personally i like SUV's the older ones. i would like to own an international scout II from the mid 70's someday it's the best SUV made in my opinion went out of production in the 1980's long before the SUV craze which honestly could have saved their company.
SUV's come in all shapes and sizes and have been made since the 40's. and before that all we had were jeeps. they were originally designed for off roading purposes and made to cut through the woods and backroads of the country. 4 wheel drive is the basis of most SUV's as well as a stiff chassis. a lot of newer SUV's don't have 4wheel drive or are built on a car chassis which makes for a weakened, watered down, SUV. jeep still sticks to the traditional design with the cherokee, and ford still holds true with the explorer (though it can be bought without 4 wheel drive, the true 4x4 edition is an SUV in line with history.

Alot of people tend to get them because they can be very roomy ( especially if you're a mother with kids and everything ) and they're good for storing shopping bags, luggage, etc.

(such as a Ford Expedition)
They are a waste of gas and space on the road (in my opinion) [ NinaB's advice column | Ask NinaB A Question ]
