My fiancé's mom had told me about a house that a friend of hers owned and that he was wanting to rent it out. So she asked him if I could stay there. Well, my fiancé later informed me that the man had said that a woman was already living there, but was planning on moving out. But she's not sure exactly when. I had planned for this and have searched for a house. Ive found a couple, but I currently don't have the money for the down payment. I cannot find a single place that will give me a loan because I have no credit history. What do I do? Is there a place that WILL give me a loan? I don't want to borrow from family. (link)

Keep in mind, basing financial decisions on what I or anyone on this site might say alone could backfire. Think about what people say and if it doesn't add up to you, for the love of God don't do it. It's impossible for anyone to fully grasp your situation and in the end, you and your fiance will know what's best for you. But I do have some suggestions. Don't take them if you don't feel they're the right direction you want to go.
Unfortunately, you don't think you can get far in such situations without a credit history, so I'd built your credit a fast as you can. It's easier than a lot of people think. While I hate suggesting getting credit cards, they're necessary in such a situation and basically harmless if you do it right.
I'd get a credit card from whatever bank you have. Read whatever information they provide, make a payment plan, stick with it. Additionally, store credit cards are easy to get as well, but are a bit more tempting to use. As long as you don't rack up a debt by going on a spending spree, you should be able to do all right and rack up a decent credit score in little time. Really, I wouldn't use these cards unless you had to.
I'm pretty sure you can often choose to pay twice a month on cards as opposed to once a month. This'll raise your credit score faster. High limits also cause for higher scores. And if you know someone who has good credit and would be willing to add you your name to their card(s), this will help raise your score faster as well, though that's a long shot.
I'm not sure exactly how much time you have and how much money you need. I think it could take a couple of months to establish good credit. If you need a very large amount of money, more than your bank's credit card limit and what you can get combined, you may need to resort to borrowing from family or changing your plans. But if you do have a bit of time, I would try building some credit and making more attempts at getting a loan. It would probably be a good idea to establish a decent credit score regardless, because you never know when such a situation might arise again.

About 2 years ago my mom and brother moved down south to live with my grandma to help her out after my grandpa died. I stayed here in NY because I wasnt ready to leave yet (friends, etc) and I was already going to college. I now have a job and still go to school 2 years later, but after visiting my mom I really do miss her and my whole family. I mean my whole family lives down south now pretty much. I live with my boyfriend up here but we're always on and off but I do care about him. And in NY everythings really expensive anyway,so I have been wanting to move down south. But, I think whats holding me back is the fact that I still do care about my boyfriend and all of my friends are up here. What should I do? Should I move down where my family is or stay here? (link)
|
It's a difficult situation as you'll likely greatly miss being close to people whether you move or not, so I would try to take this feeling out of the equation and decide what you should do that would benefit your future specifically. Think about what you want to do with your life in the long run.
If you can do what you want to do in either place, maybe you should move. Afterall, there's no law against moving back if it turns out you were happier in New York.

Super random question ha.
18/F not that it really matters.
So my dad went food shopping last week and got me 4 boxes of Souffers mac & cheese that you heat up in the microwave. He had gotten them out of the open freezer in our grocery store so he thought since it was open that it was actually the refrigerated section and put the 4 boxes of mac & cheese into our fridge when he got home.
It was no more then 10 hours later that I noticed his mistake and moved them to the freezer.
A few days after I did that my mom came to visit and I was telling her about it and she said it might not be safe to eat them now and that I probably should have just kept them in the fridge and cooked them at a lower time. She says it could go either way, they might be okay or I might get sick if I eat them so now I'm worried.
We don't exactly have money to be throwing around so I really don't want them to go away but I don't wanna find out they're bad by throwing it up (which my mom joked would happen).
So the question is, what does anyone else think? Do you think they're still edible? Our fridge I'd say is a little colder then most, if you put an open cup of water in it for an hour or so, the top layer of water becomes frozen, bread that wasn't completely wrapped tight becomes hard as a rock (compared to bread in zip locked bags that just gets cold, not hard) (link)
|
What's the ingredients? Why does it have to be in the freezer, is it already cooked?
My guess would be that it's ok, but that's just a guess. Food is no longer safe when it's outside it's danger zone for more than 4 hours, which is to say if it needs refrigerated and it's been out for 4 hours, it's no longer safe. But it was in the fridge, so I'm guessing even if it needed to be frozen it still wouldn't be harmful. It all really depends on why it needs to be frozen in the first place.
If it's because of the dairy, I think you'll be fine. I can't imagine what other ingredients would be in mac and cheese that would be cause for freezing.
I just checked their site and it seems like it's 100% cheddar cheese and noodles. I think you're all right.

I saw a movie when I was a little kid, and I remember some of the scenes. I've been wondering what this movie was for years and years.
Okay, so the first scene I remember was when the family in the movie were driving and the little girl says she needs to pee, so the mom takes her behind a sign and she says, "Look at the bunnies!" And then this big blue monster comes out of the woods. He is tall and has long dreads with a loincloth and a spear and he has three scars on his stomach that have teeth.
I remember the monster chased the dad and ate the little boy, and the little boy's arms were hanging out of the monster's stomach.
Does anyone know what this movie is?!?! (link)

No, it isn't Night of the Lepus. Not sure what that movie is though. I haven't been able to find anything.

So, a few days ago I adopted a cat.
I'm a college student and I'm paying my way through school so I don't have a lot of money. I have a enough to take care of the cat though.
But yesterday I found out my apartment asks for a $400 dollar pet deposit which I cannot afford right now. I
After school I only have about $500 a month for groceries and things.
So far, I haven't told my apartment I adopted a cat. What do you think is the worst they would do if they eventually found out? Just ask I pay it?
Should I tell them and try to work out a payment plan or something. I'm just worried they'll want all the money up front and I have no way to do that. I would be devastated if I had to give her up.
I'm just looking for advice on the smartest actions.

With all the things that come with owning a pet, I think they're more expensive than you might think. If it's a kitten that hasn't had vaccinations, that could be up to 100 dollars in vaccinations alone, 50 dollars for an exam, up to 150 to get it neutered or spayed, not to mention the cost of any treatment for health problems it might have, which can be pretty expensive. That's just for the vet alone. I'm sorry to say this, but it wouldn't surprise me if this was far from the last financial scare due to owning this cat. To avoid compromising its health, you might have to consider giving it up to someone that can afford all the things that it needs.
If you decide to keep the cat, I would ask your landlord about a possible payment plan (honestly, I think their 400 dollar pet deposit is ridiculous) before telling them you have the cat. If they won't allow you to make smaller payments, I'm sorry but you might have to give up the cat.

when you crack your nuckles, what exactly are you cracking?
is it bad for you? (link)
|
It'll take a long time before it has ill effects, if it does. The only problem with cracking your knuckles is the ability to easily do it is a sign of future problems with arthritis.

My butt's been bleeding, like, when I wipe and stuff, it's blood, and I check, not from the twat. I know it's not normal, so what does it mean? (link)
|
It can be the result of a lot of different things. Are you straining too hard? Do you go very often? Do you wipe very hard? These can all cause it or contribute to it.
If it doesn't stop after awhile, you should go to the doctor. The only way to really tell is to actually get it checked out.

Hey. Well, I'm like 5'6 to 5'7, and I'm 14/f African American (if that helps) and about to enter the 9th grade as a freshman in August. Anyways, I was just wondering if you guys thought that I was tall for my age, average height, etc. Also, can you guys tell me if long legs look good in mini skirts. Thanks.
P.S.-I have like a couple scabs on my legs and I'm brown skin and the scabs are like a dark brownish color, so I was wondering if that would look good in a mini skirt as well, and also whatI can do to clear it up quickly. Thanks again, and sorry for all the questions. (link)

You're fast approaching the age where a lot of girls stop growing. I'd say you're tall, but not too far above average height. I'd say you're at the upper part of average.
|
I was just wondering what most people thought.
Would you rather regret something you said or regret not saying anything at all? And why? Your opinion means nothing if you don't explain. (link)
|
I've been through both a number of times. I've talked about my true feelings, taking a shot in the dark and not knowing what the response would be, and I've kept my mouth shut about feelings too.
In my experience, it was far easier on me when I didn't say anything at all. People speak of the constant wondering of what could have been, but honestly, it's not always constant. You normally meet someone else.
When you tell someone how you feel, you risk a lot. I've had a number of situations where I was almost sure of how the other felt. But when you ask someone out or tell someone you like them, and they nervously change the subject, it's another constant wondering. Why don't they feel the same way or why did their feelings change? It's normally something as simple as "they just did", but I'm guessing rarely is anyone satisfied with that answer.
Since in the question you're doomed to regret something, I would rather regret not saying a word. It's far less awkward and painful.
|
So how do I get someone to jump on me? Do I have to take my clothes off and dance around naked? (link)
|
I don't know. Being jumped on sounds a little too painful. Though I think if you took your clothes off and started dancing, someone might be a little weirded out... or not. It's hard to tell unless you're actually the person this is in reference to, heh. Maybe he's not the type that can easily jump on his best friend, or anyone for that matter.

How do blind people know when they're done wiping their butts? (link)
|
They don't, really. They use a different type of wipe when at all possible that provides a more thorough clean. Other than that, they have a set number of wipes in their mind.

my sister & I have been so excited to buy harry potter & the goblet of fire on dvd & we did today. my sister opened it and watched it, and then realized that it wasn't the version that came with special features! i want the version with special features, but i don't think we can return it to the store if it is already opened (the plastic is off). i'm not even sure if the specific store we bought it at (strawberries) sells the special feature one, so i'd have to buy it somewhere else. what should i do??? is there anyway they will take it back?? (link)
|
First of all, do you still have a receipt? If you don't, you'll have to buy it somewhere else. If you do, you might find a return policy on it. A lot of stores are lenient when it comes to returns if you're exchanging it for the same relative item. Now find out if the store has the special edition of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. If it does, tell them you'd like to exchange it for the special edition. If they allow this type of exchange but don't have the movie in stock, see if there's a way you can order it. If not, then look elsewhere for it.

Hi. I'm nearly 18, female and I live in Australia. I've never had a nickname that stuck because my name, Ruth, doesn't easily translate to nick-name-dom. A little while ago, this American guy from Spacefem who I was talking to on MSN told me he'd think of a nickname for me, but he never did. Can you think of a good nickname for me, or kick this guy's ass into gear so he thinks of one more me? I think you go to the College he goes to...
(link)

How about... Tomato soup? From Ruth we get Baby Ruth, That's a 'Candy bar', Candy, Can for a shorter version, 'Tomato soup' comes in a can!

I'm a 16 year old girl.
Ok. So I like my eyes and all but when guys try to get me to go out with them just by telling me that they like my eyes it totally turns me off even if the guy is really hott or nice. Here is an example of what most guys say: "Your eyes have taken over my soul."
The whole "your eyes see into my soul" thing is getting very old. My question is, can't guys come up with some original pick up lines? (link)
|
Well, yes, they can. The exception to this is idiots, so trust your judgement. If a guy comes up to you and says "Your eyes have taken over my soul", he's an idiot, and unworthy of your time.
