Question Posted Thursday December 21 2006, 2:41 pm
I have tried google and eHow, but apparently I'm the only one who doesn't know how to do this. I'm trying to stain a wooden table. I've done it before, but it was a long time ago, and I'm very absent-minded. Can anybody tell me how to open this?
How to open paint cans of all shapes and sizes(up to one gallon:)
Find yourself a slot screwdriver (flat blade.) Larger is generally better, as the wider the tip is the easier it is on the can.
Insert the blade between the lip of the lid, and the outer edge of the can.
Pry a little, move screwdriver 20-25% of the way around the can in any direction you like, then pry a little more.
One trip around the lid like that should have you all taken care of.
Please pay careful heed to any mixing instructions on the can. If it says shake well, you will want to do that before you open it.
Also, to re-close to paint can, you simply set the lid back in the groove you pryed it out of, then tap it back into place with the handle of the screwdriver. Again, you should be careful to work your way around the lid in 10-20% increments, so as not to crease the lid.
