The children of Israel wandered the desert for 40 years - Even in biblical times men wouldn't ask for directions!
Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. whatever we do to the thread, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect. - Chief Seattle.
We spend the first 12 months of a child's life teaching them to walk and talk. We spend the next 12 years telling them to sit down and shut up!
As you slide down the bannisters of life, may the splinters never be pointing the wrong way.
May you be in Heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.
I've been very happily married since August 1980 to a wonderful man and have beautiful twin girls, now aged 31. Both are married to wonderful young men and one of our girls has recently made us grandparents to a beautiful, smart and feisty granddaughter. I studied geology with the Open University. I am retired from being a manager in a large UK based insurance company which I actually quite enjoyed. (How sad is that?). I love anything to do with the environment and wildlife and try to do my bit for preservation and conservation. I would like there to be a decent world for our grandchildren to inherit. I also have CFS so find life a bit of a challenge at times but always hope for better health in the future.
I have a deep interest in the spiritual and the paranormal worlds, having experienced several incidents myself, and have been involved in meditation groups and groups that (safely) explore the paranormal. There is more to this life than we would normally credit, so an open mind is always the best option. You're not so likely to get caught by surprise!
I have a deep fascination for anything to do with Ancient Egypt, as you can probably tell by my name. I have statues and paintings all around the house. As my hubby has a similar interest in Native Americans, we tend to have a lot of unusual wall decorations, like a tomahawk.
I love cars, especially vintage ones, but my all time favourite has to be the Bugatti Chiron, what a car!
I have had a lot to do with animals over the years. I have fostered many, helped to set up a wildlife charitable hospital and raised a diverse range of young animals from bats to fox cubs and different species of birds, even a baby deer! I have had great pleasure in sharing my life and home with a number of animals over the years, most of them rescues. I am currently sponsoring an Amur Tiger, they are such beautiful cats and desperately need help, there are so few of them left. I was lucky enough a couple of years ago to meet some Aye-Aye's and Livingstone's Bats, a truly wonderful experience. We now have three cats, Oliver and Mollie, a brother and sister, he's a ginger and she's a tortoiseshell and a black and white called Daisy. She arrived in a taxi and was left on our doorstep in a cat carrier with the message that 'they knew we loved cats and would be good to her'. She has settled down well and gets on wonderfully with the other two.
If you have a pet that is showing ANY signs of illness or distress, please, please, please take it to a vet! Even if finance is an issue, work that out later. It is cruel to leave an animal suffering for any reason. Most animals do not show signs of illness until they have been ill for some time, basic instinct tells them it is a display of vulnerability, and certain death in the wild. Their instincts have not caught up with domesticity.
I do feel that we should all treat others as we would wish to be treated. Bad karma comes back to haunt us.

ok this is kind of nasty i know, but i really need help. it burns when i urinate, and i went to the bathroom and it started bleeding and its not the time i usually have my period but i've only had it a few times so its kind of irregular. so i put a tampon in and this watery fluid with little whitish chunks or something came out and it was disgusting. i don't know what is wrong with me and i really dont want to talk to my mom or anyone about it. PLEASE HELP ME
f/14
It sounds as though you may have something called cystitis or bladder infection. Occasionally it can be bad enough to bleed and cause the lining of the bladder to peel away. It's easily cleared up with antibiotics but in the meantime drink lots of water, and if you can, some cranberry juice. If it is cystitis, you will need to take the medication or you run the risk of it travelling up to your kidneys, and that will make you feel quite ill. The bacteria doubles every 15 minutes so you need to drink lots of fluids to keep washing out your bladder and keep the bacteria numbers down.
To avoid getting it again, always ensure you wipe front to back, wear cotton undies and drink lots of water. Bubble bath is a known cause if you're susceptible to this and if you are sexually active, always wash afterwards.
Hope that helps and good luck.
I've noticed in this past month or so that I get dizzy frequently for no reason. I usually take Tylenol to help, but it doesn't necessarily feel like a headache. I am on Accutane and have been since July; however, my doctor just put me on 40mg a day about a month ago (I had been on 20 mg a day from July-October). Could this be what is making me dizzy?
Thank you=)
Accutane appears to have many side affects, most of them quite serious. I have included a couple of websites for you to check these. However, dizziness is not listed as one of them.
My advice would be to go back to your doctor and get yourself checked out. I take it the doctor knows you are using both medications? It could be something like anaenmia, vertigo etc. Only a doctor will be able to correctly diagnose you and give you the appropriate treatment.

at my school we were debating about the immigration problem, i dont belive building a wall is a good idea nd i defended my opinion nd i think i offended people im confused if i should feel bad because i just said what i thought nd if thats the case why do i feel bad?
14/f
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, regardless of what others think. It was a debate, so opposing views are going to be expressed. In circumstances like this you should not feel bad about voicing your opinions, as it takes place in an open forum.
If you are sensitive to the opinions of others, particularly your peers, and if they do not agree with you, it is quite possible for you feel bad about stating your case and maybe offending them. We all like to feel that we belong, and if our behaviours, habits or thoughts are different from the crowd, it takes confidence to uphold them.
Be proud that you could do this and back up your opinion, it takes a strong character to do this.
Hope that helps and good luck.
Okay.
So, I've realized I have a fishy smell "down there"
What caused it?
How can I get rid of it?
Um...like you can get rid of it right? Its not gonna smell like this forever??
PLEASE HELP! I'm worried.
If it's a really bad fishy smell, it could be bacterial vaginosis, this is caused by an inbalance of bacteria in the area. I have included a website for you to look at. If you think the symptoms sound familiar, you need to see a doctor, a course of antibiotics can put this right, but it will need treatment. It is not a sexually transmitted problem.

Hope that helps and good luck.
long story short, sex, condom split, could be pregnant, no chance of getting emergancy cont as i'm staying at families. How long should I wait before i do a pregnancy test? thankyou.
Most home pregnancy tests can be carried out from the day your period is due. Count the number of days from the first day of your last period to the day before your next period is due to start, this will give you your usual cycle length. Allow for your longest recent cycle length before doing the testing if you have irregular cycles. If you're not sure when your next period is due, wait for at least 19 days after the condom broke before trying the test.
If you get a negative result from the test, but you still think you may be pregnant, wait for another 3 days before trying the test again. A negative can be a false negative, there may just not have been enough of the pregnancy hormone in your system to register the first time. If you still get a negative and your period does not arrive, you will need to see your doctor.
Hope that helps and the result is the one you want it to be.
I’m 14, and I’ve been having some serious issues lately.
First of all, ever since the beginning of September, I’ve been feeling drained and empty, and all of my energy has disappeared. The only way I can move is to force myself to move; my limbs feel numb, like they’re just filled with water. My period hasn’t come for 2 months. All of my emotions are gone. I never feel happy, I only feel relieved. I don’t feel any other emotion except for sadness and extreme loneliness. Whatmore, my sense of compassion is gone, and I can’t seem to know the difference between right and wrong. I hear about brutal murders, and I don’t feel that they are bad. I remember when I was taught the importance of being a good person, but I don’t see why I should anymore.
I can feel the evil taking over me, and there’s still a little bit left in me to fight against it. My mind is engaged in fighting the evil 24/7, and because of it, I can’t eat, sleep, or do work. If I relax, I know that the evil will completely take over my mind, and I will become a criminal/human monster. Whenever I hear of a murder, I picture myself as the murderer, but the good side of me fights the evil.
Sometimes, I have an urge to do very evil things. But that little bit of sanity holds me back. I have never done anything remotely evil, though.
I know that if I let the evil consume me completely, then my life will be ruined. I will turn into a criminal or something equal to that, and everything that I’ve worked for for the first 14 years of my life will be gone.
I am not a Christian, but I believe in evil. The only thing I want right now is to know the importance of being a good person…….I don’t see why I should be a moral person right now, but I know that if I become a good person like I was before, I will definitely live a better life and be a happier person.
Seriously, I’m not an emo or anything. But how can I protect myself from the evil and become a good person again? I don’t mean by doing good things….I already do good things for people to mask my evil, but I still have evil in my brain. How can I get rid of the evil and become a genuinely good, compassionate person again? How can I re-learn compassion? I will do anything to get back to the way I was before.
You don't need to be a Christian to believe in good and evil, everyone has the capacity for both. Good and evil is everywhere, influences and circumstances can push a person one way or the other, or to stay in the middle of them. I would say that most of us at some times in our lives have 'evil' thoughts, it's human nature, we're not perfect. It's what we don't do about them that is important. If we all acted on these thoughts, the world would be in more chaos than it is now.
You may have something like a chemical or hormonal inbalance, depression etc. Did something happen just before you started feeling this way that could have brought these feelings out?
I would suggest you see a doctor and explain all this to them. They are the ones who are qualified to make this judgement.
Hope that helps and that you are feeling your old self again soon.
hey,
this might sound like a weird question but can someone tell me what an SUV (car) is?
Thanx
I've attached some pictures of SUV's for you to see what they look like. The answer below is right, they are gas guzzlers.

What does Green Tea do for a girls body?...
I've included some sites that give a lot of information about green tea. It's best drunk without sugar, and quite a pleasant taste.

Gahh....well my cat had kittens, then had kittens with her son(we are pretty sure). Bad, I know. We intended on getting the cat fixed right after we got her but alot of things came up and we coulnt afford it, then we hitt a rough patch money wise and still havent gotten her fixed....-sigh-
Well anyway, her kittens look okay.....except as of yesterday 2 of them died, one we dont know why and the other was just skin an bones....it was horrible. The remaining 3 are fine, except a little bit...I dont know 'cockeyed' and not completely straight eyed if that makes sense. They seem intelligent enough...they are also a bit small and I'm worried about them. They are around 5 weeks old. Other than the eyes they APPEAR normal.
Also the mother cat got an infection and couldnt feed her kittens(we didnt even know she HAD the kittens) we found the kittens in our basement a week ago crying because they were hungry(they had been fed before obviously, they seemed recently unfed)...like I said they are a little thin but seem okay...Im just worried about them. What are the risks of them not being okay because of their inbreeding and possibly early malnutrition? I'm really scared for them in light of the past deaths...=[
(please dont just tell me to get my cat fixed, trust me I know)
A small genepool is at risk from many problems.
It can limit the kittens abilities to produce some types of antibodies, making them more susceptible to some illnesses. When they are closely related, any genetic problems are more likey to show.
Some of them have lower birth weights and/or kittens with less energy, slower or stunted growth, more still births and abnormal kittens, higher losses due to illness and birth defects, asymmetry problems like crooked jaws, uneven eye size etc. Not all of them may occur but any one of them is an indication of what is known as 'inbreeding depression'.
Having said that, a great many breeders, in an attempt to 'improve' a breed will use inbreeding to some extent, but they generally ensure that the cats involved are free from any hereditary problems and don't go beyond one or two generations.
Other possible reasons for your kittens sicknesses and death could be picking up the infection of the mother through her milk or contact, you didn't say what the infection was or how it was treated. If it was not treated by the vet, there is always a chance that any medication given was not suitable for a nursing mother which can affect the kittens.
Malnutrition can cause death quite quickly in small kittens as they need to be fed regularly. If they went without food for a while but now are being fed, they could have been deprived long enough to cause a 'blip' in their development.
It really does sound as though they need to see a vet, if money is still tight, perhaps you could work out a payment plan with the vet?
As to the mother cat not getting pregnant again, until you can afford the operation, can you keep her separate from all other un neutered toms? Or just keep her in when she is in season, (she can go into season right not long after having kittens).
Hope that helps and the best of luck.

i didn't know which catagory this would fit in.. but i have this major problem about worrying about my cat. here is the story:
i had another cat some years back and she was injured by a speeding car one night while i was out. She was turned in the emergency room in critical condition with life-threatening conditions such as blindness, and jaw deformation.
my family and i decided to put her to sleep, and later on (two years later) i got a new cat. i made her an indoor cat so nothing would really happen to her. however, i always get bad visions of my cat dying in her sleep, like Sudden kitten death syndrome (Like SIDS) and there have been times I woke up seeing my cat not move at all, and I got terrified, and tried waking her up and she did. I always freak out when she is laying next to me or somewhere else. I always get worried she'll die and I get so scared so much that I feel like it's sending me into major paranoia.
I love my cat so much and it would break my heart if something ever happened to her, which is probably why I get like that. But I am still a little confused why I keep feeling that way, and I would like to know. I would also like advice on how to treat this problem so I would feel a bit more ease.
thanks in advance
You probably have some misplaced guilt issues over the fact that you were out at the time of the accident. We all feel that there could have been something we could/should have done in times of tragedy, but most of the time it just isn't possible.
It's understandable in the circumstances that you feel the need to check she is ok. A few years ago, one of our cats had an embolism right in front of me and died within a minute. I still feel guilty that perhaps I could have done something, ( I know I couldn't have though). Even now, I sometimes find myself checking the other animals are still breathing if they are in a deep sleep. They can't tell you how they feel so you have to guess.
Why don't you take her to a vet and get her thoroughly checked over? That way, you can reassure yourself that she is fine and it may help you to relax a little. Talking to the vet about your concerns may also help. They may be able to give you some pointers on what ill health signs to look for in her.
Just try to stay calm about her. Being an indoor cat greatly reduces her chances of picking up any of the diseases and avoiding the accidents that normally affect cats.
It sounds as though you are quite sensitive, and loving your cat as you do makes thoughts of losing her all the harder to bear. However, consider this, when she has finally gone, (hopefully not for many years), do you want to look back at your life together with joy and happiness at a shared love and knowing that you have done everything you can to make her happy, or in worry and guilt that your feelings got in the way of making and keeping those memories? It's really hard to change your mind set but if you can, you will feel a lot better and your cat will benefit as well.
Hope that helps and good luck.
I have 2 guinea pigs and i changed their bedding about once a week. I put baking soda or whatever that stuff is called at the bottom of the bed so it wont smell AS bad but does anybody have any remedies that can help me out so the room doesnt smell so bad?
Guinea pig urine can be quite smelly but if you change their bedding at least twice a week and use a guinea pig friendly antibacterial spray on the hutch after cleaning it, this should help to reduce the smell. Be careful what you do use as not everything will be suitable.
Make sure that the hutch is dry before you put the bedding and the animals back in.
Hope that helps and good luck.
ok so i know this is probably a weird question but i was just wondering this.
Does a woman's breasts only contain milk when she is pregnant or after she has a baby or do they always contain milk even before all of that stuff.
For example...if my boyfriend was sucking my breasts would milk come out like it would for a baby?
I was just wondering--just looking for some answers.Thanks.
Higher levels of hormones that are produced when you become pregnant stimulate the parts that go on to make the milk. I have attached a website that should give you all the information you need.
http://www.babycentre.co.uk/baby/breastfeeding/makingbreastmilk/
This basically means that if you have never been pregnant - no milk.
Hope that helps.
Does anyone know what the rings around Zimbabwe's woman's necks are called, if called anything. Also, do you know why?
The neck rings are called Idzila, they were worn by married women of the Ndebele tribe as a sign of status, they would remove them if their husband died. The more rings they wore the wealthier their husbands were.
They were also known to wear isigolwani rings which are made of twisted grass and decorated with beads, mostly for ceremonial purposes. They would also wear both these types of rings around their legs and arms. The practice of wearing Idzilas is dying out and so are not worn every day now.
Hope that helps.
ok, this is very random but i was watching a movie about a murder and i was wondering, if someone is arrested under murder charges and someone bails them out, later they go to trial and are found innocent, do they get that bail money back?

i believe i have an embarrasing problem and i hesitate to even ask it's so embarrasing.
it all started in the 6th grade when i was with my best friend, and we were laughing a little and i already had to go to the bathroom, and i peed in my pants. that's been three years and it still haunts me. lately, i'm terribly paranoid of going on myself and it only seems to affect me when i'm at school or taking a long car trip. for the past week or so, i've been telling my teachers that i'm about to throw up and that i need to go to the restroom immediately, but in reality, i just need to go to the bathroom. it wouldn't be so bad if i actually had to go once i got to the bathroom, but i would barely go at all. the longest i can not go at school is an hour [one class] and in some classes it's only half an hour. what can i do?
There really is nothing to be embarrassed about, it is far more common that you would think. I would advise that you get yourself checked out by a doctor first, just to make sure there are no underlying health issues. If that's all clear and you don't want to use various over the counter medications, you could try something called pelvic floor exercises.
When you have to pee normally, try to stop half way, (sounds gross I know), but the muscles you use to do this are the ones you need to exercise. You can then exercise these muscles anywhere as no one will see what you are doing. Try to do this several times a day for the rest of your life and you should be able to build them up so that this does not happen again. Also, if they are strong and at some point in the future you want children, it will make it easier to recover strength in that area, as it is usually affected by pregnancy and labour. It also means you should avoid old age incontinence.
It is hard to do this and to have the discipline to continue but it is worth it and you should see the results of it in a month or two. In the meantime you could wear pads to absorb any leakage, not ideal, but better than nothing.
Hope that helps and good luck.
First off, I'm very sick. I've had stomach problems for 7 months. Today, I almost passed out many times. I went to the doctor and it turns out that my hemoglobin levels are down from 14 to 12.3. But my question.. When I got my finger pricked at the doctor, I bled everywhere and it was hard to stop it. Now, my finger is black where it was pricked and it hurts really bad. It's weird. Could it have something to do with my hemoglobin level being down, or should I be worried about that too?
I'm really sorry to hear that you are ill. I have no diagnosis for you, but if you try to stay calm, get plenty of rest, eat sensibly, no fizzies or burgers etc, that may help you feel a little better whilst you are waiting for the results to come back. Put an ice pack on your finger, that may help to ease the pain, it quite possibly is all tied in with the haemagloblin levels. I expect the doctor will get back to as quickly as he can and start treating you.
Hope that helps and feel better soon.
ok this is very embarrassing but my class has just is starting another health unit. Last we we learned the same thing and had a test and I, of course, failed miserabaly and STILL do not know where the vagina is! I was going to ask the teacher but I felt embarrased. There could be any holes! Is it the hole where pee comes out? Is it where they take a S***? or is there a third hole? =S Please answer if you're a girl since I want to know from a person that actually knows since girls have it and not boys.
Take a look at this diagram it should give you all the information you need. :)

i have terrible breath and brushing doesnt seem to get it to go away. what can i do to get rid of it?
You need to be careful not to over brush your teeth as you can cause gum recession if you're too vigorous. If none of the suggestions below work, try looking at your diet. Some foods can cause breath problems. Another reason can be poor digestion.
If you are having digestive problems, speak to a pharmacist or your doctor, there could be a simple remedy.
Hope that helps and good luck.
This week is school spirt week at my school. One day is decade day and my class has the 70's. What are some things i can wear?
Hippies were more the late 1960's to very early 1970's. The early to middle 70's were all about seriously big flares, platform shoes, (the higher the better), Kaftans, lots of glitter, bright blues and greens on the eyes, mostly long hair, mini's, midi's and maxi skirts, (short, knee length and long), Loud patterns and cheesecloth.
The middle to the late 1970's we went punk, safety pins through various parts of the body, mohican haircuts, black lipstick, plastic bin liners made into clothes and zips everywhere.
I was there, it was great.
Hope that helps and have fun.
