I am no longer giving advice on Advicenators, and have requested that my account be deleted.

I am now giving advice on Askville as ->Peter

If you're looking for good advice here, I suggest you ask YoungGrandma. She's the best.

I don't expect to be checking in on this site again, so if you want to ask me something, see you on Askville!

Good luck!

I have windows 2000 and I was able to view GIF items then one day it wouldn't show them, it would show the picture but not moving at all. So I waited it out thinking it'd work later but 2 weeks later and nothing. What caused this problem? should i download anything to make GIF things viewable? Is it because I have windows 2000 that they are not working? Please help im so confused as to what to do

The reason that no one is answering this is probably because you haven't given enough information. You said "it wouldn't show them" and then "it would show the picture". It sounds as if what's happening is that animated GIFs (i.e. moving ones) aren't moving, but I don't know.

We need to know exactly what you see when you look at a GIF, and an animated GIF. Is there a broken image placeholder? A still image only?

I'm just guessing here, because I really don't have enough information, but this page might have a solution for your problem. Please remember that you SHOULDN'T edit your Registry unless you really know what you are doing; if you screw up the Registry, you can completely kill your installation of Windows. You could potentially lose everything.
