I have 2 guinea pigs and i changed their bedding about once a week. I put baking soda or whatever that stuff is called at the bottom of the bed so it wont smell AS bad but does anybody have any remedies that can help me out so the room doesnt smell so bad?
i had ONE guinea pig and i changed his bedding everyday. but you have two, which means twice as much feces. try cleaning out the bedding everyday. if you dont have time than clean it out once every two days.
remember since the whole room smells bad, imagine how inside the cage smells!! and thats like a bacteria factory right there. so please clean out your cage more often. it will help with both the smell and will help eliminate any health problems in the future. Be careful what you do use as not everything will be suitable.
Make sure that the hutch is dry before you put the bedding and the animals back in.
Hope that helps and good luck. [ isis's advice column | Ask isis A Question ]

1) Clear a stinky pee patch when you see one and replace with fresh shavings.
2) Stir the shavings daily
3) Continue to change their bedding once a week
And you're all done! Really. Just clear their pee patch daily. OK maybe if you're a little lazy, which I am sometimes, clear a pee area when it starts to smell. Then you can rest for a few days.

XkittyOkatX answered Friday October 13 2006, 10:12 pm: Aw, I had this problem, too. I'd try getting an air freshener or something to put next to the cage. Don't do anything like spraying perfume, or putting body powder in the cage. I'd reccomend spraying something that would kill bacteria like febreeze. Try spraying that a few times a day for a few weeks and see how that works up. Also, make sure you CLEAN the cage with soap and water, instead of just changing the bedding.
They're most likely smelling badly because I'm pretty sure rodents have 'cycles' with discharge, too, each month. I know my hamster did, so if you've got females, this may be a reason, too. [ XkittyOkatX's advice column | Ask XkittyOkatX A Question ]
