The early to middle 70's were all about seriously big flares, platform shoes, (the higher the better), Kaftans, lots of glitter, bright blues and greens on the eyes, mostly long hair, mini's, midi's and maxi skirts, (short, knee length and long), Loud patterns and cheesecloth.
The middle to the late 1970's we went punk, safety pins through various parts of the body, mohican haircuts, black lipstick, plastic bin liners made into clothes and zips everywhere.
I was there, it was great.
Hope that helps and have fun. [ isis's advice column | Ask isis A Question ]

And maybe even go to a few stores and go looking for a few necklaces that have a peace symbol on it or a smiley face on it.
I had a 70s day and that's what I did, and I also took eyeliner or marker or something and I drew a peace symbol on my cheek.
Also since it's Halloween coming up soon, I'm sure since people love being hippies, you can find a vest with things dangling from it and patches on it or those pair of rounded glasses and such, so maybe even go around to a halloween store and check some stuff out.
