Hello! I am studying esthetics at an Aveda Institute after spending years in retail. I am proof that nothing turns out how you think it will, and that's a good thing. When you think you've got it figured out, you don't. Life would be boring otherwise, right?

im a senior in highschool. in one of my classes we get half the class to read a book of our choice, and any words we dont know, we write down on notecards as vocab. we have to get 20 a week. i've been reading the perks of being a wallflower, because i heard it was really good, but theres been like 5 words i dont know and im on page 100. its soo easy. does anyone have suggestions for a good book? it doenst necessarily have to be difficult or on a 12th grade reading level, but i just need to be able to find words every so often.

i love books that deal with teenage life. all the drama with school, boys, friends, sex, partying, you know. like the movie thirteen.. if that were a book, i would love it.

any suggestions? something you've PERSONALLY read and loved. preferably not one thats HUGE either.

You'd probably really like White Oleander by Janet Fitch. It's really hard to describe (and sounds lame when you read the summary) but it's definitely got all that.

Use a root touch-up product, like Nice and Easy or Marc Anthony. Drugstores and Walmart have them.

Maybelline Mineral Power powder foundation is really amazing. I really kind of doubted mineral makeup, but it makes my skin look amazing and stays on forever (i have oily skin). Set with a translucent powder, they make one also.

Today was my first day of high school as a freshman. And almost anything that could go wrong did.

My locker wouldn't open and there was no one in the office so I could get it fixed. I got lost at least 4 times. And I only sat with one friend [[the whole table was empty except us two]] at lunch cuz my 'bff' said I couldn't sit with her cuz her table was full.

Is there anything I can do to make my second day and the dayss to come any better?

Aw, that sucks. Freshman year is never easy. I remember wanting to cry during my first week. The bad news is that the first week is always hard. You don't know where you're going, you can't find your friends...but it gets so much better. By the second week you'll know what you're doing and be a lot more comfortable, I promise.

Don't worry too much about your friends. Use freshman year as your opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. The good thing is that everyone else is new and looking to meet people, too. Do as many activities as you can, and just talk to people. If there's a group activity in class, ask someone you've never talked to if you can be in their group. Obviously still talk to your other friends, but take full advantage of being at a new school.

As for the locker...try going in the morning before school, at lunch, whatever, someone will be there eventually.

I promise things will get better, you just have to wait it out :)

i am 18/f. right now i am working a part time job for a makeup company about 3 days a week. the days i have off, i have nothing to do! i live at home with my mom, and i am not going to school right now. all my freinds go to school during the day, and i am starting to get bored! what are some things i can do during my free time on the days i dont work?

Things to do:
- Paint your nails.
- Catch up on tv/movies/reading/
- Work out.
- Go to the library.
- Go shopping.
- Go to the movies. Soooo nice and quiet during the day.

I have a list of things I need to get done (scrapbook, read, etc) for times like that.

im a senior and im married to a beautiful girl who i love so much!!shes 16.
anyways i have a problem...i broke up with my ex a year n a half ago and she wont quit buggin me! Shes only a freshman and shes getting on my nerves. I love my wife and our son and i hate that b**ch for trying to ruin things for me and my family. Today at school she wrtote me a note and i ripped it up in front of her and told her to leave me alone!! but she still doesnt get it!!!when will she get the hint? i dont want my lady to think im talking to her cuz im 100% faithful!!

The first thing to do is discuss it with your wife. Let her know that your ex is bothering you, you're not at all interested, just wanted her to know. Maybe you can come up with a solution together.

Your ex really wants attention, so don't give it to her. The best thing to do is just plain ignore her. When she talks, act like you're deaf. Don't acknowledge her, don't say hi, don't even look at her when you walk by. Eventually she will get it.
Depending on how she is, you may want to first tell her flat-out: "I'm not interested in you at all and I want you to leave me alone"

You know those rubber bands that some people have to wear on their braces? Well, I have been ordered to wear them to correct my overbite. The thing is, I was given the instructions to start wearing them like 2 weeks ago, but I have forgotten to do so, since I went on vacation the first week and then I just forgot about it. Now I am wondering if there is any way I can make up for this lost time, because I dont want to have my braces on any longer than I need to. I heard that you can wear two rubberbands at a time, does this work? Has anyone done this? I have started wearing them now, but can I make up for the time I forgot? 16/f by the way.

I had braces for about 8 years. You can't "make up" for the time, you'll just have to probably wear the rubber bands for an extra two weeks or so. Wear them exactly as the orthodontist told you to, otherwise you could end up overcorrecting them and staying in braces longer (plus, two rubber bands HURTS!).
Really, wear them as much as you can. Otherwise, you'll either have to get springs (which are horrible) or wear your braces longer.

Mederma works well, it's a little pricey but if you apply it regularly you'll see a big improvement.

I like the sweaters from american eagle and pacsun. They're not form fitting and when my little sister saw I was wearing one she basically told me I looked like a grandma or an old lady or something to that effect.
