as MSG and aspartame create lesions on the hypothalamus and results in obesity. Before a workout eat a high protein meal. This will help you to build lean muscle during your workout. Carry baggies of fresh fruits and/or veggies with you to snack on when you aren't where you can prepare your own meals. These will serve as your every two hour meals when you are out and about. Drink lots of water. A person should drink at least their body weight in ounces a day in water. That would mean that if you weighted 100 lbs. you should drink 100 ounces of water a day. Eat whole organic fresh foods. If you eat dairy, meats or eggs, make sure that they are organic free range. chickens should be grain fed and cows ideally should be grass fed. If all you can find is organic free-range grain fed cows, then that is the next best thing. Grain is not their natural diet but it is better than what is available in your conventional grocery stores. You need to stay away from meats in the conventional grocery stores because they are raised in horrid unethical conditions, which is why they have to use antibiotics on them. Under any other circumstances we would consider these methods as animal abuse. Because they are being raised for food every turns a blind eye. The antibiotics are given to them to keep the animals from getting too sick before they go to slaughter. They keep the animals pumped up on steroids and hormones that make the animals grow faster and get fatter. What do you think these chemicals are going to do to you if you ingest them? Chickens that use to take 6 months to raise are now raised in 6 weeks. Eat wholesome foods, develop healthy eating habits, keep yourself active, and you will never have a weight problem. Good luck on your quest!

Recently I've been caring ALOT about what I eat, and after I eat I feel guilty. Could I be anarexic? I still eat good, and dont thik i could ever stop eating, but I just... feel fat. I weigh at the moment 85 lbs, and everyone tells me Im really skinny (which makes it hard to talk to anyone), but for some reason when I look in a mirror I feel like my gut is huge. whats going on?!?
Thanks for the help =)
It sounds to me like your perception is off. People with this disorder do experience problems with perception. I know about anorexia because I've had it. 85 lbs. is nothing to weigh. Most anorexic people see themselves as being fat or having fatty areas when in fact this is not true. I know I've been there. Have you ever seen pictures of starving children from other countries? Have you ever noticed that these children's stomach are hanging out and yet they are suppose to be starving? They have these skinny little arms and legs yet their stomachs are hanging out. This is the physiological response of your body when it is in starvation mode. You need to get some help as soon as possible. This can kill you. I have included some websites for you to look at. There is are two that will give you free counseling. There are free support groups you can join. One is called Al-anon. I've included their website. Don't let the site fool you. They were started for families who have someone that has a drinking problem. Contact them. They also have other groups that deal with eating disorders and they will guide you to the right group. This is nothing that you can wait around about. It sounds like you are in crisis right now. You have to go to someone right away. If you have further questions you are welcome to ask me. I've personally dealt with this problem. Good luck!

im 13 female
Im turning Vegetarian for 3 reasons.
1. i really dont like eating meat
2. i am against experimentation on animals, so why eat them when im against what people do to them
3. no one thinks i can do it..
do you know anything that is meat less ( food ) that is good that i can make
thanks
i rate 5's
I'm a vegetarian and have been so for years. There are all kinds of things you can have that is meatless. You can have meatless lasagna. Just make it the same way you always do and leave the meat out. I also like to add spinach to it. I use oat grouts in the chili along with the beans to give it that consistency of meat. Also, and I know this is going to sound weird. Add a tablespoon of cocoa to your chili. It will add a wonderful flavor to the chili. The correct kind of chocolate is one of the best antioxidants you can have. It can only be cocoa. It actually tastes better and of course is healthier. You can make any pie just don’t add the eggs. I eat raw and living foods. I will include some web sites for you. This way you can explore what will work best for you. The first three are raw and living foods. Something I think everyone should add more of into their diets. The last three are vegetarian. The last one has tons of recipes for you to choose from. Also, look in the phone book in your hometown. I’m sure there are vegan restaurants in your area.

plain and simple.. I'm obese, and i feel like dieing. what should i do?
Don't give something as easy as DIET or whatever. Maybe something you or someone you know has done to lose wright? i'm 70 lbs over weight and i hate myself for it...
First of all you might work on your mental attitude. The reason I say this is if you keep telling yourself that you hate yourself, your subconcious will believe it and act upon it. When you set a goal your subconcious will do things to sabotage you because of this belief. Start practicing "I Love Myself" afirmations. Hug yourself every morning and let your body know that you think it is beautiful. Picture it how you want it to look and start believing that you are there. Don't let anyone else's comments bother you (I know this is hard). Simply know in the bottom of your soul that you are a beautiful person and keep that vision of the new you always in mind. Mental attitude plays a big roll in how we view ourselves and how we view ourselves is what we become.
Now for diet. It's just a few things you need to do. I know you want to be able to still function among friends and family w/o standing out too much. Here's some suggestions. Start adding more raw fruits and vegitables to your diet. Do it slowly so that it isn't some drastic change. You see eating cooked vegitables is like eating dead food. Cooking kills vitamins and enzymes (fountain of life). What your body is doing is craving the nutrients that you are not getting so you keep eating and eating but your body is never satisfied. I'm not telling you to give up cooked vegitables, just add more raw ones to your diet.
As for sweets. You can fix fruits in a number of ways that can be tasty. What I like to do is make smoothies. I freeze bananas, mangos, pinapples, stawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc. and then put them in a blender, add a little water and blend away. It's really good and filling. Also, stay away from processed sugar. Sugar depetes your body of nutrients, especially vitamin c. There is a great natural sweetner called Agave which is the juice of a cactus. It has a slight caramel taste to it and it is 30 times sweeter than sugar is. The great thing about it is if you know anyone who has diabetes this is a natural sweetner that they can have.
Something most people don't know about. Virgin Coconut butter helps to speed your metabalism up and helps your body to build more muscle mass instead of fatty tissue. In 1948 farmers wanted to fatten their cows so they gave them coconut butter. Instead of getting fatter the cows started slimming down and became more energetic. This was not what the farmers had in mind. They then took cows off of coconut butter and started feeding them corn. Corn made them fatter. So, stay away from corn as much as possible. Also, commercial meat is full of steoids, harmones and antibiotics. Steroids are for the purpose of fattening the cows up so what do you think it is doing to us? This is one of the main reasons obesity is an epidemic today. You can't loose weight easily because the foods contain substances that promote bulking up. Chicken now has it in them as well. What I suggest you do is find a local store that sells organically raised meat. These animals have been raised humanly and they don't have the additives in them. You will find that you like the taste of it better as well. If the stores in your area don't carry it, ask them if they will order it for you. Sometimes stores will do this.
Start walking a few times a week. You don't have to make it a big huge workout deal. Just start off slow by walking around the block and then add on to it from there. However you feel. Let your inner guide show you.
I hope this helps,
LULABELLE
What are some healthy snacks you can replace with junk food to not eat just a bunch of swets- but somethign actually nutricious! Lol please don't send me to a website to look b/c i hate it when they do that...
Thanks in advance- I rate high!
Well, I have a lot of healthy snack ideas. To give you a little background info on me, I'm a raw and living foodest. That means I don't eat anything cooked. The reason for this is because cooking kills all of the nutrients and enzymes and all your left with is food that is considered dead. It has no life to it therefore how can it impart life to you. There is no room here for me to give you full detailed information on this way of eating, but, if you are interested, just write me and I will give you some web sites that are jam packed with information on this particular subject. They already have it all written out.
Some ideas on healthy snacks are easy. Any fruit is great and also filling. You can eat fruit all day long with no repercussions. You can make your own trail mix by picking your favorite dried fruits, nuts, seeds, coconut flakes, well you get the idea. Mix them all together and take them with you all day. When you feel your energy ebb just pop a handfull. You will notice your energy increase. I like to make smoothies during the day. I freeze fruits like bananas, strawberries, blue berries, raspberries, mangoes, pineapples, etc. fill the blender with your favorite blend of fruits, I also like to crack open a young coconut and put the meat and coconut water in the mix. Add water and then blend well. As for the nutritional value of young coconuts. The water of a coconut has lectrolites in it and it has the same make up as plasma in your blood. During WWII in the pacific when they were low of blood they would do blood transfusions with this. It's wonderful stuff. Another great idea is to take bananas that are frozen, add vanilla, blend real well (you may need to add a drop of water, but just a drop). This taste better than ice cream. I do this with mangoes and pineapples too. You don't need to add sweetner to this but if you must see below.
What ever you do stay away from sugar as much as you possibly can. Sugar depletes your body of vitiman c and other nutrients. That's why sailors of old would come down with scurvey. Actually scurvey didn't become a problem with sailors until they introduced sugar. Another affliction due to sugar is tooth decay. This was pretty much nonexistent until sugar was introduced. The only other civilization that had tooth decay were the ancient Egyptions. Theirs was because of eating date sugar another form of processed sugar. We in the raw community do use a lot of dates as sweetners though. But, not date sugar. There is a great natural sugar substitute called Agave. This is a cactus juice. It is actually the cactus used in making tequilla. As a sweetner it is fantastic. It is 30 times sweeter than sugar and has a slight caramel flavor to it. It is great on anything. The best news of all is if someone you know has diabetes they can have this sweetner because it doesn't react the same in your body as other sweetners do. I hope this helps you with ideas. If you have any questions feel free to contct me. I'll be moving in the next couple of days and over the weekend, so, if you write me don't expect a response until next week. Best of luck to you.

What all kinds of supplements are high school athletes allowed to take, and what kinds work the best? Also, I've heard that creatine can cause kidney problems, cramps, etc., is that true?
I've not heard this about creatine. But, if you take it and start feeling any symptoms you should stop immediately. Here is a web site with some information on it: http://www.creatine-facts.com
Some other suppliments that would work well for you are CoQ10 and Chromium Pycolinate. Both are know for building muscle tissue.
Something that I know will surprise you is that Virgin (raw) Coconut butter will build muscle tissue. In 1948 some farmers wanted to fatten their cows up so they gave them coconut butter. What happened next was disappointing to them. Instead of fatter cows, they got, slimmer, more energetic and muscular cows. This was the exact opposite of what they wanted so they took the cows off Coconut butter and put them on corn. The corn did the trick. It fattened the cows right up. If you can't find it locally at a health food store you can get it online at: http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/book_virgin_coconut_oil.htm Simply copy and paste this into your web browser and it will get you right there. The reason I had it take you to the book page is because there is a great book about the bennefits of Coconut oil. It has to be Virgin (raw) otherwise it won't work. Coconut butter is also great for people with hypothyroidism. It helps speed the metabolism back up.
Good luck with your workouts.
