I want to go on a picnic with my boyfriend this summer sometime. I thought he would really like it since he's working all of the time and we always do the same things over and over together. A picnic would be a big change, you know? :) Sort-of like a nice surprise as long as I can figure out how to do it all by myself!

Anyway, what would one need to bring on a picnic to make it be considered fairly good? I've never been on a picnic before really :/

I think big deli sandwiches are the way to go, but also maybe a nice seafood salad or a potato salad to go along with it. You could also bake or buy a pie for desert as a surprise or maybe even a berry cobbler (don't forget the paper plates!).

As for drinks, Izze's are really good, or you could just get sodas, water, or freshly squeezed orange juice?

But whatever you decide to bring or make, don't forget a cooler to put it in, nothing yuckier then eating soggy warm sandwiches or even worse a warm seafood salad. (which all can be purchased at your local grocery store in the deli section).

It is 68 outside and 78 in here. Yet I have all the windows open and a fan going (I have no ceiling fans though). I don't understand why it is 10 degrees different outside.

I'm in a 2 bedroom apartment, what can I do to draw cold air in? Thanks.

My house can get super hot during the summer too, however we avoid it by shutting all the windows and doors that lead to the outside, and closing the curtains and blinds. Sometimes your house can be like a greenhouse. We still use our electricals as normal, but of course we avoid vacuuming and try not to use the oven so much. Try it for a day and see if it works.

Oh and just a note, we keep our windows open during the night and through the morning before it gets hot, so our house cools off during the night as well.

Stay cool!

My 9 month old Maine Coon cat was spayed last week. Her operation went well and her cut on her belly is healing just fine; however, I have noticed that now after a week she is getting a little pot belly/lump right under the incision on her belly. Is this normal? Has this ever happened to anybody's cat after they were spayed?

Are you sure its just a weight gain? Or is the area around the incision swollen? If the area is just concentrated on and only around the incision area (which should be quite small, so it's pretty easy to tell), then it could be a sign of an infection and I would have her examined by the doctor. A week later seems to quick a time for her to noticeably gain weight - its just very suspicious.

Of course some slight swelling and redness is normal after the surgery, if its TOO swollen then it could be a problem. I would sign her up for an exam just to be safe =)

I am moving in a few months to another country. I have two cats that need to go with us and I was wondering about air travel. They will go in the cabin with us, but I am sure they will scream and howl like crazy. What should I do? I have heard really bad things about sedatives and tranquilizers and that they are not reliable and can hurt the cat. They are both about 10 years old and I have heard that older cats might not wake up from tranquilizers. Is this true? Of course I don't want that to happen, but I also don't want any trouble from complaining passengers because of my cats' howling. Any advice?? Thanks!

Well, when I moved to the United States from the other side of the world, we brought our cat with us, in the cabin. Although she was as quiet as a mouse the entire 17 hour flight, I quite understand most other animals are not like that whatsoever.

First of all, I would schedule an appointment with the vet to get the cats a sedative. It is very unlikely that the sedative will harm them, unless of course you give them more than the recommended dose (and giving the vet the cats' ages is a factor in what medication and what dose the vet decides to prescribe).

Oh, and just a side note: if your cats don't howl in the car, most likely they will be fine on the plane. And also, if your cats are close (as in really good friends, and don't like to be separated), it may not be such a bad idea to put them in the same carrier, although I am not sure if the airline would allow that. But be sure to test that out before your flight.

my friend is doing weed and she has a drug test she needs to pass and she wants to know how you get weed out of your system and how long it should take?

I don't know how to get drugs out of your system, but I do know that drinking water in extreme quantities is toxic and can be fatal, so please be careful.

I want to do something that you have to train for. I'm just not sure what. I have plenty of time to do it. I'm a 15y/o girl just so you know. I'm homeschooled, so that's what I mean by I have plenty of time. I have a very flexible schedule. Anyway i'm just not sure what to do. Any ideas?
Any answers are greatly appreciated, take care.

Why not join a swim team? I used to be homeschooled, and I had a very flexible schedule too which allowed me to be very serious about swimming. I developed really close relationships with my team mates, and a few I know I will be in contact with for the rest of my life.

It really teaches you how to work hard for something, and overcome challenges.

Look for swim teams in your area. If you're not a great swimmer, it doesn't take long to learn the strokes, after that is just all about getting faster and improving your technique.

Of course, if swimming isn't your cup of tea (5am morning practices, swimming in the freezing rain, etc), you can try other sports, but at 15, it may be a little too late to join some of them (such as gymnastics, for example). There are different dance classes you can take (perhaps ballroom dancing?). Hockey? Soccer, basketball, volleyball? Figure skating (caution: very expensive).

But of course, being a swimmer, I'm going to recommend swimming. Because it is pretty easy to learn (the actual swimming part comes naturally to a lot of people), and you might even have a chance of being a really fast swimmer (even maybe at the Olympic level) in 5 to 8 years, if you train and work hard and are in good shape (oh and swimming WILL melt the pounds off... plus it works pretty much every muscle in your body). Although it is very challenging, both mentally and physically, it is fun and the relationships you build with team mates are really rewarding. Also you learn so much about yourself. AND you can even swim for college and get a scholarship.

so i kept my dog at the vets for a day &_ they told me something was wrong with her neck.
butt that was about three days ago.
&_ now her backs completly arched to the left.
&_ she can barely holdl her self up. like her two back legs keep fallin into the splits &_ she juss drags them.
also shes like extremely jumpy. like if shes laying down then i go up to pet her she jumps.

any ideas whats wrong?
please juss be 1OO% truthful.

Most likely it is just a pulled muscle, however that doesn't mean she won't have to go to the vet. Make an appointment as soon as you can. Be prepared to spend some money. Although most pulled muscles are easy to diagnose, the vet may want to do xrays. Most likely they will prescribe something for the pain as well. Don't freak out, but be prepared for a possible expensive vet bill. Although she is obviously in pain, she is not about to die any time soon. It sounds what is bothering her isn't a disease, so it should be easier to treat, but then again you never said anything about her eating or drinking, and what kind of shape her body is in, for example swelling, lesions, etc. For exampe, it could turn out to be an abscess as well.

I'm going to start taking the birth control pill, TriNessa this month and was wondering what were the regular/normal side effects?

I've been reading online that a lot of women have experienced severe acne and major mood swings. Is this common?

If you take TriNessa, what side effects do YOU get?

Thanks :)

When you start any birth control, you will get stomach upstes an naseua so take it before bed so you will just sleep through it. With trinessa, my side effects were dry skin, and at first I did break out but now my skin is clearer than ever. I was also a little more moody, and experienced a little bit of a weight gain. It does make your periods much lighter, and now I don't get cramps, just on the first day. I've been on it for eight months, and am happy with it just the first month or so is unpleasant, and the first three don't really do anything for your period. You just have to wait it out.

i work at a day care with 3,4, and 5 year olds and i have a 3 year old who likes to spit and everything we have tried backfires also she acts out a lot throws a ton of tantrums and agrees to everything even if u say she will go to time out or go up front or something like that cause her mom works there so she thinks she will get to see her but the spitting just needs to stop but we dont know how. any ideas

Have you talked to the mother about this? I'm sure the mom has had to deal with this problem before, and has her own way of managing it that works. Tell her what you have tried, and ask what she suggests to do when this occures.

Don't think that going to her makes you look like you are bad with children or inept in anyway. In fact, I think the mother will appreciate that you are honest enough to tell her about this problem and that it shows that you care. She will be able to develop more trust in you and the day care facility.

Okay so I have the initials of my ex boyfriend tattooed on my wrist (RS) and well he is my ex so no longer. I really like the tattoo though and don't want to cover it up anytime soon. I know I will never forget what it really means, but I was wondering if anyone knew of words or a phrase with the letters "R" and "S" that I could tell people it means. I'm just tired of saying what it really means and then having to get into the whole story about it. thanks! hope to hear something soon! By the way the phrase has to start with R so ya...

Really Stupid?

im 15 years old, female, 5'5, and about 105-110 pounds. im pretty thin, actually really thin, but i have like a little pouch on my stomach. i dont get it. i dont eat a ton, and its always there. like extra belly fat. i have small love handles too. does anyone know why this is, and how i can get rid of them? thanks!

I have the same problem. What I do is lay flat on my back, and then put my hand on my lower stomach (below the navel) and lift up my legs (bent, so that your lower back doesn't come off the floor) and feel when my stomach muscles feel hardest, and let my legs be at that angle, and stay like that for 30 seconds, then 20, then 15, and then for 10, for 9, and like that down to five. Also, if you put your legs apart (again, bent at the knee) it works your sides as well.

Just a note, you WILL feel ridiculous doing it, so do it in private =P

I always do it right before bed, and when I wake up my body looks a bit more toned up (and probably because I haven't eaten for 8-10 hours because I was sleeping), and it just helps keep you motivated to do it.

hi am 13 am a boy and i have problem running,i quickly get out of breath please write

It just means you're out of shape. Plan out a route to run everyday. Try to run it as much as possible, but if you start feeling really out of breath, just walk for a bit, then pick up the running pace again. If you do that route consistently (everyday if you want to get better fast), you'll find it get easier and easier.

Is it possible to love someone in highschool, get pregnant, and stay with that person?
And i don't just mean puppy love.
I mean REAL REAL love. We're you go through bad times and hard times and fun times and sexual times and aren't ever embarassed in front of eachother and tell the 100 percent truth.

Bringing a child into the world and taking care of it properly is difficult at any age (especially financially, and emotionally as well), much less high school.

Its possible, but the vast majority of guys don't stick around. Its extremely unfair on the kids' parents, who are usually the ones responsible for taking care of their child and grandchild. The teenagers, (but usually it ends up being the mother) misses out on getting an education (I go to a junior college, and you'd be surprised how many 30-50 year old women there are trying to finish they're education, and the majority of their stories are the same, they got pregnant in high school or in college and were forced to drop out).

The chances of everyone being happy and well cared for is very slim.

okay well my boyfriend is having a party in two weeeks and i really am excited. The only bad thing is is that all his friends do drugs and drink. My boyfriend dosne't do these things but he still will allow it at his party. I have 2 problems

1. I cant tell my parents because they would not let me go if that stuff was going on there. i have never been to a party like this before so i am kinda nervous myself.

2. My friends are super good and won't come of there is drugs and alcohol there either so i will be by myself. My boyfriend is super popular and it is his party so he will be mingling with others there to. Not just me.

So what should i do?

Don't go. Simple as that.

Explain why to your boyfriend, and plan a day together for just the two of you so he doesn't get hurt. Bake him cookies or a cake, or YOU take HIM out to dinner to make it up to him.

Edit: didn't say to make him cancel his party. Just don't go to it if you don't want to be in that environment.

ok i went on a date with this girl i met on myspace and she thinks i'm cute and stuff and she very pretty herself she said she wants to go to know me but anyway the date was awesome i like to take things slow so all i did was just hold her hand and put my arm around her and the whole night she couldn't stop smiling but she said she didn't feel anything and she sees me as a friend i kinda wish i did more what i'm asking is if we go out again could this change?

Okay, I am in the same situation, except the same situation as the girl.

I met a guy on a trip on New Year's, talked to him for almost a month on myspace, he took me on a date, which was super fun, I had a good time. He was also very minimal on the physical contact.

Even the guy was super sweet, and I had fun on the date, I just didn't feel anything. Even though I did really like him when we talked on myspace (or I thought I did.)

When you talk over the internet, or through text, you kind of forget what the person looks like, also you don't see body language. So when you're talking to them, you kind of imagine it in your head, and when you go and talk to them in person, or over the phone, usually its not what you expected.

So, me and the guy are really great friends right now, we still talk every day, but he understands that I don't see him that way.

I suggest you do the same, keep talking, but don't suggest going anywhere for a while, and if you do, then in a group, like you'll bring some of your friends and she'll bring some of her friends. Who knows, once she gets to know you better (in real life) her feelings may change.

I have really uneven skin tone so foundation is a must. and if I don't set it with powder, it'll wear off in like, an hour. I can't use just mineral powder alone because it too doesn't last. I try oil blotting pads and everything.

but that is besides that point. I'm in school under freaking FLUORESCENTS.

and knowingly, my make up looks caked on and awful.

help=[

Just a quick tip I picked up somewhere: to avoid your make up looking cakey, use either all liquids, or all powders. So for example if you're using a liquid foundation, to set it use a spray. If you're using powder foundation, set it with a powder. Same thing with blush, too.

Also, I agree with what someone said below me, mix your foundation with moisturizer, it really prevents the cakey appearance but still covers, and moisturizes.

I dont want to be a vet tech or vet assistant i just want to be a veterinarian, learn everything there is to be an animal doctor. so far i can only find colleges for vet techs and vet assitants. Im looking for a college in denver colorado or pheonix arizona.
Also how long until i finish school to be a veterinarian and what high school classes can help me get into vet college.

Thanks! - C

Since you got the answer for the first part of your question, I'll answer the second.

A veterinary technician usually has at least an associates degree or a bachelors. An assistant typically has no schooling, and get payed less, and are allowed to do less on the job.

What a vet tech can't do:
They cannot do surgeries: however they can prep the animal for surgery, hand the doctor tools, (but usually that consists of getting them some more gauze or a new blade, if you work at a small animal clinic, emergency hospitals its probably quite different, but I have never worked at an emergency facility). Administer and regulate the anesthesia machine, assist in small surgical procedures like draining wounds, but nothing big. (however this can very from state to state, some states you can do more than that)

Techs can do dentals (clean and polish the teeth), but again nothing surgical like pulling teeth or drilling or sawing.

The job largely consists of receptionist work, talking to the owners, weighing animals, taking temperatures, cleaning kennels, and endless nail trims.

I'll be honest, its not something I want to do for the rest of my life, it gets boring after you get the hang of it. I would highly suggest calling up a few of your local animal clinics and just volunteering, or maybe you can even get a job cleaning kennels (but believe me, they'll let you stick around and watch a few surgeries). Get to know the vet, ask him or her questions, so you can really see if that is something you want to do. Just really put yourself in that environment.

What I did was I started volunteering when I was 14, and then I got hired shortly after after I got the hang of things. I worked part time for almost three years and then quit, because it got boring and very repetitive. The job requires lots of patience, good people skills, good animal skills and good thinking skills. I am really glad for my experience however, even though I now know that its not something I want to do.
