I want to go on a picnic with my boyfriend this summer sometime. I thought he would really like it since he's working all of the time and we always do the same things over and over together. A picnic would be a big change, you know? :) Sort-of like a nice surprise as long as I can figure out how to do it all by myself!
Anyway, what would one need to bring on a picnic to make it be considered fairly good? I've never been on a picnic before really :/

Just remember that if you put cheese, don't let them sit in the heat too long. You could also try some sort of salad: potato salad, macaroni salad, fruit salad.. For dessert try dipping strawberries in melted chocolate and then freezing them or putting them on a frozen cookie pan. But again, most of this food has to stay a bit chilly, so don't leave it in the car too long or anything. Take it all out of the fridge right before going to the picnic.

As for drinks, Izze's are really good, or you could just get sodas, water, or freshly squeezed orange juice?
But whatever you decide to bring or make, don't forget a cooler to put it in, nothing yuckier then eating soggy warm sandwiches or even worse a warm seafood salad. (which all can be purchased at your local grocery store in the deli section).

For snacks, we bring fruit; either chopped up into bite-sized pieces, or berries. A great idea if you have the time is to make chocolate covered strawberries. For drinks, a sparkling wine is always nice, but if you're underage, just bring a bottle of pop. Fresca is great for picnics. [ NinjaNeer's advice column | Ask NinjaNeer A Question ]
laynemayhem answered Thursday June 4 2009, 12:44 am: what i would do if i were you is get some apples, bananas, strawberries and grapes, and some fruit juice. and maybe even those little cans of canned fruit. cut up the fruit, and put it all together. make a fruit salad as a side dish.
and then get some fried chicken legs, (made by yourself, or from KFC. either way, you cant go wrong with chicken on a picnic). and then some pudding and whipped topping for dessert.
(thats all for food)
now, for the picnic itself, bring a table cloth to sit on. and (if you're old enough) maybe some red wine. if you're not 21 yet, then just bring some sparkling grape juice.
Darby answered Thursday June 4 2009, 12:44 am: I would keep it simple. Make sure you don't bring anything with you that could spoil, like Mayo. You don't want anyone to get sick.
Cold lunch meat sandwiches would be good. Peanut butter sandwiches are also a good option. If you're just going to be going out for the picnic and it won't be a long time that the food is not out of the refrigerator, fruits are a good choice too. They're healthy and good to snack on. Bring some individual bags of chips too. Trail mix or Chex mix are good too.
As far as drinks, freeze a couple bottles of water (Not completely frozen solid, but just until they're extremely cold) and bring individual tea, kool-aid, or other drink mix packages that you poor in and shake up.
