Ok, so i was on spacefem and i was taking a quiz and it asked me if i like dark ppl or am i dark.
I was like wtf is dark? Also, when i was younger i used to watch teen titans and one of the TTs {Raven} was dark and the only difference that i spotted is that she meditates and dresses completely in purple. Can someone tell me what dark means, personalitywise? (link)
Dark - brooding, angsty, pessimist, negative, always finding the bad in things, always expecting failure.

What are some good german rock/pop music? (link)
Scorpions
Helloween
Amon Duul II
Can
Tangerine Dream
KMFDM
Nico (Velvet Underground)
Steril
H-Blockx
Nargaroth
(these were ones I knew of off the top of my head)

you can find more at http://www.scaruffi.com/history/german.html
(I verified several of the bands that I thought were German by using this site - and also found that 2 bands I thought were German were not)

do moderators get to see questions ask to one person. (link)
Only the highest level mods have access to seeing that kind of information, and we only look if there's a need to look.

A few years back I tried those crest whitening strips. After a few tiresome weeks of having the crap on my teeth, I noticed some changes, all except for one tooth.

One of my teeth are capped. So I read the crest white strips box and it says "DOES NOT WHITEN CAPS." That's absolutely perfect. I have a very off colored tooth. As gross as it sounds it's actually kind of yellowish and I'm extremely embarassed about it.

I don't smile or anything becuase of it. I don't know what can all whiten caps or if brushing more with some whitening toothpaste will help at all. So to those of you with capped teeth, hopefully you can help. (link)
Caps can't be whitened. They tend to make caps match your other teeth... so the only way to whiten caps is to get new ones, which costs rather a large sum of cash.

Seriously - caps are, I believe ceramic, and cannot be whitened by peroxide, phosphate, or titanium dioxide based whitener.

ok so i have a yamaha acoustic guitar and i really want to put my tray on it but there is no like, idont know what they are called...strap holders? (the little things that you put the hole on that start around to keep it on) so what im wondering is-is there any way to put them on/have them put on and how much will it cost?

thanks ahead of it all♥ (link)
Those little metal things seem to go by a plethora of names. Attaching them to an acoustic is not something I'd toy around with - doing it wrong could easily destroy the guitar. Acoustics can be very tempermental and/or fragile instruments when it comes to drilling into them. Solid-body electrics are by far more forgiving.

Keep in mind that there isn't always a way to attach those knobs. However, you can get a strap and use a shoe string to tie one end to the headstock, and rig a sling to rest the butt of the guitar in, which would work. I believe they make straps with a sling on them, particularly for classical guitars, since classicals are made to be played sitting down.

The knobs themselves are very cheap. I picked up a spare set for $5. To have a guitar tech or luthier install them would probably not cost too much and they could do it quickly. No more than $20 (in my estimate) to install them (that would include the price to buy them, too).

how much are guitar lessons? (link)
It depends on the experience of your teacher and what you want to get out of the lessons - as well as how long the lessons are. Also, group lessons vs. individual lessons will factor in.

A more experienced teacher will cost you more than a new teacher. Long lessons will cost more than short ones. Individual lessons are more expensive than group ones.

I've seen some teachers as cheap as $10/hour. I've seen some that cost over ten times that.

All I can suggest is that you shop around. Find out what rates seem to be in your area (I guarantee that lessons will cost differently from city to city). Make sure you not only get rates, but talk to the teachers - ask them about their lessons, their methods... doing this will also give you a taste of their personality - hard to take a lesson from someone you can't stand.

i'm 14/f and i've had chicken pox already when i was in gr5. but iunno wuts happening theres all these red thingies appearing all over my body. what could this be? (link)
Yes, it is possible to get it again. Generally this happens if your immune system gets weak. Later in life, chicken pox appears as shingles, which are very painful.

Don't forget there are other things that cause pox/rash, like "5th disease" and the old-school mumps, measels and rubella.

What it really comes down to is this: have you changed detergents recently? New fabric softener? Have you eaten shellfish recently? Any new foods?

But more importantly, if the red thingies persist, see a doctor. Don't mess around with your health - no one on this site really knows what you could have because we're not doctors. If it doesn't clear up, see your doctor.

What is the difference between them? I have decided to put my faith into one of them cause i know they both involve Jesus and the Bible but how are they different?do you go to hell for being one over the other? do they worship the same god? and where can i get a bible? also is it true that luthern is based off the bible. I have ruled out Catholic. Also is mastrubating a sin? I will rate 5's for decent help.

---former athiast (link)
All Lutherans are Christian... not all Christians are Lutheran... Lutherans split from the Catholic church under their follower Martin Luther way back when.

The God of the Catholics is the same God of the Jews, Lutehrans, generic Christians, and any other faith descended from the Judeo-Christian family of religions.

Some old-school, closed minded thinking was that if someone didn't belong to your sect, they'd be going to hell. Since this meant that everyone was going to hell, people started to get their heads out of their asses and realize that was stupid to say that.

Masturbation is a matter of sexuality and some religions are rather strict about it, others less so.

I live in North Carolina and its JR High (link)
Ok.

I would still run under the assumption that team A's record is separate from team B's record. So if A wins, their record goes up, and if B loses, their record goes down.

If there's a combined record, then I have no clue how they'd determine who gets the win - generally "A" is "better" so their record would be the official one?

When in doubt, ask your coach.

And so you know, I've coached Jr. High boys v-ball, JV high school boys and girls, and assistant JV and Varsty boys and girls. My wife was the head coach.

this mornin i woke up and i had a hurt on my side at the bottom of my rib cage. it feels like i bruised it, but i didnt. it also hurts when i turn me upper body. any ideas on what it is or what i shuld do?
thanx (link)
When in doubt - see a doctor. If the pain is sharp and strong, you should definitely see a doctor - could be just a bruise, could be torn cartilege, could be a broken rib. Only by having it looked at will you be able to get an accurate diagnosis.

Ok, our big game is tommorrow againist our rival ((city folks againist country folks)) and both A & B team play their own games. We are 8-0. So what happens if A team wins and B team loses? (link)
Well, sports as such are subject to regional rules. I have no clue where you live so no one is going to know how sports are governed for you. If you lived in Ohio, I'd be able to help because I've coached volleyball here.

You're talking "A" and "B"... are both teams Varsity? JV? Freshmen? JR High?

If A wins, then A wins... I can't imagine how A and B would have a shared record - each team should have its own win/loss tally. If the two schools in question are playing for a trophy or something out of tradition, then how that trophy would be managed by wins/losses ae entirely up to the two schools.

I just got my electric guitar and I need to find a way to make my room sound proof so little noise will be heard outside. I have one dor and thats my only problem. How to make it sound proof.. Any sugestions?? (link)
Are you seeking to sound proof or sound deaden your room? In sound proofing, you would have to install slate, stone, tiling or something hard in your walls, then cover that with sound absorbing materials. I'll run under the assumption that doing this is beyond your means.

Sound deadening / sound dampening your room would be much easier. While I don't suggest you line your walls with insulation (as that is not cheap and will make your room really hot), you can get lots of pillows, blankets, put up curtains, and elevate your amp up off the floor. Hang a thick blanket over your door while you play to keep sound from passing through the door. Temporarially put something over any vent in your room to keep sound from travelling down ventillation shafts. Just look for places where sound could easily "escape" and do simple things to hinder the sound form exiting the room.

Anything soft will absorb sound, and that's the easiest thing to do.

I ran a mile in 7minutes and 52seconds. (15/f)

Is that good? (link)
That depends - if you're just starting out working on getting into shape, then that's probably not a terribly unreasonable time. If you run track, that's horrible. If you run cross country, that's really bad.

You'll hear many talk about a 5-minute mile. That is sort of the "standard" fast time for distance running.

ARGH.
So I'm trying to learn guitar, but I can barely stretch a comfortable octave on the piano.
Are there any finger stretching exercises I could do to get my fingers to...you know, like, work? Lol...
I find myself using my middle finger a lot (right now I'm just working on memorizing which notes are where), so the other fingers don't really get a whole lot of streching.
I had a friend laugh out loud when he watched me play Moonlight Sonata 'cause my thumb and pinky fingers were like straight lines trying to stretch the octave.
So yeah. Small hands, wanna play guitar (electric, not acoustic...not even gonna try that), need finger stretches.
No chatspeak, please!
-Siren =) (link)
My suggestions:

You CAN get a smaller scale guitar - there are 3/4 scale guitars, "0" scale guitars, etc... it might be worth your while to look into some of these "alternate" scales to better fit your hands.

You can work on increasing your finger dexterity, but you can't really get your hand to grow. You can increase the spread between fingers as well as hand strength and flexibility in getting your hands into some more complex/awkward chord fingerings.

You might consider any exercize that forces you to play repettitive large intervals, or to find alternate ways to get the same interval with less span (such as F to C... why go from the 1st fret on the low E string to the 9th fret, when you can play C on the 3rd fret on the A string?)

I had my period for two years not and it still doesnt come every month. Like when i do sports i never have it but over the summer i have. Is this normal? Im a 14/f. I asked my mom and she says its normal but my friends started last year and they have theirs every month. Do i need to get it chech or am I worring about nothing.
Thanks For the HELp (link)
That is perfectly normal. Changes in stress, physical activity and diet can all affect the regularity of your periond.

Has anybody on here had any experince with Everly guitar stings? (Specifically Acoustic phosphor bronze ------ .012 -.053) Are these strings durable? Have a nice tone quality? Overall? I'd like to have some opinions on these strings.

Thanks =) (link)
I have not tried Everly strings... but hey Tom Petty endorses them...

I actually just talked to 3 different guitarists I know... and not a single one of them have used Everly strings. Perhaps they just don't want to sound like the Everly Brothers... ;)

Think of it this way - guitar strings get replaced rather often... so if they are reasonably priced, why not buy a set and give them a shot. If you think they suck, you won't ever have to buy their strings again... if you love them, you just became a new customer.

Personally, I'm a D'Addario guy (though I still miss my Darco's on bass - I should have bought 100 sets back when they were still made).

i have played piano for over 6 years now and wanted to start learning the guitar. i didnt really want to have lessons but i was hoping there might be some sites on the net with some free beginners music.
i have done a google search and found a couple but i was hoping someone might be able to tell me like a really good one or something...thanks! (link)
While I don't want to sound like a jerk, I would recommend parusing some of what I've written in the past in my column:

http://www.advicenators.com/column.php?u=MFS&t=14

I've talked quite a bit of shop regarding guitar, bass, and music in general.

In addition, I've found Harmony Central to be useful: http://www.harmony-central.com/
OLGA has a wealth of resources and links to other excellent material: http://www.olga.net/

And THIS has been one of the handiest sites ever: http://www.gootar.com/folder/guitar.html

I still think the best way to start, once you've sort of messed around with the guitar to get a feel for it in your hands, is to try to choose a song you like with a solid but not too terribly difficult guitar riff and just try to learn to plan the main riff... and really just build from there. Even trying to play nursery rhymes / kids songs melodies is a good idea. You already know how "Baa Baa Black Sheep" sounds... so experiment and make your guitar play the same melody. It is a great way to learn a feel for the neck/fretboard, and a great way to train your ear.

Since you've been paying piano, you've got a good head-start. I'm not sure how much training you've had at playing by ear, so just keep that in mind. Also, it might be worth your while to try to take melodies you already know how to play on piano and learn them on guitar. Same for chord voicings - that last site I linked gives you chord mappings based on settings you feed the interface - it is very handy for looking up chords like Fm7b9b13...

Feel free to ask me music/guitar related things if you so choose.

Good luck!

hey i just got two dwarf hamsters. they are cool but i have a few questions. what dose the kissing noise mean? and how do you tell the gender of them? thanx. i give fives if you are serious. (link)
The noises I have no clue.

Hamster, being rodents, should be relatively easy to gender. With mice, we would look at the base of the tail and the distance between the anus and the "other bits". Boys have a fat tail base (that's where the testicles are) and a larger distance between the anus and penis. Girl mice had a shorter distance and had a slender tail base. Also, girls will have nipples in parallel rows.

is it true that you can get pregnant or get an STD when you have sex, even though your partner is wearing a condom?
(link)
yes

What are some good music artists that write their own stuff? does avril lavigne? (link)
Most rock bands write their own material. The people who crank out pop songs are the ones who typically do not write their own. Also, bands will do covers of older songs, too... don't discredit a band for doing that (unless their arrangement just really sucks) ;)

I believe Avril write her material, but I do not know if someone co-writes it with her. That is something to check out.
