Pregnancy

Question Posted Wednesday January 21 2009, 9:10 pm

Is it possible to love someone in highschool, get pregnant, and stay with that person?
And i don't just mean puppy love.
I mean REAL REAL love. We're you go through bad times and hard times and fun times and sexual times and aren't ever embarassed in front of eachother and tell the 100 percent truth.

Bringing a child into the world and taking care of it properly is difficult at any age (especially financially, and emotionally as well), much less high school.

Its possible, but the vast majority of guys don't stick around. Its extremely unfair on the kids' parents, who are usually the ones responsible for taking care of their child and grandchild. The teenagers, (but usually it ends up being the mother) misses out on getting an education (I go to a junior college, and you'd be surprised how many 30-50 year old women there are trying to finish they're education, and the majority of their stories are the same, they got pregnant in high school or in college and were forced to drop out).

The chances of everyone being happy and well cared for is very slim.

Absolutely! My best friend's parents got pregnant with her when they were sixteen years old, and are still happily together with four children today. Obviously things are very difficult, but if a couple is willing to be mature and work hard, a highschool pregnancy can almost turn out to be a good thing (not that I'm suggesting kids go out and get knocked up, just that someone can turn a negative experience into a positive one).

It obviously all depends on the circumstances, but I've seen couples stick it out through some of the absolute worst situations. Anything is possible with a little, or in some cases, a lot of hard work!

KAT.

It IS possible and HAS happened.
but it is rare.
A lot of high school relationships never work out, even if they feel they are in "real real love". The sad thing is, people change as they mature. Relationships included.

i have the ansir2urprolem, everyone has there own personal outlook on life my personal opinion is yes, anything is possible, people search a lifetime to find true love the lucky ones find it early in life, i mean there are pros and cons to this situation, both people of the relationship have to feel the same way of course and if both people of the relationship are willing to commit, sacrifice, and trust eachother till the end of time then i don't see where any given relationship would go wrong, but keep in mind there is a whole world out there, but hey if you found it you found it right! "you know you found the one when you put them before yourself."

sincerely,

Is it possible?

Yes. Its possible. It would require two very mature individuals to pull off though.

The reason high school relationships almost never work out is that people change alot from high school and beyond.

I'm 24, and not remotely the same person I was when I was 20, much less 18 or 16. I have different views, different likes and dislikes, different habits, etc.

It gets even more complicated because in a high school relationship both of you are changing. Can you change in ways that are compatible, or adapt to each other? Yeah. But you both have to want it, and you both have to be the kind of people who are that accepting. Not everyone falls into that category.
