Dear How do I make buildings in Bryce,
I hope that by now you have this all taken care of, but just in case... here is a series of tutorials that can help you:
Main link:
http://surreal-archives.50megs.com/tutorial/tutorial.html
... The site has pop-ups, but it isn't the fault of the person who did the tutorials, just the free hosting he used.
Basic Office Building Tutorial using boolean modelling:
http://surreal-archives.50megs.com/tutorial/basic_bldg1.html
Basic Office Building Tutorial using multi-replicate function:
http://surreal-archives.50megs.com/tutorial/2-basic_bldg1.html
Building a Basic Cityscape:
http://surreal-archives.50megs.com/tutorial/cityscape1.html
... and here is a page full of his finished work:
http://surreal-archives.50megs.com/
... If you have found other resources in the mean time, please add them to the "additional info" section of your question. That will help the next person to find the info that helped you build buildings in Bryce 3D when they find this in the search engines.

I'm like, ripping my hair out.
My dad bought this DVD camera, & it's really hard to figure out.
It's a hitachi.
Mult format.
DVD-RAM/DVD-RW/DVD-R
SD Card
16:9 Widescreen recording
16x Optical Zoom
240x Digital Zoom
RAM Campatible.
I took it to this Farm Aid thing I went to the other night, & some dude ODed & we got it on tape, and I want to get it up on the internet because my friends want to see the cops & stuff. I know that's kinda morbid, but it's really interesting, the whole CSI thing.
So anyway, I've been trying since Sunday Morning to upload this thing onto the computer. I downloaded the CD software that came with the camera but it still isn't working. I just can't figure out how to work it. The manual is so hard to understand. It's for like computer geniuses. Can anyone help me out?
Greatly Appreciated. (link)

Hi there,
I am sorry nobody was able to answer this. As I just found it, I would like to address it for anyone who might find it via the search engines.
If you are still having trouble, I can probably help you, if you will provide the model number, so that I can look up the manual for that specific one.
I looked at a recent model, just to see what the manual for Hitachi DVD Camcorders looks like these days. Their choice of terminology is not very good, that is for sure. :-(
The key is to know which area of the manual to pay attention to. You want to be able to export video to a format you can edit on your computer. The choice you want, of those offered, is MPEG2.
With that in mind, here is the manual section of interest. Follow the steps exactly as given and all should be well between you and your Hitachi camera:
To capture in MPEG2 file format
1 Connect to PC the DVD video camera/
recorder in which a DVD-RAM/DVD-RW
(VR-mode) is loaded.
2 Start up DVD-MovieAlbumSE.
3 From the DVD-MovieAlbumSE screen, select
the thumbnail of the program from which
you wish to create a DVD video, and rightclick
it to execute “Export”.
4 The “Program Export” screen as shown on
the right will appear: Perform settings for
export.
For settings on “Resolution” and “Audio” in
the “Export Mode” box, choose the options
with “Recommendation” displayed: If other
options are chosen, it will take more time to
export. If you change the folder name in
“Destination Folder” column, you can also
change the folder in which the exported file
will be stored.
5 Click the “Start” button.
6 When export is complete, the screen shown
below will appear: Choose “No”, and then
click “Close” on the “Export a title” screen.
MPEG2 files will be stored in the export
destination folder specified on the “Export a
title” screen in step 4.
... It may be Greek to you, but when you are done, you will have a video file you can load into your video editor of choice, and export in DiVX or some other web-ready standard.
All of this assumes you have the model with a USB connection. If you have the one without the USB connection, you will have to rip the video off the DVD.
You can try a tool from:
http://www.xilisoft.com/
... for that. You can get a free trial of most of the DVD ripping tools:
Xilisoft DVD Ripper 4.0 (The recommended tool by most sites I could find on this problem, just because it is easy)
Xilisoft DVD Copy Express (Probably not, since you don't really want a copy)
Xilisoft Video Converter 3.1 (Maybe your best choice for ripping video from the discs made by your DVD camcorder)
I don't know if you or anyone else will be interested in doing more than just ripping the video, so I included a few options there.
While I am doing links... here is the Hitachi DV camera page:
http://www.hitachi.us/tv/browse/camcorders/camcorders_index.shtml
... Here is the list of manuals for Hitachi CamCorders:
https://merchant.satisfusion.com/sf/WarrantyCenter/registration/secure/Hitachi/Manuals/Search.jsp
... select the drop-down for "Digital Camcorder."
It only lists manuals for the following models, so if yours isn't among them you will have to write/call Hitachi for help. (mostly for other people who might have lost their manuals.
Brand Model Number Description

I have tried google and eHow, but apparently I'm the only one who doesn't know how to do this. I'm trying to stain a wooden table. I've done it before, but it was a long time ago, and I'm very absent-minded. Can anybody tell me how to open this?

I am not sure if you are kidding, but I will give it a go:
How to open paint cans of all shapes and sizes(up to one gallon:)
Find yourself a slot screwdriver (flat blade.) Larger is generally better, as the wider the tip is the easier it is on the can.
Insert the blade between the lip of the lid, and the outer edge of the can.
Pry a little, move screwdriver 20-25% of the way around the can in any direction you like, then pry a little more.
One trip around the lid like that should have you all taken care of.
Please pay careful heed to any mixing instructions on the can. If it says shake well, you will want to do that before you open it.
Also, to re-close to paint can, you simply set the lid back in the groove you pryed it out of, then tap it back into place with the handle of the screwdriver. Again, you should be careful to work your way around the lid in 10-20% increments, so as not to crease the lid.
Happy staining.

okay i found like the shoes of my dreams.. a pair of air force ones, but they don't go up to a 10.5(US):(. i was wondering where i could find some that do go up that high, and are cute. like nice to look at. i like pink, purple, and blue.. i guess just girlie lookin ones, lol. thanx (link)

Dear How do I find Air Force Ones in my size,
A quick trip to:
http://www.nike.com/
... and I couldn't find a single pair of women's shoes that didn't go up to 10.5!
Maybe going direct to the source is the answer?
The Nike Air Force One's are extremely popular, so I would think you would be able to contact them through the site if you didn't find exactly what you need. It isn't like you are asking about a pair of shoes on clearance here! Air Force Ones are always in demand right now, so even if they don't have it in your size, they probably will in a shipment or two. Especially if you ask nicely. :-)
Good luck,
DN.

As Mike pointed out, the phonebook is your best bet.
Here are a few internet resources on finding driver's education and training courses in your area of Michigan:
Here is a local yahoo list:
http://yp.yahoo.com/yp/South_Lyon_MI/Automotive_Driving_Schools/7843834.html
... Here is a home study course with DVD to get you prepped:
http://www.vat19.com/dvds/rotr.cfm?select=rotr&productID=820658651924&affiliateID=www.dmv.org
... Here is a local-to-you school, but I can't vouch for them:
http://acedriver.net/
... Here is the Michigan Department of State's driver training locator by county:
http://www.sos.state.mi.us/bbos/3rdpt/index.html
... which is really cool.
If you can't find something out of all that AND your local yellow pages... you aren't ready to drive. ;-)
Be safe,
DN.
P.S. This site is for teens and parents, and has a cool game you can play that helps you handle things related to driving:

... very cool.

Hello there,
Restart the computer. The odds are you accidentally stumbled across the hotkey for monitor orientation... but which one? It could be the video driver software, or you could have proprietary hardware, like the Dell with rotating monitor.
If you just happen to have the Dell: ctrl-alt-(arrow key) will flip the screen the direction you press.
Try the combo, even if you don't have the Dell, as some manufacturers using the Intel Extreme Graphics (built onto the motherboard in most cases) have it configured to enable screen rotation.
You can follow the steps listed here:
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Hardware/Q_21953166.html
... if you have the Intel Extreme Graphics chip.
If not, and resetting the computer doesn't undo it, please take note of the graphics chip your computer uses and write me another question directly.

Hello there,
I am sorry nobody was able to answer your question previously. I doubt anyone else on the site knew about PMI opening an office to service the Middle East region.
Here is the contact info for that office:
Project Management Institute
Regional Service Centre: Europe - Middle East - Africa (EMEA)
Avenue de Tervueren, 300
B-1150 Brussels
Belgium
Tel: +32-2-743-1573
Fax: +32-2-743-1550
E-mail: emea-servicecentre@pmi.org
The EMEA Service Centre is open from 09:00 to 17:00 (CET), Monday through Friday, and will follow the Belgian holiday calendar.
This information can be found here:
http://www.pmi.org/prod/groups/public/documents/info/ap_emeacontacts.asp
I think you will also find this to be interesting reading, if you are interested in the honest value of this certification:
http://zo-d.com/blog/archives/pmi-and-pmp.html
... PMI's PBMOK project management tools and certification are good, but only if the applicant has real world experience.
This is my opinion for what it is worth.

well what if you and your boyfriend want to have sex but you are both still virgins and you dont want anyone one to know if you lose your viginity (link)

I have seen how you answer questions, and I can tell you from what I read that you are in NO way ready to have sex.
Sperm getting into the bloodstream by way of a cut in the mouth will NOT make you pregnant.
Take your time, and learn about how things work, or you may well end up with a baby on your very first go-round with sex.

I suffer from IBS and Coeliac Disease and these two problems combined make my digestive system somewhat...problematic.
Every time I take so much as a sip of water, I bloat out and get full of wind. I can't burp so I can't get rid of it and it stays there for HOURS, making me look pregnant!
I've tried hot water and honey, which didn't work and gripe water, which didn't work. I can't use a hot water bottle for personal reasons and can't have probiotic drinks because I'm lactose intolerant.
Can anyone suggest anything that could help me?? I'm so fed up with this I just want to cry all the time!!! (link)

I'm 20, female. My psychologist informed me that I have EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified). I can see where she's coming from, but at the same time, I think she's wrong.
I know I have eating issues. I stay under 600 calories per day, lately it's been under 500. I think about food a lot. I've lost almost 60 pounds (but I'm still overweight--I was obese to begin with).
But I've only been doing this for five or six months. I AM still eating. So it hasn't been that long, and I haven't restricted that much.
First of all, can a psychologist actually diagnose an eating disorder, or is it unofficial unless it comes from a doctor?
Second, is it unfair to classify me as eating disordered? Does it not take away from those who are more severe, for longer? Did my therapist jump the gun?
I know what I'm doing is unhealthy. I just don't think it's as severe as everyone is making it out to be. (link)

Hi there,
First, let me say that it is a real pleasure to see such a well reasoned question about a subject on which people are rarely well reasoned.
I think with only a few points, you might very easily see the problem as others do... given your advanced intellect.
Let me ask an initial question: Have you ever dieted before and experienced the so called "yo-yo" effect? This is a situation where you starve the body, then the body defends itself by holding onto every spare calorie it get until such time as it is convinced you aren't going to do this to it again.
The typical result is to gain all the weight back plus more.
You probably see where this is going by now, but I will spell it out for others who may read this.
You think you are eating light. Your body thinks it has been transported back in time to a WWII Nazi death camp.
The problem, which the doctor was right about, but obviously didn't explain very well, is that in order to maintain your weight, you have to continue to starve yourself.
So where does he/she get off diagnosing you with a "disorder?" Simply this:
If you continue at 500 calories, there is a high probability you will eventually die.
Your eating habits are not in order for a happy life, hence: "disorder."
As for the psychologist being the one to diagnose this... in my experience that is usually the person who issues the diagnosis.
You may have lost a great deal of weight, but you have put yourself in a very odd position: If you just start eating completely normally again, your body, which as far as it is concerned has been in a Nazi death camp for HALF A YEAR, will hold onto every stray calorie it can get ahold of.
You will put weight back on.
If you look at it from the perspective of your body, you will see that there isn't going to be a no-effort way to fix the terrible thing you have put your body through.
Is it hopeless? Not even remotely. You need one thing to make recovery possible without doubling your original weight:
Find yourself a good nutritionist, who can know everything about your situation AND has experience with bringing "yo-yo" dieters back into balance.
I don't know your height, build, or metabolism, but I can tell you that where a dietitian might recommend a 10% reduction in caloric intake, you have reduced yours upwards of 60%.
The odds of you getting enough protein in 500 calories, well, not likely at all. I don't even know it is possible.
This means that your body has been consuming your muscles to stay alive.
Your heart is made of muscle... never forget that.
This leaves you with a problem in that your muscles are responsible for a lot of burned calories. If you reduce muscle mass, you reduce your body's native ability to burn calories.
You will have to work with the nutritionist to find someone to help you slowly rebuild muscle mass to avoid your body stacking on the pounds.
Aside from the muscle loss, you have done something else traumatic to your system:
Lowered your metabolism. :-(
Of all the things you will wish you could take back, this will be the big one, as it is hardest, in my opinion, to un-do.
Your body knows it can't make up for your actions by eating your muscles forever... so it slows down your metabolism to keep you from dying for as long as possible.
Let me just stop here, and say that it is as severe as everyone is making it out to be.
If you look at what I have presented here, and you do not agree, you are, indeed, in denial.
I hope that isn't the case any longer, as you have put your body in a really bad way, and the longer you let it go the harder it will be to recover gracefully.
You absolutely need help. This is NOT something you should attempt to stop without a nutritionist to guide you, yet you need to stop starving yourself ASAP.
This has to be done in a controlled manner.
What happens if you don't seek guidance? You know the level of obesity that lands someone on a daytime talk show? 900 pounds and up? Do you know how those people ended up that way? If you don't seek help with this, you are, very likely, going to find out. :-(
Please let me know how you make out with all this. I am seriously concerned for you.
DN.

I'm really sorry about the lenght but I tend to include details (hopefully not unnecessary ones)
First I'd like to say that I know none of you are doctors (unless you actually are) and that I don't want to be prescribed anything or to be told what's wrong with me. I want your opinion on what YOU would do in this situation or anything that your parents have you do when you're in this situation. So don't tell me "well I'm not a doctor and you should see one..." Mainly because whatever is wrong with me isn't bad enough to see a doctor.
Today at school I didn't feel good and came home, that was around 9ish. I never actually threw up, I burped a bunch and I had to use the restroom a lot. I took a few walks outside to get some fresh air, not going too far because I felt a little faint. Anyway, my question is - I'm kind of hungry. I figure that if I eat I may get sick and I wanted to know that if my stomach is growling it means I want food right? (all I had to eat today was chick fil a hasbrowns and less than half that come in the box). So do you think I'd be able to eat, maybe just some crackers. I'm also thirsty - well, my mouth is really dry. I've been swishing with water and spitting it out because I know it's not good to drink water when you're sick. I have gatorade in the house and heard that was okay to drink, do you know? I would drink ginger ale but we don't have any in the house. We have milk, gatorade, capri-sun, sunny D, water, I could make hot tea/cold tea... any suggestions?
There's one other question where the "I know you're not a doctor" comes in. My mom is also home because she's REALLY sick. She has a doctors appointment tomorrow but talked to the doctor today. The doctor said it was going around and A LOT of people I know have gotten it. She came home last night after not feeling well. She got sick on the car ride home and pretty much only stopped throwing up an hour ago.
I know what she has is contagious (since it's going around) my question second question is, do you think that I'll be okay, or that I'll catch it. I get sick around Christmas time EVERY year and I was wondering if you guys thought that maybe what I have now is what my mom has, minus the throwing up. (I still feel light-headed a little bit and tired and pretty much everything she does minus the vomit) or if you guys think I may still have a chance of getting what she has. I ask this because tomorrow I have a really good extra credit opportunity if I stay after school in history to watch a movie and take notes so I'll be at school until 4:30 (getting home around 4:40ish) and I'm hoping I'll be okay to go because I REALLY need the extra credit. I know I can talk to my teacher and work out a way to get extra credit without staying after because he's really nice. But I thought that if I don't throw up at all past 7 tonight I'll probably be okay to go. Do you all think that that's logical thinking?
Again I'm sorry about the length but sometimes when I answer questions I feel I don't have enough details so I try to supply enough without supplying too many. Though I probably did give too many. Thankyou in advance! (link)

Hi there,
First some general info:
Whoever told you not to keep hydrated (drink water) during an illness that involves nausea/vomiting/diarrhea is probably not someone that you should take any other health advice from.
Becoming dehydrated is one of the worst things that can happen to your body, so keep up with the fluids. Take small quantities of liquid at a time, in other words "Sip not Gulp."
Your stomach grumbling is indeed a cry for help. What you ate today wouldn't keep my 5 pound chihuahua full. Time to find something light and give it a try.
I like applesauce in a situation like this.
Yogurt, and whatever else you have around that you think you might tolerate is better than letting your stomach eat itself.
One thing to remember: Try to avoid anything really acidic, or anything that will make your stomach produce a lot of acid... just in case you end up bringing this back up.
Here is the usual warning: You really should see a doctor about this. If this gets weirder on you, you might find that you have something completely unrelated to what is going around.
I did that once... everyone I knew had a really nasty flu bug, so when I got sick I didn't seek treatment. I had food poisoning. Had I not, eventually, gone in for help I might not be here.
Just something to keep in mind.
As for predicting if you will catch an unknown bug... sorry, can't do it. The odds are against you, but it isn't hopeless. Not everyone sickened and/or died from the great plagues of the middle ages, yet most everyone was exposed. It is possible to walk through a field of illness and emerge untouched.
Deliberately dehydrating yourself will cut your chances of this. Starving your body will further reduce your chances, in my opinion, to nothing.
As to the class issue... Most of the time these things come on suddenly. You can be fine at noon and a total vomitosaurus at 4:00pm. :-(
Sad to say that predicting based on 7pm the previous night would be a bad idea.
If you take good care of yourself tonight, you can see how you feel in the morning. You might go and see how you do, and you might be better off to call your nice teacher and see about an alternate day to make that credit.
One last thing to consider: If you are sick, and contagious, you are dooming everyone you pass in the halls at school to suffer the same fate.
If you are sick, please stay home.
If not, have a nice day at school tomorrow. :-)
Either way, I wish you good health throughout the winter and hope you escape being any sicker than you have been.

You haven't given enough info to give you a bulletproof answer, like what operating systems and client control panel you may be running.
I will assume the standards of Linux, and cPanel, which means the usual choice for management would be LPanel.
www.lpanel.net
... to which you will also need to add a credit card merchant account. Getting one of these for hosting can be tricky, since hosting is an EXTREMELY high-fraud business.
If you are over 26, have 10 years of excellent credit, and/or substantial cash reserves with which to secure the account, you shouldn't have any trouble.
Check out:
I also looked at the site, and while you didn't ask for advice on it, here is a free tidbit: That template is floating around in a free template pack, I have seen it many, many times. So have other people who shop for hosting constantly. Best to do something original, or quit.
Good luck,

Is there a budgie circus? I saw a black and white clip of these budgies carrying Q-tips in their beaks once, a long time ago. Hello there,
This news story details Zippo's Circus, which features just such a budgie act:

Further searching on:

... which doesn't say much about budgies, sadly.
I found a picture of Mr. Barrett:

... which does, indeed, have him with the budgie circus act.
Writing to their contact address:
winnie@zippos.co.uk
... may yield more information.
I remember seeing this on TV in the 80s... It was pretty neat, but I never thought about it again until I saw your question.

Hello there,
There are VERY few things you can do that will go further towards improving how well you get along with others, than curbing this habit.
Eliminating it all together is a tall order, I know... very, very well.
If you have amassed a greater store of knowledge than your acquaintances, then you are in an unenviable position in most conversations.
The problem with knowing more than average is that you feel compelled to tell ANYONE who will listen.
The sad fact is that many people would rather die ignorant of a given fact, than hear it from someone they didn't ask for an answer.
Emily Post wrote a nifty book on etiquette some time ago. If you read it, you will probably be the only one you know who has, it answers this and thousands of other questions... many of which are relevant today.
Short version: You will, 100% guaranteed, improve how other people feel about you if you learn to bite your tongue. It will not be easy.

P.S. If you have NOT amassed a store of knowledge vastly beyond your years... there may be a reason people don't want to hear from you. Sorry, couldn't resist. ;-)

how do i get people to answer my questions i gave out so much advice and no is has answered my qeustion and its been on hear for five days (link)

Hi there,
Looking at the question, I can tell you that many people don't even bother to read a question that isn't even remotely punctuated or capitalized.
Perhaps they feel that if you don't put any effort into asking the question, they shouldn't put any effort into answering it.
As for "...i gave out so much advice..." ... there are quite a number of people here who have answered upwards of 5,000 questions. You have answered 14. ;-)
My suggestion to you is to completely re-write it and post it again.
Put some effort into it, and you will see the difference it makes.
By the way, I just noticed... your question was answered on the 8th, and I know you are aware of this since you rated the answer, so please tell me, in feedback, why it is that you posted this?
Good luck re-writing your question with punctuation and caps. I think you will like the difference in answers. It also goes a long way towards making you look intelligent. :-)

If you are under 18, how do you be bound to a contract? Can your parents sign it on your behalf, etc.?
I'll rate good answers that include a link to their source(s). (link)
|
It depends entirely on the laws of your country and state or province.
Some contracts, such as for a paper delivery job, are usually signed by parents, who will, usually, be obligated to make it good if you fail.
This is a very open ended question without a great deal more information about the purpose of the contract.
I am hoping by now you have this sorted, but just in case: The best person to ask about the requirements for signing the contract would be the other party or parties signing the contract.
If they don't know, then they may be able to reference the same attorney that drew up the contract for accurate advice.

Hello there,
From the manual:
Problem:
PhotoMAX
software does
not see the PDC
640 Digital
Camera.
Cause:
• The power to the
camera was not
turned on before you
powered on the
computer.
• The serial cable is
not connected
properly to the
computer.
Solution:
• Ensure that you turn
on the camera and
then your turn on
your computer.
Ensure that the AC
power adapter is
connected to the
power socket on the
camera and to an AC
power outlet.
• Connect one end of
the serial cable to the
RS232 serial port on
the back of the
computer and
connect the other end
of the cable to the
serial cable port on
the PDC 640. Make
sure the cables are
attached firmly to the
camera and the back
of the computer
... I don't know what to tell you other than that.
I am sorry this went unanswered so long. We have instituted a new system, by which we hope never to have this happen again.
This camera is almost 5 years old at this point. With that in mind, I am hoping that you have since replaced it with something that shoots nicer pictures and doesn't eat batteries like they were free. ;-)
