about

Hey, My name is Mandy Marie. I'm an Australian and always will be one. I still own the accent, but I live in the US. I recently just moved from Miami Beach to New York City.

I like : Long walks, cars, paintball, hockey, football, painting, drawling, designing, sculptures, sewing, gum, guys, animals, surfing, bungee jumping, sky diving, pizza, fries, movies, I like throwing gum at the walls and laughing so hard it hurts my stomach, I love to sing in the shower, dance on the highway, cuddling, hugging, kissing, talking, I love to run up and down the stairs, get kicked out of stores, to go to a restaurant and bring my own food, I like to make a nice tropical drink, I like to stare at the stars, to hold hands, to just drive around not knowing where I'm going, to take road trips.

I want: to own my own sex shop called "Getting Freaky in the Basement" or just pretend I have one.

I am: really nice, I promise! I will do my best to help you. I've been through murders, deaths, abusive relationships, eating disorders, breakups, losing my family and my friends, giving up something you have your heart set on. Please ask me whatever you want. Hey I'm 16 years old and a guy. I eat lunch at about 12.40, to get out of school at 2.40. I work out after school, mostly cardio workouts that go anywhere from 30-90 minutes. At lunch, there isn't always a variety to choose from, since it's the last one, and I usually get PB&J, but not by choice. I add a banana and some apple juice to keep things healthy, but that doesn't work for me. I either feel sick or too hungry when I work out after school. Any other foods or sandwhiches I should try? I'm not sure what to get to fill me up, not over fill me, but give me the energy I need for after school. Thanks - will rate.

Can you drive? If you drive to school pick up something from a gas station like Sheetz or something. If not, then just find something at school lunch.

I don't think school lunches are very healthy. Even though they have been trying to promote better eating habits, they really suck at it. Anyhow I'd pick a sandwich like ham/turkey/cheese on wheat or white bread. You need carbs, they will give you the energy you need through out the day.

Milk and dairy fills you up. Think of it this way: if you had two exchanges of dair such as cheese and yogurt or milk, however you want to set it up, try that. It's very filling and good for you too. But I know that a lot of people don't like milk. Try your best if you can.

*Fiber*
So important! These will make you full enough but not too over powering that it will make you sick. Fruits, veggies, and grains are all sources of fiber. Try and load up on the fiber if you can. I'm sure you'll notice a difference.
Good luck!

I don't think I have an eating disorder but some people say I am on my way onto being annorexic. I mean I am 93lbs and 15 years old. I am always watching my weight making sure I am not over 95lbs. I know it may sound crazy but I don't know.. if I get at 95 or above not usually to 98 though I quit eating till I am back to 93lbs. I don't know why I do this but it is just how I am. I do not eat Breakfast or Lunch but always Supper. So please help me and give me some reasonable advice other than "you need to eat breakfast and lunch cuz its not healty" cuz that is all people seem to say, I mean my boyfriend is worried but to me this is the only way to control MY life.

You're only human. And just like everyone, you want to be able to control some aspect of your life. Weight is something you have total control over. But I do have to tell you that you need to control it in the right way, because this isn't it.

You didn't state your height and I'm not one to judge quickly. But assuming that 15 year olds typically range from 110-130, you are way below the average.

Let me ask you this...do you want to be another statistic? Do you want to be one out of those five who have the most common eating disorder? If you're still trying to figure out who you are, I'd really consider not following the trendy disorder.

Your friends and family and boyfriend should be concerned. You may not have realized this but from how you worded your question it seems like you're not happy with yourself. I'm not sure if this is true, and please do not get offended if it's not. You need to take care of yourself and have control in the right way. Obsessing over weight is never good. In fact, you don't have any control, you're just loosing it.

You know that you should already eat three balanced meals a day. So why aren't you? Dinner doesn't count, no matter how big the portion size. Keep your meals leveled and balanced. If you intend not to do this, you will have problems. Not just on the verge of an eating disorder but also your health will decrease believe me.

Anorexia or any eating disorder really makes you ugly. No joke. My friends were, and I've been through it. I know how it goes, I do. If I hadn't caught myself I could have been in a lot worse shape. But my friend, oh my god, I cannot tell you how bad she looked.

The facial hair is horrible. It's all over you, all over your stomach. It's plainly gross. Honestly. Your period stops. Great - you chance of having kids is very limited now. Your immune system goes down. You start loosing functions. You start becomming weak and brittle. You hair falls out. Your teeth and nails are yellow. You're pale as ever. And you have no strength, no energy.

That never happened to me, but it has to my friends. Luckily, I got help the first two weeks of mye ating disorder. It's really hard and shameful to see. You look and feel awful and you're treated differently.

These are graphic just to warn you. But this is how people look. It's sad. And our world has came down to this...so please take CONTROL now. And try to gain weight. You won't be fat, I promise you. ( if that is what you are afraid of ) Do it for yourself, and if you can't, do it for you boyfriend or friends. They want to see you healthy.

Health Consequences of Anorexia Nervosa:
In anorexia nervosa’s cycle of self-starvation, the body is denied the essential nutrients it needs to function normally. Thus, the body is forced to slow down all of its processes to conserve energy, resulting in serious medical consequences.

Abnormally slow heart rate and low blood pressure, which mean that the heart muscle is changing. The risk for heart failure rises as the heart rate and blood pressure levels sink lower and lower.
Reduction of bone density (osteoporosis), which results in dry, brittle bones.
Muscle loss and weakness.
Severe dehydration, which can result in kidney failure.
Fainting, fatigue, and overall weakness.
Dry hair and skin; hair loss is common.
Growth of a downy layer of hair called lanugo all over the body, including the face, in an effort to keep the body warm.

I'm a thirteen year old female. Recently Iv'e started eating super healthy. When I'm at home eating the food there, or eating foods with nutrition information I'm fine, but whenever I eat at someone else's house or eat out and the food served looks fattening or sugary I panic. I don't know whats in it and so on. Sometimes I make up excuses for not eating things. My friends jokingly said I was anorexic before. That didn't bother me. However, now they have started to say it seriously and my own mum said I was eating in an anorexic way. I know people suffering from anorexia have poor self image, but I think I am at a perfect weight. Please tell me if I am anorexic or not. Honestly.

Honestly, I don't know because I would need a little more detail. But I do believe that you are on the borderline of an eating disorder. Let me ask you this, why did all of a sudden you start to eat healthy if you think you're at a perfect weight? Why would you stop your eating habits now, if you're fine with how you look? Some people become anorexic, and they don't even mean to, but most of the time, they do.

It scares me that you said you panic because if you're at someone's house or a restaurant you don't know what exactly is in the food you're eating. And that is taking it too far.

Usually, it starts out with a new, healthy diet, or eating approach. And it's like you have to know every single calorie in every food, and know what the food contains. But then you'll start being obsessed with calorie, cutting them out until eventually there's nothing left. That's normally the case.

I think it's important for you to know the symptoms of anorexia and decide for yourself if you have it. I can't do that for you because I don't know what applies to you and what doesn't, I just took a realistic guess.

Anorexia Nervosa has four primary symptoms:

Resistance to maintaining body weight at or above a minimally normal weight for age and height
Intense fear of weight gain or being “fat” even though underweight.
Disturbance in the experience of body weight or shape, undue influence of weight or shape on self-evaluation, or denial of the seriousness of low body weight.
Loss of menstrual periods in girls and women post-puberty.

Warning Signs of Anorexia Nervosa:

Dramatic weight loss.
Preoccupation with weight, food, calories, fat grams, and dieting.
Refusal to eat certain foods, progressing to restrictions against whole categories of food (e.g. no carbohydrates, etc.).
Frequent comments about feeling “fat” or overweight despite weight loss.
Anxiety about gaining weight or being “fat.”
Denial of hunger.
Development of food rituals (e.g. eating foods in certain orders, excessive chewing, rearranging food on a plate).
Consistent excuses to avoid mealtimes or situations involving food.
Excessive, rigid exercise regimen--despite weather, fatigue, illness, or injury--the need to “burn off” calories taken in.
Withdrawal from usual friends and activities.
In general, behaviors and attitudes indicating that weight loss, dieting, and control of food are becoming primary concerns

Health Consequences of Anorexia Nervosa:

Abnormally slow heart rate and low blood pressure, which mean that the heart muscle is changing. The risk for heart failure rises as heart rate and blood pressure levels sink lower and lower.
Reduction of bone density (osteoporosis), which results in dry, brittle bones.
Muscle loss and weakness.
Severe dehydration, which can result in kidney failure.
Fainting, fatigue, and overall weakness.
Dry hair and skin, hair loss is common.
Growth of a downy layer of hair called lanugo all over the body, including the face, in an effort to keep the body warm.

Take care of yourself, babe. And be careful!

+Ill Die Drowned by Your Standards+

Well sweetie, my guess is that you may look like you lost more than you actually did if you look less of what you weigh now. But no one really knows until you try! Make sure if you're going to loose weight that you don't get into those low carb diets. I'm currently studying nutrition, and I think it would best to exercise a decent amount of time and watch portions. Have a wonderful holiday hun!! I hope you get everything you wanted! :D

So I'm doing the South Beach Diet and I cant have carbs for a while. Well I've been on it for 5 days, but yesterday I decided to cheat. Well this morning I woke up and my stomach felt gross. I was about to eat lunch and I looked at the food and wanted to throw up. I really love food but today its grossing me out. Of course, I cant go out with food so I'm forcing myself to eat but I dont know whats wrong! My stomach just gets grossed out when I see/eat food. Is this because yesterday I decided to cheat and have carbs and my body was just getting used to the no-carb deal? I dont know..Its confusing me and yeah. Do you know what could be wrong?

I'm not really advanced on this type of thing, but here are some of my thoughts: It's likely that you have the right idea about your body. Because you were going without carbs for a while your stomach adapted to that and you're confusing it by putting back these carbs. If you start ending your carbs and continue doing that for a period of time, you will become used to doing that. But when you get off the diet your body has no way of responding sensibly because you are switching on and off of something. It is best to stay in one eating habit. Think of it like this: You get confused if you learn something from what you've been taught, but suddenly there is a new way that someone wants you to understand. Your body is the same way. You are mixing up the types of foods you are eating which is causing you to have those gross feelings when you see or eat food. That is what I believe is the reason to why that happened. Anyways, good luck!

Mandee
