Hey, I'm Mara. I love dancing. It's practically my favourite thing to do. I love House, R&B, pretty much everything with a good beat, and Benny Benassi is my hero; that's why my column is a shrine to him. I graduated this year and am now in my first year of college where I'm trying to pick a major. Chances are you'll see some of my Psychology questions floating around somewhere here. I'm also extremely interested in Political Science too because I, like half the people living in Canada, somehow want to change the world. I particularly want to find a cure for poverty, corruption, cancer, AIDS and George Bush because honestly, I think those are the biggest problems we have right now. I have decided that maybe I should take the time to live a little before I start though because I have a good fifty years ahead of me to fix all the issues there are. Currently my life consists of: studying, working, socializing, eating and ocassionaly sleeping. I spent practically all of my high school life being a delinquent and partying to huge extents until I discovered my brain sometime in the middle of my senior year. I still like to have a good time every once in a while but you always need to find that balance (I haven't exactly found it yet but I'm getting close). Unfortunatley, a habit that has stuck with me from school is my obsessive gossiping. I just can't stop and you know, an article in Cosmo says that gossipers are healthier people because they bond over it? Who would have thought? Anyway, I do have my limitations and I don't condone nasty, brutal gossiping and I don't gossip about anything my friends have told me in confidence or something about someone else that they have slipped to me, however, if I find you in a washroom at a random party making out with my bestfriends's boyfriend, a few people are probably going to hear about it. Actually, more than a few people will hear about it because one of my absolute pet peeves is parties where the all the bathrooms are occupied due to sexual activity or... puking activity. Sooooo what else is there to know about me? My favourite thing in the world is shopping and my worst fear is existantialism. I am OCDey in a clinical way so you can ask me questions about that. You can ask me practically anything you want except for dumb questions but I'm not going to answer them in my little column here because it's a huge waste of space when I could be writing about myself (Click 'LookIt' on my menubar for answers to dumb questions so you don't have to embarass yourself asking them and getting bitched out from me). What I can do, is offer you three pieces of truly inspirational advice. Firstly, never live your life by what others want of you, cherish yourself and everyone around you, and never beat yourself down about anything you couldn't have avoided. Secondly, donate at least ten percent of the income you earn in your life to someone who needs it. Lastly, never get into a bulldozer when you're under the influence and start driving it towards a poor freshmen (I am never going to another kegger ever again... ever). Ok, I'll shut up now. You can start asking me stuff, if you haven't hit the back button already.

Hi I'm 15 years old female and a sophomore in high school. Me and my boyfriend have been dating for 1 year and 3 months and I love him sooo much and he is like perfect. But I have absolutely no idea what to give him for valentines day... he is always so nice about getting me what I want. But he never tells me what he wants so I never know what to give him. And I want it to be really sweet, but my mind is just drawing blanks whenever I think about it. Thanks :-)

more focused "how teenage stress relates to teen drug and alocohol abuse"
meaning, do we drink when stressed.

Yes, I think it's a very good idea but you should make the survey more subtle so the students don't exactly know what it's about. For example:
1. You find that sometimes your schoolwork, extracurriculars, work or personal life are overwhelming
2. You feel stressed at least once every a month
3. You feel stressed at least once every week
4. You feel stressed all the time
5. You have had a breakdown in the past two months
6. You drink sometimes
7. You drink very often
8. You mostly drink by yourself or one or two friends than drink at parties or social gatherings
9. You feel that drinking relieves stress
This way you'll be able to point out who drinks casually like a teenager and who drinks because they are truly stressed.

A douche is a feminine hygenic product that squirts water (scented or unscented) into your vagina to make it smell better.
Infact, it's really unhealthy for you and makes you more prone to infections because your genitals have their own way of flushing the system out without making you vunerable to bacteria.

There's really nothing you can do about that other than having your jaw shaved or starving yourself until you can see the bones in your face.
Honestly, its not worth going under the knife or looking gaunt.
Everyone has their own special facial feature that makes them looks amazing. The key is just to find it and appreciate it.

Europe was really into black gothic and menswear.
I live in Canada and that kind of seeped into my store too. We are carrying a lot of short plaid skirts and men-like suit-type dresses that are adapted to fit a woman. Plaid is huge, huge, huge and I guess that's good if you dress prep. Just play up reds, blacks and plums. Crosses in jewelry are in, so are gold or red accents.
I'm seeing beads and bright purple and green for spring but no one can be sure just yet.

Me and my bf dated for 21 months and then we broke up because we needed to work things out (hes in his first yr of college 45 min. away) and im a jr. we fought alot so we thats what were working on. Anyways i have a formal dance coming up on friday and he told me he'd come but now he's not. I know this for a fact cuz someone told me and he hasnt called me yet to tell me that he isnt coming. Well before you jump to any conclusions, you need to call him up and ask him.
Before he says anything, tell him how much the dance means to you and that someone hinted he might not be coming so you called to confirm that he is.
The fact that it's only four days to the dance means that he is being ver inconsiderate. He better have a really good excuse for not going, if he isn't.
If he says he's not going to go for his own selfish reasons, try to convince him to still go. Tell him how much fun it's going to be and how it'll feel like high school again.
If you still can't get him to come, you'll hav to give up. You can only do so much and from there on, it's up to him and you'll find out whether your opinion really matters to him.

I wanted to apply to this school and i went to myb school and asked them to send my transcript and i sent my application but i have this thing about people doing htings for me because in the past i have had officials mail things for me before and they sometimes came up saying that the facility never got them. But anyway i wanted to make sure everything went where it was supposed to go so i waited until the next week and i begin calling the school to see if they got it maybe i called like 15 times since today and i always got the answerinf machine and i left messages and they didn't call me back but i finally got through today and i was told my transcript was never recieved do yo t hink i was wrong for calling so many times and would you have been annoyed if i had left that many messages on your phone?
Well, fifteen is pushing it a little bit but that doesn't matter. It just shows them that you're really dedicated to getting into their school.

I lost my virginity to one of my guy friends on jan.7th. We were fine and talked a couple times a week up till yesterday. He sent me a text message yesterday and was telling me how he liked one of our friends and wanted my input on what he should do. First of all, I'd write him off. If you still have feelings about him, get over them. I've seen girls in your situation and they keep going back to the same guy always thinking it'll be different from then on but it never is. This guy is a jerk. It's not your fault, it's his fault.
Secondly, you can have sex with anyone you want. It's your life. You don't need to make excuses to him or anybody. It's just a stereotype that guys should get more action than girls and it's getting old. You can be who you want to be and if he doesn't care about you at all, he should've kept his legs closed instead of whoring around.
What you should do now is tell the friend that he likes. Tell her that he used you for sex when you lost your virginity to him because you wanted to lose it with someone yout trusted. Warn her about him and tell your other friends too so they start shutting him out.
News about players travel fast around school. Pretty soon, he'll have a bad reputation and he won't be able to hurt any more girls.

I attend Trenton Catholic Academy @ McCorriston Campus in Hamilton, NJ. The students are required to complete Christain community service in order for us to graduate. I think that it is a great way to gaive back to the community and help others. I also feel that it is unfair because students have homework, activities, sports, and doing service hours adds a heavier burden. I find it hard to deal with all the things in your personal life, private life, and the things at school, and to add on to that its hard. For me, it gets me stressed out because I have a lot of responsibilities, and its hard to deal with everything at once. I try to fing the time to balance all these things out but its hard. To have to complete community service is just taking up more of the free time that i have and I get very stressed out. I would just like to know if you think schools should have community service, and a reason why.
I honestly think it's a great idea. Sure, schoolwork and sports are really important, but doing community service puts you out there in the real world and teaches you some really great life lessons.
I've had the best experiences volunteering with children and building houses for the homeless. It really opens your eyes to all the problems around you and for a little while, your time isn't only about -you-.
It's just a process they want you to go through to help you mature. People who never give back to the community, aren't half as empathetic and generous as those who have helped out in the past. Your school is trying to graduate you as a well-rounded individual.
I believe everyone should have to do community service at some point or another. Not just student, everyone. Corny as it is, I think it'll make the world a better place.

Alright so im 13/f and my cousin is 23/f. shes been dating her boyfriend for 2 years and she broke up with him and so he killed himself. he warned her that if she broke up with him he'd kill himself. hes only 23! or was..
anyway, him and her dad didnt get along very well. i feel so bad for him bcuz he was brokenhearted but he was a HUGE JERK! His parents are blaming it on HER! I wouldn't talk to her directly about it or get into it if you aren't that close.
Just hug her, tell her you love her and appreciate her. Maybe give her a small present or something to make her feel better.
Try to make sure that she doesn't spend too much time alone (especially on Valentine's day) and explain to your other cousins and relatives to be delicate with her.
The most IMPORTANT thing is to make sure she doesn't hurt herself.

Don't wear a miniskirt, you'll probably get sexually abused. Wear tight skinny jeans, ballet flats (so your feet won't hurt from the dancing) and a cute wraparound tunic or one that has a ribbon that ties around your waist. Wear your hair in a ponytail and play up dark eye makeup, put clear gloss on your lips.
Go to Macy's or Forever 21. Don't go to AE or Abercrombie, they're too casual.

Right now? Skinny jeans, black tights, a rock star look, dark eyeliner, black and white stripes, long sweater dresses, big bold necklaces, a punkish-gothish look, menswear or mens clubwear, flat furry boots, knits, golden or red accents, dark hair, red and purple and black are the colours.
Those were the things that were in for fall, brighter greens and purples seem to be coming in for spring.

I don't think DRad8t88's knows the difference between a diaphragm and a female condom but yes, female condoms do exist. They aren't as good as male condoms and you should -not- both use condoms. The friction between them will cause one or both of them to tear. A safer choice is for him to use a condom and for you to be on birth control.
