Well, I've always been shopping at American Eagle and Abercrombie and those kind of places, and I HATE IT!!! I hate them all. I don't want to be a prep. I want to shop at Hot Topic, I am so anti-prep it's not even funny. And all these years my parents have made me shop there. Seriously, they will not let me shop at Hot Topic or anything place they consider "goth". I guess you could call us rich, and so I totally hate it. I just want to be what I want to be, which is pretty much "punk" since I'm really into that kind of music and I love black. I've been so pissed about it, but, if I do convince my parents to let me start wearing stuff from Hot Topic, will people call me a Poser because all the sudden I go from Preppy Clothes to Punk?

Please help!

Just so you all know: I HATE preppy clothes. They suck. I think about being home schooled and running away and buying Hot Topic stuff and just sneaking it to school because I hate my clothes so much. So don't think this is just a stupid joke. Thanks.

You won't be considered a poser. People change and since you never liked preppy clothes to begin with, you will be fine. I love Hot Topic, its one of my favorite stores. I also love AE and PacSun. I'm not considered a poser even though I love both. Be honest with your parents... tell them that's not who you are and you want to be an individual. They'll understand if you make the right approach.

I think your friend was wrong to be so bossy to you and should take all this on her own. She doesn't own you and she shouldn't act like it. Tell her you think she's a great friend but if she wants to still be your friend then she should learn to give you equal authority. Tell her if there is something about you that she doesn't like then you can try to change it. Good luck, hun!

I like this guy Max and i think its weird that I have never met him, but I catch him looking at me. I try to not believe it and think its my imagination. Like today i was working on something at school and and he was in the classroom next to mine and so as I was working I looked up and caught him looking at me and we locked eyes for a split second and then he looked down...was this my imagination? I HAVE NEVER MET THE DUDE! How can he look @ me?! I mean, i dont think i'm that attractive...HELP!

As they always say, Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder. You may not find yourself attractive (i bet you are tho lol) but maybe this boy does. This has happened to me before. Go up to him and talk to him and maybe get his screename or phone number. Once the two of you talk and get to know each other it just may be a match made in heaven!

me and my best friend have been great friends since 8th grade (were both in 12th now) so we've been friends for pretty much 5 years. i love her to death and i dont know what i would do without her. Were seriously inseperable. About a month ago she met this guy. All of a sudden its like she's dedicating her time to hang out with him EVERY day. I mean all three of us do hang out sometimes but i dont really like it bc i kinda feel like the 3rd wheel. Her ex boyfriend just told me that he likes me but i told him that i only like him as a friend. i told her that he said he liked me and all of a sudden she asumed that i liked him too and now she is mad at me. the reason they broke up was because she was lying to him and cheating on him with this guy she is with now. The guy she is with now wants to get an apartment. He said i could move in if i wanted but i dont want to because i cant afford it but i dont wanna loose my best friend to him because i lost her once before and i was miserable. Well today i left this guy a voicemail saying mean things and everything to him which i shouldnt but he is really rude to me. He calls me a slut and everything. i've told my friend this but she said well im falling in love with him and all that. I really dont wanna loose my best friend at all! i dont know wut to do and its killing me inside. I tryed to talk to her about it but she doesn't wanna listen to me at all. She told me a few weeks ago the only reason she is with this guy is because he gets her w/e she wants (he got her a diamond ring...a $500 stereo and lets her drive his new car and she doesn't have her permit or license) i dont know what to do!! someone please help!! since this is long ill rate u a 5!!! thanx!!!

For the mean time, give your friend some space. I know just how you feel because I have this one friend and I am very close with and when she dated someone I felt a little bit pushed aside. All you have to remember is that could be you, in her shoes: in love with a guy. Your friend should reconsider it because its hurting you and she should listen. But since I'm supplying you with advice I say you should leave her alone for now and pretty soon she will start missing you. Hope this helped!

Wow! I'm really lucky I found your plea for help because my dad is a proffesional hair dresser. Well, depending on what kind of hair you want to achieve is how you should do your hair.

Cute `n Laid Back:

Brush your hair so you have no part and take the hair and tie it into a messy bun on top of your head. If it helps, add some gel to keep the top straight and smooth.

Curls Curls Curls:

Just like alot of celebrities you can have luscious waves. Take some gel in your hand and apply it to your hair when its wet. Scrunch up the strands and it will dry a bit wavy.

The "Hang-Over":

Take your hair in your hand and tie it in a high pony tail. Leave some pieces down in the front and then pin them to the side with some cute clips. It's simple and great for sporty girls.

Spunky `n Sweet:

Leave your hair down except two chunks on each side of your head. Put them in high pony tails and you'll be looking cute in no time.

ok i have a few questions and i am in need of some insight... Well i like this guy and he is so flirty and we are friends and we have been for about 4 years and now we hangout alot and talk alot and we have all the same friends and what not and he knows i like him cuz he asked me in a note (we have 2 classes together and he sits next to me) and i said well you but i dont want anything to change if you dont feel the same way. ok and so after i said that he wrote we need to hangout more. and everyday almost he tells me i looke really cute and tells his friends im so hott and because they ar my friends too then tell me...we have so much fun together and i think we would make such a cute couple cuz we are both open minded people and we are into the same things... my question is what do i do? like a few of my friends are like he is shy when it comes to that so ask him out. but i am too and i could never do that. whats a girl to do???

I've liked this one guy I've known since we were 5 for about 11 months. He's only known since June, and rejected me flat out. I know that there's not chance for anything between us...but idk...I keep holding on. My friend a few days ago suggested that I might be in love with him. And I'd never given the subject a thought, but now that I am, I'm even considering it. Is it possible for me to actually be in love with this guy that is absolutely perfect for me? The way I see it, when you find that perfect someone, they will feel the same way about you that you do about them. Maybe though, this guy doesn't know you well enough. Try to just be his friend and maybe that will work. I deffinetly wouldn't jump to love. Love is a great, scary, exciting, incredible, heart-jumping-out-of-your-chest, head-over-heals feeling. You'll probobly not experience love for a long time and neither would I. But of course, its okay to crush and date. Sorry I couldn't help more!

Today I was sitting in class and I just picked up this needle thing and started running it up and down my arm. I don't know why but then I started scratching myself with it really badly so that I had marks all over my arm. After school, my boyfriend saw but he made a joke of it. I think I did it because I want attention because my parents don't really give me any. I was really upset that my boyfriend didn't care, does it show that he doesn't care about me? Everybody that saw what I had done just ignored me.

I've been in this situation before. Alot of people have. It's awkward because there is that nervous feeling inside of you: what if he doesn't like me? If you don't feel comfortable telling him all at once then don't. Maybe drop a few hints or flirt a little. You could even have one of your other friends ask him if he likes you. Be careful with that though because I know from personal experience that guys don't like it when girls bombard them with questions about them liking someone. Just be yourself and try one of the things above. Also, be aware that if he doesn't respond to you the same way you do to him, that's normal. He's a guy and they are kind of slow! lol! Good Luck!!

I'm short myself (5`1) but my friend is 5`8 and she's 12. She loves being tall and is very proud of it. She dates alot of short guys but that doesn't stop her. My friend is very confident and believes in herself. Remember that you are beautiful and smart and strong. It's not a matter of being vain and concieted. It's about feeling good about yourself and being comfortable with your insecurities.

Stores like Abercrombie and Fitch have open calls for models. Go on their website and then find the modeling link. You can submit your picture and if they like you then you can model for them. Abercrombie likes their models super skinny though. Also, The Gap sometimes has open modeling calls. And if that's not your thing, I know Hot Topic looks for models sometimes. My best friend is dating this guy that my entire group of friends can't stand. This guy has NO personality. Plus, he's mean to people. Do we say something to her or let her figure it out? (they've been dating for almost a YEAR!)

I've been in that position to and I made a mistake that almost cost me my entire friendship. While being a concerned friend is good, sometimes it can make your friend feel like you are getting into her business. Even if you know this guy is wrong for her, do not pressure her about it. Let her keep dating him unless things get very bad. Know when the time is right.

Ok, wow. My friend knows this guy at our school and she likes him a lot, but he doesn't know it (He may, but I don't know.) And he's really sweet and no one thinks he's a jerk or mean or whatever. But, then he didn't talk to her for some reason and so now she's a little bit upset. Her other friends think that she annoyed him, but she doesn't know why. She says that she may of talked to him too much, but she said she did that so he'd like her as a friend more. And so she keeps asking me for advice on what to do, but I don't have a clue, so I was asking you for help. Perhaps he is aware of her crush and is feeling a bit shy now that he knows. It can be an uncomfortable feeling knowing that someone likes you. Maybe, he likes her too and that is making him leary and nervous. Have someone who's a close friend to ask. Maybe even you...

I just moved to arizona from texas.. my best friend cried wen i left, and said that i would always be her best friend.. but its a couple of months after i moved, and she doesnt seem to pay much attention anymore.. She's not gonna know unless you tell her but of course, you are probobly worried about her feelings being hurt. I think she will understand if you tell her in a polite manner. Just explain it to her: "I feel we've been growing apart but you are like a sister to me and I would do anything for you. I just want to make sure you know that". Being open with her will make her have even MORE trust in you and a friend like that is IMPOSSIBLE to forget.
