what's better:
running for 15 minutes,
or walking for a half hour?

Half an hour of moderate exercise will elevate your metabolism for at least a day. That means that your body will burn fat at a higher rate for all that time, even when you're sleeping. And you'll have more energy.
The sad truth is that our bodies tend to resist increasing the rate of metabolism, so fifteen minutes of running will NOT give you the same effect.
If your intention is to lose weight or increase your energy level, you need to spend at least half an hour every other day doing cardiovascular exercise. That means a brisk walk, at the very least.
More time would be better, of course. Just don't overdo it; it's better to an easier workout that you can keep up with, than to do a painful workout that you just can't stand.
Good luck!
