Ok I have dial up, and I download a lot of music and keep lots of pictures on my computer. I am gonna be taking online classes soon and my computer is so slow! I have a bunch of pop ups and I dont have a virus scan, which I know is bad because of me downloading music. How much does DSL or cable cost to set up and how much is it a month?

DSL price depends a lot on your area. The ISPs like to charge you as much as they possibly can. AT&T has a $20/month plan. $40/month will probably be the average rate in your area. If you use limewire or similar, take a look at this list of Bad ISPs:

i have a laptop and a wireless rouder. the laptop takes a good five minutes to get online when i turn it on. why is this? i cant do anything with it until it finally goes online. i have another laptop that goes online right when i turn it on.

Go to start, run and type:
ncpa.cpl
Find your primary internet connection, right click it and select "properties". If you see the name of your ISP, it's probably that one. If not, search for "wireless internet connection". If not, select "local area connection".
In properties, go to the "networking" tab. Double-click "Internet protocol(tcp/ip)" in the middle scroll box. Now, you want to reverse the top setting.
If it says "obtain an IP address automatically", select "use the following IP address". Go to http://whatismyip.com and put the IP it gives you in the box. Click OK on all of the boxes. Now, if your internet stops working, reverse what I just said above to get it working again. Then go to start, run and type "ipconfig /all", without quotes. You'll see "ip address.....0.0.0.0"(with different numbers). Put whatever numbers you have there in the "use the following IP" box that you went to before. If it still doesn't work, contact me by IM.
If it says "use the following IP address". You want to make it "obtain an IP address automatically".
This problem is due to the fact that Windows's PPPoE service really sucks horribly.

I have Microsoft Office Word 2007 and it won't ket me type anything. When I click on the page and start to type, the bottom says "This modification is not allowed because the selection is locked" I HAVE NOOO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED! It was worked before. If Microsot Word came with your computer, it was just a trial version. You'll have to buy the full version to unlock it. In the mean time, you can open all of your files with the free openoffice:

I don't know if any of yall remember a windows game called chips challenge? but if you do I need some help. I have a ibook G4 mac laptop. Windows programs will not run on macs, so you need a virtual machine to simulate a Windows environment. The easiest way is to download the DOS version of Chip's Challenge:

You're best off applying for a behind-the-scenes position. Chances are slim a store manager would get promoted to that kind of work.

Ares is a modified version of the Gnutella1(limewire) network. The two networks, while nearly identical, do not share files or users. In my experience Ares files are reliable and mostly malware-free. Ares is a smaller network, so it's monitored less by copyright holders that might catch you using it; however, there is nothing about the network that makes it harder for them to track you.
There are a number of applications that use the Ares network. The Ares Galaxy application is completely safe by itself, but there is obviously the risk of malware from the network.

Is there a way to find out how many downloads and hits various artists get each week or month in a specific list of countries (Asia), on i-Tunes, Limewire or similar internet based products where people download or buy their music? (From Hong Kong)
No. I don't know of any online stores that release that much information about who downloads stuff; I know that iTunes doesn't.
Since most of the stuff on networks like limewire's is illegal, the networks are built to withstand monitoring. You could figure out the IPs of people downloading certain files, which will show their location, but that would take so much time that it's not worth it. It would seriously take months. Because of the way Peer-to-Peer networks and the Internet operate, the results wouldn't be very accurate anyway.

It's not like cell phone coverage. WiFi coverage is very sparse. If you haven't set up a wireless access point in your home, I doubt you'll get a signal at all.
To set up an access point which broadcasts internet access, you need to buy a wireless router. Any one will do, I recommend this model:

It uses your existing internet connection to broadcasts; in other words, it "splits" your internet connection into 4 "hard" connections and an unlimited number of wireless connections.

Hard-wired connections are always faster and more stable, so you should use that when possible

Yesterday when I turned on my computer, it didn't log on, it said, "We cannot load your profile because it may be corrupted. Please contact your administrator." Or something like that. Well, this is a family computer and we have no administrator... So now when I log on, it's like a temporary profile thing. This means that all my files and everyone else's is gone! I have this McAfee program thing where you can backup and restore files, but I don't think I did that, so I'm not sure how I can fix it. What can I do? Or should I just bring it to a store to fix it? (I really need some of these files and I'll be really mad and sad if I can't get them back! ='|)
Restart your computer. As it is starting, hold down F8. At the menu, use the arrow keys to select "safe mode" and press enter. Text will scroll down the screen and your computer may appear to freeze for up to 20 minutes; wait. A dialog box will appear; click "yes". At the profile selection screen, log in as "administrator"; this is a hidden superuser account that can access all files on the computer, even if they are "private" or hidden.
After you log into administrator, go to start, then run. Run this command:
control userpasswords2
Click "add" to create a new user account. After it's added, close that window and run this command(replace USER with your older user's name and USER2 with the new user name. It has to be exact):
xcopy "%systemdrive%\documents and settings\USER" "%systemdrive%\documents and settings\USER2" /y /e
Then run this:
explorer "%systemdrive%\documents and settings\USER2\my documents"
If explorer opens with all of your documents intact, you can run:
control userpasswords2
and delete your old account. Then restart the computer and log into the new account normally. If it still says corrupted, follow the above steps again, but run this xcopy instead:
xcopy "%systemdrive%\documents and settings\USER\my documents" "%systemdrive%\documents and settings\USER2\my documents" /y /e
All of the commands here should be entered on one line and WITH the quotes. If you have to use the second xcopy, some programs will seem to have disappeared; they are still installed and you can access them by navigating to C:\program files.
