Q: I have a new hamster. When she is on her wheel, it is really loud. It is keeping everyone up and I was wondering if there was anything I can do. I am going to try to find a different wheel, but I am not sure if there are any quiet ones out there. Does anyone know what I can do for right now, until I can find a new wheel?
Thanks!

Q: What are the symptoms of Mono?
Please no websites.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Early on, vague complaints of "not feeling well," headache, tiredness, chilliness, puffy eyelids, and decreased appetite are common. Later, fever, sore throat, and swollen lymph glands at the side and back of the neck, and also under the arm and in the groin may appear. The firm, tender glands vary from bean to egg size for several days to a few weeks. A fever for about five days is usual, and may continue intermittently for one to three weeks. Tonsillitis, trouble swallowing and bleeding gums may be present. Some people may develop a rash.
[Mono in children and some adults is often unrecognized due to the mild nature of the symptoms.]
In half of all cases, the spleen, an organ under the left rib cage, will be enlarged. Liver enlargement, under the right rib, occurs about 20 percent of the time. Rarely, yellowing of the skin (jaundice) is seen. In most people, infection with EBV confers life long immunity.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Yes, it is "natural". A little on the wierd side, but yes, perfectly normal. I understand you think you're gonna go to hell for lying to God, but he'll forgive you. But you have to stop. You seem like...obsessed? Hmm, focus on something else. Not masturbating.

Remember the first rule of having a teen party; The teenager knows what they want better than you do. Every teenager is different, they have their own ideas and wants. Listen to them when they tell you. The happier they are, the better the party will go!
When planning the party, give a set time to arrive, but don't set a "party-over" time. Now, if you're not too keen on this idea because you don't like the idea of the party going on too late, just set a time that the kids have to be out of the house. The more flexible the party, the better.
Enlist help! Have every kid bring a bottle of pop or two, or have guys bring pop and girls bring chips (guys usually tend to forget, though: be forewarned). I know my mother would get a little mad about how much these parties would cost, so it really helps out to have kids bring stuff. Also, have your teen invite some of their close friends over early to help set up. Chances are, their friends are more than willing.
Finger food is the best to have at the party. If you order sheet pizza, cut the pieces a bit smaller. Put out TONS of candy - teens love grazing. Chips and candy go the fastest, and pizza always does well. Keep the food simple, and make sure to have lots of drinks. Just remember to keep the portions small - no one wants to be walking around with a plate of food!
Have people bring CD's! At the parties I've had, the stereo is just overflowing with CDs. We love music, especially our own. Just have the stereo be easily accessable so that the CDs can be replaced easily. And let them turn it up! Don't be afraid of volume! Obviously, you can have some sort of limit there, but be flexible.
Party games aren't necessary. People just mingle! At first, everyone is a little nervous, and just sits around. But give them time. It's actually harder to try and get everyone organized to play a party game.
Put out plenty of chairs and stuff to sit on.
Don't hang out with the kids! Check in every so often, but don't linger and watch everyone.
Have a few people sleep over if you'd like help cleaning up the next morning. There will be a mess!
If you live close to other houses, you won't be able to put the volume up!..The neighbors will complain and the party will be ruined.
If everyone picked up after themselves, the clean up after the party would be minimal.
Have large plastic bags available near the tables, so that it will be easy to put empty bottles right into the garbage, as well as empty paper plates and napkins.
A fun activity that you and friends can do, is go on a Polaroid scavenger hunt. It's just like a regular scavenger hunt except each group gets a Polaroid camera and film. Then you take pictures of things like how many people you can fit in a phone booth.
-Don't stress!
As for decorations...
Whether you're a child, or an adult, every party needs a theme. You can go with a Hawaiin theme, or chinese theme, or an adult tea party fo women only. For kids, there are so many ideas out there, from Sponge Bob and Jimmy Neutron, to princesses and pirates. Go to your local party store for ideas. Then find invitations to go with your theme.
Decorations: streamers, balloons, candles, even glass beads and sand for a pool or beach party. Just think of your theme, glass beads are sea bubbles, small pebbles spray painted gold is the treasure for a pirate party, nuts and bolts in a vase with a candle holder or a bowl of toy cars on top of it makes for a racing party any little boy, or girl will love.
You can serve food to your theme, (Chinese party and chinese food) or you can serve a little of "everything", to please everyone.
Games always seem to be the hit of the party, many party stores have tons of party games on their shelves. Find one or a few, that you could picture the guests playing.
Goody bags or partying gifts for kids, you can give them stickers, crayons, bubbles, toy cars, plastic tiaras, yo-yo's, etc. For adults, you can give journals, small baskets of mixed gifts, picture frames, or whatever you think your guests will like.
Place settings- place cards are easy to make. Use a seashell with each guests name painted on them, use walnuts(with the card sticking out of it) small terra cotta pots, or a small handful of sand that holds a place card. Think about your party, and the ideas that you can come up with.
Tips
You can look in books at the library or book store, or surf the internet for more ideas.

Q: i've been really stressed lately and i finally cracked. yesterday night i was working on homework late at night and i just started crying. over all the things that are wrong in my life and it seems like theres nothing left to be happy about and im just not happy with my life right now. i dont know what to do.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Stressing can cause depression.
Talk to someone close to you.
Go out and enjoy the things around you.
Eat a well balanced diet.
Get a good night's sleep.
Ask someone to make a list of your best qualities.
Read a book you enjoy.
Read a book to children.
Write poems.
Do origami.
Play an instument, get those feelings out!
Play a sport you enjoy.
Listen to well-meant advice.
Fly a kite.
Do voluntary work. It is great to know you are doing something to help others.
Seek medical advice if you have persistent depression. A doctor may prescribe an anti-depressant if appropriate.
Try and understand why you are feeling depressed.
Talking it through with someone can help to put it into perspective and help you to see a way through.
Take a walk in the park or do something else you enjoy.
Go to a friend's place and hang out; they will help you because you're a friend, an important person.
Listen to your favorite music.
Enjoy the sunshine. (Use sunblock!)
Tips
Don't be afraid to get better.
Don't be too hasty - everyone has good and bad days.
Remember there are many other people suffering from depression.
Share your troubles with someone, it will help to reduce the burden.
Tell your friends, significant other, family member, teacher, classmate, co-worker or a good neighbour.
Let other people help you.
Don't take too long to get professional help if you think you need it. If not for you, do it for your loved ones who are probably also suffering seeing you this unhappy.
Keep a warm surounding such as a well lighted room or open window curtains/blinds during the day.
Warnings
If you suffer from clinical depression you should seek help.
Don't do anything foolish or illegal.
Don't shut people out - they want to help you.
Try and remember how many wonderful things there are to be happy about in life. Never forget your happiest moments and how they made you feel.
We all have these moments. Good luck.

You're simply obsessed. Get over the guy. He'll just make matters worse. Why you're depressed? You can't have him. Plain and clear.

Q: ok! so i was goingout with this guy that i like LOVED and then he cheated on me and we broke up. He begged me to go back out with him and i said yes, i love him so much and he was being really sweet and stuff. its long distance and i love him but i want to get with other guys... what do i do?!
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Well, if he cheated on you, it's hard to take him back. But apparently you did. So, I would casually mention that maybe you should start seeing other people. If he doesn't agree, well, he can't force you to stay with him.
- Find comfort in your mother. Chances are she knows just what to do to make things better.
-If you are going to break up with someone and you know the other person does not want to break up, make a clean getaway - get straight to the point. The longer you talk, the harder it will be.
-Get out and do more fun things. Meet new people, get to know acquaintances better. It'll help build up your self-confidence, which is what you may need.
-What better thing to do than realize how many new options you just opened yourself to? Take advantage.
-Let him know how you feel. If there are some things that you want him to know, spill. Keeping it inside only makes matters worse. The biggest pain there is is the one inside.

Q: Well I randomly heard of a party that is going to go on saturday from my friends. The person having the party is my friend [ or so i thought ]. I just met him this year but hes my friends girlfriend. He told all the other people I hang around with except me. I am wondering if he doesnt want me to go. I asked him if he is having a party for his birthday and he said yes. I said when and where. He replied saturday at my house. But he didnt mention anything like are you going to go or whatever. What should i do?

I would directly ask him if you're invited. If you aren't, shake it off. It's no big deal. He wasn't worth your time anyway.

Q: alright heres the deal.. i like my best friend.. and he still likes me even though he has a girlfriend.. he cheated on her 3 time and he always says "i love you and if we were going out i woudln't cheat on you" and stuff and i don't know if i shoudl still like him or if i shoudl move on.. he's also always rubbing it in that he's going out with this chick to make me jealous.. and i don't get jealous..
additionally, when i like someone other than him.. he gets completly jealous and starts flipping on me and telling me that i'm an idiot because the guy is gay.. when first off he doesn't even know him.. i told him plently of times that if he woudln't be with his girlfriend i woudl be with him.. but he continues to go out with her.. and i feel really bad
should i get over him or whatnot? i will rate a 5 for any thought

Well, this is tough. Anyways, it isn't fair what he is doing. Sure, you can still be friends, but I would leave him alone when it comes to being more than friends. Although you like him, from the way you describe him, he doesn't seem like the type to be totally faithful.

Q: How long does it take strep throat to cure?
|
|

The longest it would be is a week. It could get serious if you don't seek medical help as soon as possible. Strep Throat won't go away until you get an antibiotic.

You could google it, or again googling Literature websites. I know you tried Sparknotes, but try looking again. You may actually find something.

Everybody is different, and you don't* neccessarily have to be as big as your mom. Until you are about 18 years of age, you'll grow.

I don't have anything* to draw. I hate when people use double negatives.
Still life :)
I love drawing that.
Random places, buildings, etc.

Wait till your married. Then you'll be sure you're not being pressured or anything. Good luck deciding♥ ...unless you were just wondering :)

Heyyyy, I'm jess. I love to help other people, no matter what. I've been through enough bs to know when to just stop and walk away. I don't judge; feel free to ask me anything. I have quite the temper. But, what makes me a good advice-giver is that for the most part, I'm genuinely empathetic and willing to help.
(:
I've had a lot of experiences with piercings, bullying, family problems, and even sexual issues (no std's)- but with the emotional part of it. I love music, so I give good, basic advice about that, too. Also, I deal with severe anxiety and depression, and have been in treatment numerous times. On top of that, I have OCD (Obsessive Complulsive Disorder), and because I've been around people addicted to drugs, or cutting, I can help! Just give me the chance.
