I`m a straight A student. Last week I grabbed the wrong composition notebook so I wasn`t able to turn in my weekly D.O.G Work. My teacher refused to take it when I turned it in late for half credit. I told her today I admit I made a mistake and asked if there was anything I could do. ( my grade was a 96 but since I didn`t turn it down it went to a 71%) She yelled at me, Told me she wouldn`t grade any crap that I would do to get extra credit, laughed in my face, and completly insulted me ( and made me cry ; I don`t cry easily ) in front of the whole class. Now getting a C wouldn`t upset me, however if I don`t get 98 or above on ALL my papers/projects/tests from now on that grade could easily fall to an F and I would be kicked off of the cheerleading squad and lose my Captain position. What do I do ? I Have no hope of getting any sorta extra credit ; progress reports come out on this coming Monday and my coach always does grade checks.
PLEASE HELP ME. (link)
|
Tell your parents what happened and what the teacher did. Have them go directly over her head to the principal and the trustee for the area. I am sure it will be resolved. You deserve to keep your cheerleading position so involve the coach too. Some of these teachers need their ass kicked by parents now and then for pulling this kind of junk and singling out a child for a mistake they never meant to make.
Make sure you and fellow adults make your opinions known if she always treats you in this manner. Someone should ask her "Do you have a problem or a chip or your shoulder?" I could see the anger, the insults etc if you constantly did this but you are a good kid and stay out of trouble and don't make excuses.

Hey guys..i am 15 and i am about to get my permit..so my first car is going to be a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 with leather, big tires, and a system..is that bad like for a first car? (link)
|
No it is not. Most people your age would kill to drive a brand new 2005 automobile and would not care the make, color, interior etc. Most of us have had to drive in used vechiles perhaps 8-10 years old and we are grateful for it.
Be happy with what you are driving and understand a lot o people your age are saving up and still do not get the best car going when they need one. I would not bitch or gripe about this ride. Enjoy what you have it's a privelege to drive anything.

Hello. I was just at my friends yesterday and from about 6 to 10 she was on the computer talking to her "internet boy friend" so i hung out with her sister. Then this morning same thing over again. Her dad even told her that it was rude and she didnt care and she knew i was upset. Shes the one that invited me so it makes very little sense too me. Shes my best friend and i dont want to stop being her friend or going to her house but shes a little to attached to her computer. What should i do? (link)
|
If I were you I would be blunt and straight up to the point. Ask her why did you invite me if all you wanted to do was spend time online? Tell her you felt she wasted your time in asking you when she did not spend any time with you.
If this annoys her so be it but at least she knows it is rude and guests will take offense. As far as the Internet boyfriend goes the person may or may not be who they say they are.
You ought to point that out to her and that her never getting off the computer to go outside or do things with her friends or guests means there is a problem. Hopefully, her parents will see that also. In the meantime hang out with other people and do not bother with her until she realizes what she is doing.

I feel numb. I can get out of bed, go to work, joke with people, do things I love, and still feel this way. I just can't seem to shake it off. I feel hollow inside, and I don't really know WHY.
Sometimes I only sleep 2-3 hours a night. Other nights I sleep 12-13 hours. I also do not eat properly anymore, even on my good days. Some days I'll just eat an apple for breakfast/lunch and about 1/3 of my dinner. I just don't feel hungry. But even when I am starving, I fix up a big meal and try to put the food in my mouth, but I have to stop because it makes me feel like vomiting. Believe me, I fix meals every day and try to eat snacks but most of it ends up in the trash or back in the fridge. I don't think I am fat, in fact, I think I am too skinny and wouldn't mind some curves on my body. I think maybe my mind is in such anguish that it wants the body to suffer too.
Please don't be like... just eat something!!! Just be happy!!! Believe me, I TRY. It's not as easy as some people think. I have been down the road of counselling (no help) and meds(made me act ADD) for depression before, but this feeling seems different to me. Just numbness, not really saddness/pain/hopelessness like the depression I felt in the past (about 3 years ago). (link)

Hi,
I will not offer a possible diagnosis. However, with this happening suddenly there are two possible things you ought to ask your psychiatrist about. Number one say to him/her everything you stated above and ask why did this happen all of sudden when I was fine? This is what they need to figure out for you.
Secondly, the single most important thing to bring up is I had depression or felt this way X number of years ago but now it is more intense and all consuming. Your doctor must know if there is a history of such problems.
What you have not told me/anyone and it's of high importance do you feel depressed one moment and high the next? If any of that is happening to you along with irritability and mood swings you need to tell someone as it's a precursor for bipolar. Sudden changes in apetitite, inability to eat will all fold into the diagnosis. You need to call your doctor again and tell him/her how you are feeling.
Numbness, weight loss, apetite supressed, focus problems that look like ADD all of it are tied into mental illness and you do need help here and prehaps the opinion of another doctor. Make sure you take the doctor what you wrote down above so they can make a note and get things right.
You may find this link helpful on depression and mood disorders www,teentalknetwork.com/reel.htm hit guest and Karen Liberman. It's an interview about mood disorders and what each one is. It could be helpful in pinpointing what is happening with you.

I have acne on my forehead, chin, and right and left cheeks. This guy that I like tells me I have pimples and I'm like...umm ok? I want to get ride of them and i use BenzaClin and makeup and nothing seems to help. We have a four day weekend, and I have to go back to school on Monday and I want them to be gone by then! I rate high for good answers and I really want them to be gone by then. I really like this boy and I'm pretty sure he doesn't like me, and I'm flirtatious and anything so what am I doing wrong?
Basically, I wanna know how to get rid of my pimples, and how to get [lets call him S] to like me.
Thanks.
I RATE 5'S FOR HELPFUL ANSWERS (link)

I had no other way to reply to the person asking for help then to put more information here. It has been an awfully long time since I required the same medication you do. Most of the medications come in a long toothpaste like tube. It's important not to over apply it as they wil indeed burn your skin if you do. I cannot remember names of them off the top of my head. Sorry about that.

Hey,
I need some help with flirting! I am a shy girl but I tend to over-act and get silly when I like someone. How can I flirt subtley and not just look like a prat?
To the guys: what do you like a girl to do when she flirts with you? (link)
|
Flirting is an art and the best way to learn it is to watch others at it. That's the best way but to also know one thing--never look fake or go over the top.
Universal with flirting is the twirling of the hair, foot tapping, playing footsie if he sits across from you, smiling at him. Then if you can find a few things to compliment him publically on try that. Being subtle is rather easy you just have to know not to do any of things every time you see him and play up on them when the moment is right.
As far as beingv shy goes he's no different than you around the opposite sex either even if he looks confident. Be yourself, relax and have fun with it. Eventually he will see and figure out what you are up to. Being shy works to the advantage guys like a girl who blushes now and then and stammers when she gets caught looking at him.
It's a turn on for some of us. Nervous giggling too is natural. Just be who you are and I'm sure he'll be interested in finding out more.

i was wondering if excessive vaginal discharge and smellier discharge could be a sign of pregnancy..im 3 days late on my period, thanks! (link)
|
No it is not the sign of pregnancy. If you have discharge that stinks it is the sign of an infection. You should march yourself into a gynaecologist's office as soon as possible and get it treated. As far as being late on your period maybe you are pregnant but the discharge and smell is not related to it.

I am asthmatic (not excessively so but I can't run for a long, long time) but I want to excersize. I already walk to school. Do you know of any other low-impact (and hopefully fun!) excersizes I can do? (link)
|
Before beginning routines you ought to consult your phsician. They will know what you cannot do when it comes to your condition and what you can do. They can prescribe and reccomend the right program. As far as low impact goes swimming or riding a bike may be something that will not cause trouble.

what are some good ways to ask someone to dance at a club? (link)
|
"Hi, my name is (insert here) I noticed you from the corner of my eye and thought you have great moves. With you mind teaching me some of those dance steps? I would love to dance with you if you don't mind that is." She will certainly like that better than the idea of some random guy trying to pick her up. As for asking guys it's simple "Wanna dance?" That works on us girls look for sincerity and no to be treated as eye candy.

hey
i was wondering how old do u have to be to get into a rated R movie..and if your to young all you need is your parents permission right??
thanks in advance! (link)

This is one I can answer with ease and confidence. I review films for a living. I am assuming you live in the United States. If you do not pop me an inbox message. The United States has a static rating system employed by the MPAA ratings board. Here's your breakdown.
Here is your guide to how the United States movies are rated by the MPAA and they are static unlike in the U.K. and Canada with different provinces/cities having their own system.
If you see G. This means the film is open to everyone all ages. PG means you should see it with a parent. PG-13 means the film should not be seen without a parent unless 13.
NOW FOR THE R RATING YOU ASKED ABOUT. By law you must be 17-years-old to get in and ID typically is asked for and your parents cannot say "She/he can see this." They will not sell you a ticket because theaters can get fined under the code.
NC-17 means no children or anyone under 18. It contains material that borders on porn or is porn.
While you can have parents rent whatever they want for you from the videostore and you can see it movie theaters will not allow it as they can get in shit for any minor found in the theater.
I hope this helps you understand how the system works. The system is not perfect though much to my and your chagrin no doubt. R in the U.S. sigh, means children who are 14 in Canada can see that movie you don't get to until it hits video.
I wish the system reflected the fact some teens are mature enough to see the film under the age of 17 for an R rating but they do this to keep out ones who are not.
While 27-years-old a former counsellor (why I am here), Canadian, journalist and syndicated movie critic/producer/host there's not much I can do in the profession to change the rating system or make it universal for all countries. Wish I could.
I'm also a MODERATOR here under GDROB and have worked for Teen Advice Online and others in the past Someone asked for a description of myself so there it is. I also know a lot about mental health too being a consumer survivor. Anyway, back to film.
I'm not advertising but perhaps you and your friends might like my show that explains the film world to teens, and is an engaging forum on all kinds of topics not just film. Try it out http://teentalknetwork.com/reel.htm and send me an e-mail if you have feedback, poems or whatever else to share to reeltalk@teentalknetwork.com
Thanks!

I'm so screwed. I haven't missed my period yet, I'm due for it Friday, but my friend is bringing me a pregnancy test tomorrow. I had sex without a condom, and my boyfriend pulled out but I'm still paranoid about it, and yes I know I have a good reason to be.
Anyways...I'm going to take a pregnancy test Saturday. I think I will be with my boyfriend when I do it. What I want to know is how do I tell my parents and what should I do? I'm so scared right now I'm crying...my parents have always known me as their good little girl that never did anything wrong. I feel like dying.
=( (link)
|
They may be disappointed but proud you came to them and dealt with it like a woman. To your parents they do see you as a little girl but would be upset if that little girl did not own up to what happened and face it head on. They taught you that and when parents say always come to me I will be there they mean it regardless of what happened.
You had sex and a lot of teens have sex. Sometimes things happen with condoms and lack of good birthcontrol and a girl becomes pregnant. THAT IS NOT HER FAULT. I don't give a shit what anyone tells you loads of girls unfortunately have unwanted pregnancy for a variety of reasons and it is not their fault if a pregnancy happened. It was the case with my cousin at 17--brand new mom.
I think you should stay clam as nobody knows if you are pregnant yet and buy two tests and if positive tell your mother and work through this together. You will need their help to stay healthy if pregnant. Let's hope you are not. Good wishes here either way. If you need to vent you know how to find my inbox.

Ok, for a couple weeks, I have been noticing that my underwear after I wear it has some sort of a white paste on it. I don't know what it is and I don't want to ask my mom. It kinda looks like goo/gel. I wear thongs but I don't think that started it. I've noticed it before than. Note: I haven't started my period yet.
I'll rate 5's. Thanks! (link)
|
Hi,
Relax and be calm. Your mother if she saw this in your underwear would simply not bring it up thinking you were taught in health class. It happens to every woman or teenage girl. Did you know that your vagina cleans it self out? Well that is what is happening here. Fluids or whiteish discharge is normal provided it does not smell funny. If it's the latter case you have an infection to be treated.
The white fluid is your vagina cleaning it self out. Also, whitish/yellowish discharge also happens to tell you when you are ovulating. If it's the latter menarche may not be far off. For now, relax and be your good self and do not worry. Your vagina is doing everything it is supposed to be naturally right now.

My boyfriend was sick previously for a couple of days. One of the nights that he was really sick I happened to be with him. I didn't leave him all night, I was constantly making sure he was okay and if he needed anything. He told me he appreciated this a lot. The downside of me being with him that night is that he got me sick too. So, all day today I've been pretty sick. You could see it in my eyes how horrible I felt. He commented on that a few times throughout the day. I constantly told him I felt pretty bad. He said sorry. Tonight I called, told him I was feeling very sick. He was watching T.V and was kind of ignoring me, so I just told him I'd call him back with an 'I guess' at the end- hinting how I wanted him to stay. He didn't.
It kind of bothers me how I was waiting on him hand and foot and not letting it bother me that I was practically a butler for him for a night, but he couldn't do a simple thing such as stay on the phone and comfort me.
Is this selfish of me to want comfort and attention from him? (link)
|
Okay this one will hard to wrap your head around so read it twice. Guys are BIG sucks when sick and want people to mother them. Their mom's did it for them and now they think you ought to. It's okay if you help and he was really sick but if they are not doing it back for you then stop. What goes around comes around.
I hate to say it but when it comes to being sick guys want their mom deep down. When they cannot have that they want a girlfriend to coddle them and make it better. Unless he gives this back to you then do not always come to his aid. He's a big boy and you are a big girl who can handle themselves when sick.
With guys we are also idiots sometimes and forget the girlfriend helping us is not something that is static and can go away. We better show appreciation but some of us idiots do not considering where our brains are located ;) So, if he does not want to help sigh and accept you cannot change him. And also be firm on never rushing to his aid when sick unless he's dying or hospitalized. He'll get it then.

ok i totally like this guy and no i no for a fact that he doesnt like me the way i like him but i can NOT stop thinking about him what do i do because it's driving me crazy!! please help me thanks (link)
|
If he does not like you in that way you cannot continue hoping he will. It is a real time waster to be honest and fair with you. For now, relax and if possible make him a friend. If he will not do that then he's a jerk who loses out on your charm, intellect, and well just everything that is roled into you.
Take the effort here you had with him and settle down for a while with the hormones and ooh he looks nice I want to date him idea. Nice looking guys or girls can be awful jerks. See around you who you would be compatible with by knowing all you can about them then let the hormones out and pounce. It's better that way then allowing this or any other guy to break your heart in two.

Does anyone know of any movies that have dancing in them?
I need hip hop or straight up street dancing movies.
Apart from Honey and You Got Served. (link)
|
Why not check out RIZE? It is in video stores now and is about two new forms of hip-hop dancing called Krumping and Clowining. A guy named Tommy "The Clown" Johnson created the moves and has kids from South Central dancing with him in different tribes with warrior paint on. They hold Battle Zone competitions and Christina Aguilera used the movies in her Dirrty video. Check out tommytheclown.com and read this review http://www.koaa.com/features/reeltalk/review.asp?id=1375&ReviewID=1347
An interview with Tommy is either still up or achived on teentalknetwork.com hit "Reel Talk" from the drop down menu. A direct link for it is here http://www.newvoices.info/audio/ttn/talk2.ram
There are a lot of dance moves you can lift and the movie is brilliant and will save a lot of kids from gangs and a life of crime or on the road to nowhere. Check it out and hopefully, teens will get into it. It got shitty promotion from a studio that did not know how to market it.

At what age is it appropiate for a person to have sex? Ss we get older the standerds seem to be dropping. I just read a question by a thirteen-year-old asking if she should get on "the pill" if she has had sex. Since when is that what is on a 13-year-olds mind? (link)
|
It is based on maturity and when someone is ready for sex. This decision should be based on having all of the proper information, love, and most of all whether or not a partner is using you for instant gratification.
It is never based on age. I do feel that 13-year-olds do not know what they are doing if sex is something they plan to do. They ought to wait as they are not ready for adult consequences or situations. Unfortunately, we cannot stop them but we can give the information they need so a wrong decision is less likely to be made.

I just recently became a columnist and I went to go look at the list of the other columnists. I noticed that most of the others have rating stars next to their name. What are these for? Do I not have them because I'm relatively new? (link)
|
At this site columnist get rated by the crowd they give advice to. Much like a hotel or movie a one star rating means you are giving lousy advice with a four star rating meaning fantastic. You do not have stars until someone rares you. It is Dangernerd's way of making sure that people appreciate the advice they get and the people giving bad advice get booted.

I'm a virgin. I thought I would start out with that.
I am 15 years old and I masturbate sometimes. But the thing is, after I do it, I feel really guilty and stop and don't do it for about a month.
It feels good when it's happening but after, I feel sick to my stomach.
I have never had a boyfriend and I'm not sexually active at all besides masturbating.
People say it's normal but it's not really publically accepted for teenage girls.
I just want to know if it's normal how I feel. (link)
|
Hon, you are not doing anything dirty or wrong or unclean or not natural. Doctors and educators will tell you it's common among teenagers and girl's especially with most of her sexual stimulation and excitement coming from clitoral orgasms.
A lot of girls do not climax or feel anything from sex. You are not going to go to hell, blind etc. You feel guilt because of what you were taught by others. Children do it, teens, adults, seniors, fetuses have been seen in ultra-sounds doing it. Face it, if you were not supposed to touch it your hands would be built far away from it.
It is supposed to feel good during and after. As far as feeling sick I have no idea why or how to recommend stopping that.
There is nothing at all shameful about masturbating it is better than getting pregnant from sex. Being a virgin is a good thing too. It's about when you are ready. The right guy for sex and or a boyfriend will come.
It is normal to enjoy masturbation and it's nrmal to feel that but not to feel nauseated over it. I bet you 99% of guys you know do it and 70% of girls. The rest are religious or lying most of the time. Bottom line: It's about your body and learning for it and your choice nobody else's who cares what they think?

I've always loved government and law. But, I don't wnat to be a lawyer. What other jobs have to do with law? (link)
|
You could be a journalist and a specialist for trials, inquests, crime. This will take you four years of college as well as hard work freelancing, and building a portfolio. The market for journalism is extremely bad right now. It likely will be after graduation too. Been there, done that.
Have you considered being a lwa clerk for a lawyer? You still need the degree but you would be running around doing research for cases. That is an important role to do with law.

What is that piercing called when it's right above your lip off to the side (kinda where Marilyn Monroe had a beauty mark)? (link)
|
It is indeed a labret piercing. If you use Google and run a search for About.Com's Body Piercing Page you can see examples and learn about it incase you want one. My advice, don't I think it's not attractive.
