What Happens When?
Well, I've always been shopping at American Eagle and Abercrombie and those kind of places, and I HATE IT!!! I hate them all. I don't want to be a prep. I want to shop at Hot Topic, I am so anti-prep it's not even funny. And all these years my parents have made me shop there. Seriously, they will not let me shop at Hot Topic or anything place they consider "goth". I guess you could call us rich, and so I totally hate it. I just want to be what I want to be, which is pretty much "punk" since I'm really into that kind of music and I love black. I've been so pissed about it, but, if I do convince my parents to let me start wearing stuff from Hot Topic, will people call me a Poser because all the sudden I go from Preppy Clothes to Punk?
Please help!
Just so you all know: I HATE preppy clothes. They suck. I think about being home schooled and running away and buying Hot Topic stuff and just sneaking it to school because I hate my clothes so much. So don't think this is just a stupid joke. Thanks.

Dude your such a poser. If you really didnt like "prep" clothes then you wouldnt wear them at all. And another thing, you kno nothing of punk, just because you think having a stud belt and whatnot is punk doesnt mean you kno what you are talking about. Go get a life man, your a stupid ass poser no matter if you shop at hot topic or anywhere, also being a prep isnt about how you dress. no you won't be called a poser, but people will ask you why you went from prep to punk or will call u goth or freak or weirdo. You learn to ignore it all and answer their questions as for your parents I just went out and bought. you could try hiding it but still it may not be too smart. Also make sure your friends know about this or you may end up friendless wich isn't fun either

Although I too prefer Hot Topic to AE and A&F, let me start off by saying that what you wear isn't everything...Let me also finish with this same statement: WHAT YOU WEAR ISN'T EVERYTHING.
But seriously, although it sucks not being able to dress how you want, it isn't like you're wearing rags. Although it would be a lie to say people won't judge you by how you dress, the people who's attention you really want won't. C'mon guys, big picture here. Plus, in a few years you can move out and wear whatever the hell you want.

ask your parents why gthey wont let u wear punk clothes. if its cuz they think you'll be a satian worshiper tell them not to gudge a book by its cover. then when you convince them tell ever one who called you a poser call them a prep or a prep wannabe. hoped i helped

i think you should just talk to your parents about it and tell them that you don't like the way you look in those clothes and you don't want to be a prep beleave me i just got out of going to those stores they STINK hot topic and landslide and stuff like that is the coolest

You will obviously be called a poser, but thats ok, because if you are more comfortable in those clothes it doesnt matter. But definitely do not let whatever clothes you are wearing change your personality- its ok to mix "genres" of clothing- just wear what you want!

Ur parents should let u be whatever u wanna be. And if they wont then just buy the clothes u want without telling them.. and throw away all the tags and reciepts. :-)

You won't be considered a poser. People change and since you never liked preppy clothes to begin with, you will be fine. I love Hot Topic, its one of my favorite stores. I also love AE and PacSun. I'm not considered a poser even though I love both. Be honest with your parents... tell them that's not who you are and you want to be an individual. They'll understand if you make the right approach.

the best thing you can do, is tell your parents that you appreciate their caring for getting you clothes, but you've grown up and aren't happy dressing the way THEY want you to dress. you aren't happy. tell them that you are your own person, and that they aren't allowing you to be your own person. if all else fails:
1. wait
2. get a car
3. get a job
4. get the money from your job
5. buy your own clothes

And yes, people would call you a poser. It's just because of changing so quickly. ok well all of those preppy stores doesnt mean your preppy, i wear some of that, and im no where near a prep.....i guess if you convince your parents that you should be able to wear wat u want and lik just dont shock them to lik total goth over night and you can lik combind the prep and the punk together in right ways (some clothes u can)... i totally get where ur coming from though, just tell ur parents the truth and hopefully thingd will work out! ...and hoo cares about wat other people think, thats them... your true friends will never care wat you look lik.... i really do hope u get to wear wat u want
