gender of syberian dwarf hamsters
hey i just got two dwarf hamsters. they are cool but i have a few questions. what dose the kissing noise mean? and how do you tell the gender of them? thanx. i give fives if you are serious.

They usally make that noise when they are happy. How do I know and this is from my own experiance. The gender is a little harder. The males hve pretty big "Buts" and have a little skin showing on there stomach. I didn't have girls sorry.

no idea what the noise is. But the pet store should know the sex, because the hamsters can't be in mixed-sex cages or else they mate.

The noises I have no clue.
Hamster, being rodents, should be relatively easy to gender. With mice, we would look at the base of the tail and the distance between the anus and the "other bits". Boys have a fat tail base (that's where the testicles are) and a larger distance between the anus and penis. Girl mice had a shorter distance and had a slender tail base. Also, girls will have nipples in parallel rows.
