Q: I'm a 16 year old female and I'm new to the whole working-out thing. I've been doing pilates and running for the past year but I do it randomly, so it doesn't count much.
Whenever I sweat, I get hives on my knees, thighs, and arms. I do have a skin condition called "Eczema" but, as far as I know, that doesn't have much to do with hives. I'm allergic to peanut butter, cats and dogs, and that's about it. So why would sweat trigger hives on my skin?
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Is it possible that the sweat is irritating your Eczema? Seeing as Eczema is a condition that affects the top few layers of your skin, the sweat could cause a reaction since you're new to the working out thing.
Have you tried talking to your health care professional about things before starting your work out regime? It's always better to consult a physician before starting a diet or exercise regimen

Q: Okay so with financial aid for college...
I know that typically when you're including your housing fees in the student loan that you're talking about on-campus living like in a dorm...right?
Well can you get a student loan that will cover the cost of a small apartment off campus while you're in college?
I was class of 08 high school but I didn't graduate because I didn't have enough credits...so starting winter semester (because while the fall semester of college is going on I'll be finishing high school) I'm going to community college. I'll finish up the year in community college but for next year I'm hoping to get into Eastern Michigan University.
They have on-campus housing BUT...I have 2 dogs. I know SOME universities allow pets to stay in certain dorms, but not EMU and none of the ones that I found had my major available (Interior Design).
For most college students this isn't an issue, they just leave the dogs at home, but one of my dogs is the type that attaches himself to one human, which is me. And my family doesn't like him because of that...so I don't trust them to take care of him properly because a) they don't like him, b) he doesn't like them very much either, c) none of them are responsible pet owners and d) he has a liver condition that he needs a very specific diet for. My other dog I'd have less of a problem leaving her behind because the family likes her more and she has no special needs. However she has had my older dog around her entire life and I don't think she would do well without him. So at the VERY MINIMUM I need to take the one dog and he weighs 10 lbs so it shouldn't be difficult finding an apartment that allows dogs his size. My other dog weighs around 60 so I'm kind of worried that I may be forced to leave her behind. The ideal would be to take both.
So my main question is do student loans cover off campus living expenses?
But as a side question...do you know of any colleges that allow dogs to live on campus?
|

There are student loans that cover off campus housing. You just need to ask your bank about it.
You might want to email some universities about their pet policies.

there are carsickness pills (or dissolvable chewing tablets) you can take that ease carsickness. Take it before the trip and it'll prevent it. You can find it at your local drug store.

Q: ok i've asked a question before... it's about a married friend of mine who's husband is cheating on her...
any way i kind of fixed the situation, built her confidence, and instructed her what to do... and things are kind of better.
the thing is i am well off than her and i offered to help her out (because he family won't pay for her) she needed a make over since she planned to confront both her husband and the home-wrecker... in any case i helped out and offered to buy her an outfit and makeup (since she doesn't use any) and i brought another friend of mine to show her how to apply it... when we were at the mall i felt that shewas using me... i mean we agreed to buy her one outfit... so we put one on hold and went around to see more stuff and we found something nicer and i bought it (i spent about 400 dollars!!!!!!! i'm not complaining but look what happens) she kept hinting about the firt out fit and how its nice and she wanted it (i am not stupid she wanted me to buy it, but i acted stupid and said the one she has looks better) any way she kept hinting and hinting and she wanted more stuff (like she got greedy all of a sudden) and then not only that i bought her lunch (fine it was her day to get pampered....) but then we went home where we were supposed to meet the friend who knows how to put the make up ... after that was done that friend had already set plans with me to go to the movies and she doesn't know this friend to well she just put the makeup as a favor for me... the other one wouldn't leave so i had to invite her to the movies... when we got there she wouldn't pay!!!... i mean seriously... what if she starts expecting me to help her all the time?!?!?! a friend in need you know? not a friend to abuse and take advantage of!!! what should i do? i mean i don't regret helping her out but seriously what the heck!! and she didn't even offer or say she would pay back (not that i would take it anyway because thats the way i am brought up) but a little respect won't kill her....

Set boundaries.
Tell her that you're willing to help her but you're not going to pamper and spoil her.
Be firm about it. You're her friend. You want to help her get back on her feet.

Q: so like walmart isnt it selling FRESHLOOK CONTACTS where you can change your eye color
1 do i need a doctors permission to use it
2 are they dangerous
3 has anyone tried any of them and got their eyes IRRITATED
4 is it scary when you put it on i have never worn contacts and am scared because IT DOESLOOK SCARY POKING YOUR EYES!
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
1) No.
2) Not if you follow their very specific instructions
3) I've had contacts and they only irritate when there's something in your eye, you put it in wrong, or if it gets caught under your eyelid. All of which are solvable. Clean out your eye; flip it if it feels uncomfortable; and slowly fish out your contact if it gets caught under your eyelid.
4) It's no different than putting on mascara. But if you're not that type of person, it can be a little overwhelming at first. Just practice it a few times when you pick them up or order them at walmart. They'll walk you through it.

You could go check with your doctor to see if you're allergic to any foods. Or have a very sensitive stomach to certain products.
If you can't see your doctor (or health care professional) right away, take note of what you're eating. Like keep a log or journal of what you eat so you could maybe see for yourself what is going on.

Always shop with caution online and only trust sites from big companies or amazon. Stuff you've heard of.
Yes, there are cases of identity theft online.
There is nothing to be worried about if you're using the right places to shop for your needs.
I've been a victim of identity theft on my credit card. What happened was that I received an email about my account confirmation. That's a thing you look for. Trusted websites never ask you to confirm your card by entering all of the digits nor do they ask for your social security number. Be smart about when you sign up to pay for sites (mine was through amazon). Remember which emails or screen names you've used. If they don't match up, delete the confirmation email.
And yes, I do continue shopping online but I'm very cautious when I do. I make sure it's legit before making any sort of transaction. And I only buy through trusted companies such as amazon or paypal or company websites.

Q: Any creative advice on how I can spice up the walls in an apartment?
I can't paint them and I'm going to put up pictures but I need something bigger.
I like bright, vibrant colors and I really want my apartment to reflect that.

Have you thought about putting up a tapestry? Not like a fancy one but ones they sell at bed, bath, and beyond?
There's a lot of apartment decorating ideas that you can steal from dorm decorating ideas. Dorm deco usually is meant for a temporary time so no permanent things are done to the walls and stuff.
Ooh or wall vases with bright (fake) flowers that are bright year round? Or colorful wooden cutouts?

Q: alright so i dated this guy for almost 2 years, and i REALLY loved him. but he started changing and he became a complete asshole and treated me like shit. he broke up with me about 3 times and then came back, it was the hardest thing ever.. i just wanted to get things back the way they were but it was too late beacuse he was already soooo different!! it hurt horribly, but i realized he wasnt a good guy anyway and that i needed to move on. its been 3 months since we broke up, and 2 whole weeks sice weve talked AT ALL, its the longest weve gone without talking! and i knoww hes not coming back this time, i really hate him for evrything! but anyways back to the point!! i met this new guy and weve been hanging out a lot and i know he likes me because he pretty much told me strait up. i think i might actually like him, which is awesome beacuse i havent liked anybody else since my ex! eventually im sure he's going to ask me out, and im just not sure if i should? do you think it would be wrong to him since i dated a guy so long and probably still have feelings for him?? or do you think i should just go for it?! it might help me get over my ex?!

I think you have feelings for your ex because you've been with him for so long. So it's as familiar as day to day life for you.

Q: there is this guy who is a bit older than i am (we're both in college) and he works at the library ... in order to borrow anything from them i have to go through the reserve desk and that's where he works.... so anyhow... i've been doing everything: eye contact smiles everything... i've only gotten to the point where he realizes that i am interested and he acknowledges. he flirted a couple of times the day before but the next day there was less eye contact (though he would acknowledge my presence by smiling or looking or smiling to himself when i look over) i don't want to seem desperate or basically young and clingy but thats the way i feel when i see him... my stomach goes in knots and i can't help but look to see if he is there (he is a master's candidate and i am a senior- he pointed that out casually to "us" and my research group when we wanted to borrow projector equipment and so on).....
what should i do? i mean how do i get him to do something? and what should i say to him while returning stuff... what kind of small talk should i initiate?? AND HOW DO I KNW HE LIKES ME! i am Hispanic so i have a very small waistline and small bust and hugeeee thighs and knees (pear shaped) compared to the proportions of Caucasians which makes me feel very very conscious ... i am really confused i mean how do i tell if he finds me unattractive?!?!?!

Ask him about his work as a masters candidate. And if he starts to really get into the conversation (i.e. becomes more animated, etc) ask if he would like to talk some more about it over coffee.
It's taking the initiative but not a very strong one. It lets him know that you're interested and lets you learn more about him.
And if you're not feeling brave enough, talk about the books that you're checking out or casually talk about your classes. ("*sigh* Humanities 425 is a boring class.") Maybe he's taken it before.

Q: 15/F
okay so normally i dont really care about these things.
But its happened so often i think its time i do something about this.
Beofore i even get to explaining it i want you to know that breaking up is NOT an option for me.
Whenever im on the phone with my boyfriend and he has his friend or cousins over.
He NEVER talks to me, he just talks to the people hes in the rooom with, and leaves me holding the phone to my ear and looksing stupid.
yesterday, i hung up because it was getting really annoying, and it took him ten minutes to realize i hung up, and only THEN did he call me backk.
Then he just does the same thing over again.
Every now and then he would say
"sorry"
or
"uhh ... hang in a second" and then goof around or talk to the other people in the room for like twenty minutes!
While I, again, am STILL on the line.
Or whenever i would try and get him talking, he would be like "......sorry what?" over and over again.
If your going to call me, TALK TO ME.
I dont know any way else to put it.
It really makes me mad, i think hes trying to impress me with the face that he has an awesome life of laughter and friends.
And i really think thats good, but when my boyfriend calls me, i want to talk to him.
He can goof around later.
Now, i love him very much and hes really sensitive to what i say ...
but this has just got to stop.
He also is different in front of his friends in front of me.
He'll goof around with them, and call me when i even HEAR hes having a good time:
then later on he'll be like
"Ugh (so and so) is so annoying i hate him, i only hang out with his cuz i feel bad"
or something like that
Please give me any solutions?

Have you told him face to face how annoying it is? And how it's driving you crazy?
It doesn't sound like something to break up about. Just tell him what you wrote here. Confront the problem, discuss, and BOTH come up with ways to solve it.

Q: Has anyone ever felt such a strong physical pain left mentally by someone else? My ex boyfriend used to be everything, my superhero. He moved out to Rhode Island for me but it completely changed him. Our whole year of amazing love has turned into me being dirt in his eyes. We've had problems just like everyone else but we were always there for eachother. When he came here he started to fall into other girls and once he got a job and his own place to live it was like he was completely done with me. I feel so used but I don't want to believe it I want to believe in the guy I once knew. Its tearing me apart literally to the point of hyperventalation. Nothing I do can remind him of our promises nothing I say can change his heart and my heart can't accept that. How can I get his hurtful image out of my head?

Any professional will take you seriously.
Are you near a university? Because some universities have practices that their graduate students participate in and provide just as good a service at a pay scale. Contact any university's psychological services (you can find their contact info by going to their main website and search for "psychological services") and ask them about it.
If the problem is as serious as you are saying it is, then why not tell your parents? They would be able to form a support base for you. Or even going to an older, trusted family member could help. They could have connections or solutions that would be able to help you.

Q: I really need help on getting information about how to go about getting emancipated in New Hampshire, I just moved from Massachusetts and was going to do it there but I moved and have no information about it here. I've tried to look it up online but nothing is clear to as how to exactly go about it, or who I could possibly contact to get information about it or where to go.
I was kicked out of my house at 14, my mother left me at 7, and my dad kicked me out two years ago. He's a drug addict and I've been moving in and out of friend's houses since I moved out. I am 16 years old now and the guardian that I live with is no help with getting the stuff I need together, (signing up for school, a job, getting a car, opening a bank acount, etc.) If you can give me any advice on emancipation in NH please let me know.

Q: thanks a lot, last question though. sorry "/
um , what is the opposite of "fixed"? in myspace.
i dont want the image to stay in one place so what word do i put in as background position?
also, can i add "padding" in if so how would it look inside the ?
thanks one last tymeee! =]]] i love u!

No problem. Like I said, you can learn all sorts of cool tips and tricks from just picking up a CSS book or even googling "CSS coding"
Instead of putting a word for background position, you would delete that part of the code that has fixed as it's property.
You can't add padding to an image tag. is an image tag. It puts an image on the page. Padding is usually referred to in tables, sometimes padding around the page itself.
Go to your local library and check out a book =P There's plenty of them. And if they look intimidating, I do suggest CSS for dummies. I've used it a LOT of times. Hahaha.
Good luck with your coding!

Q: in padding what do you meaan the "space" there cant ever be a space around an image, cuz automatically there will BE space if you don tput text around it or something. huh?
and "Background-position means the position of your background: center, fixed, etc."
what are all kinds or bg position and what are they used for?
for example:
center- for the pic to be center
fixed-- what is fixed?
etc-
etc-
thanks so much ive been learning a lot of new codes
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
There are plenty of books and web pages out there that explain CSS WAY better than I can haha.
Padding is the "space" or "margin" you can put around an image. Kinda like a bubble. If you don't want an image to be right next to the edge of the window, you'd put in padding properties so that it would be like an inch in or something.
Fixed would mean that your bg image doesn't move. At all. Even when the user scrolls down, the image stays in place.
Again, a LOT more info (and REALLY cool effects) on using CSS in webpages so you don't have to limit yourself to JUST myspace. Once you've learned more about CSS coding, you won't need generators anymore. You can design your page in any way you want =D
