We're doing a lab in school next week which involves the murdering of goldfish so that we can look at its circulatory system. Who cares? It's just a goldfish, right? Wrong. Goldfish are animals too. People, like myself, have had golfish as pets. Mine lived up to be 7 years old, which is a very long time for a goldfish, but it created a bond between us. My teacher even made a joke about it, that her turtle likes this lab the best because he gets to eat all the dead goldfish. Which I guess is good in retrospect because they aren't just throwing them away once they've dug out all of their organs. It's the principle of the thing though, I know the boys in my class with be nothing but immature about this and torture the goldfish before killing them. I can't watch any kind of death, the only time I killed a fly I cried for an hour. And she has them swimming in glass bowls in our room now, so we get to watch them every day, only to murder them later on. When we did frog dissection, an alternate computer program was offered to observe their organ systems, so why are we buying so many fish each year that could have ended up as pets for other people and lived 7 years? If we killed just one fish and made a video on it,though it's still cruel to that one fish, the hundereds of fish we kill each year would be limited to one fish, once. Or even if our teacher was going for a hands-on experience, she could just kill one at the front of the class and have all of the students take a look. It's just wrong to me that we are going to be graded on the procedure of taking a beating heart and making it stop.
So, what can I do to stop this? How do I try and get my teachers and classmates to understand? Or am I overreacting? (link)

I applaude you! WAY TO GO! When we did the frog disections last year i felt the same way to. The sad part about this is there isnt alot that you yourself can do. I dont know the exact rules where you live, but here if you get a peetition going and take it to the principal you can atleast change the way your school approaches things like this. Like putting the fish somewhere as to not let the guilt come over students. i hpoe i helped!

hey im a 14 year old guy..ok theres this girl who lives in a different city who i met thru some friends who i LOVE! she is so aweosme! and she loves me too, which is great. but theres a girl at my school who really likes me and i kinda like her..and i might want to ask her out in the summer, but i wouldnt be able to flirt with the girl i love and she'd never forgive me or trust me again. but its hard cuz the long distance, even tho i visit her a few times a year. should i ask the girl at my school out or stick with the girl i love? i rate high for good advice (link)

you know you n me are not to different. Only im on the side of the girl you love. My boyfriend of 3 yrs goes to a different school and i only see him roughly 5 times a year. We work well. He knows how you feel. Its hard not to have someone to hold everyday, but you gotta do it. tell the girl you love. no one likes to be in the dark. you wont feel bad about it, in fact you might actually feel better!!! love is possibly the best thing and the worst in the world. Im not saying that you cant fall in love at 14, but you DID say, "But i was just asked out..." and eventhough you might feel really strongly for a person, it takes a long time to determine if your in love. If you really like this guy then prove every jerk out there that says your not and stay with this guy. But only if that is what you truely want

the always say you never know how much you love someone until there gone. I know how you feel only not to that extent. My condolences go out to you and the family. It will be hard at first, but you have to get back out there. NO ONE likes the feeling, but just think.... if you dont, you might turn out to be one of 3 things. 1) a pimp. 2) an old man sitting on his porch alone except for his 27 cats, or 3) a pedifile. * just trin to lighten the situation* but seriously, the best thing you can do is get out there. im 13/f and i have 2 brothers a mom a step dad a dad a step mom and a step sis. my life gets so hectic some times that i just cant stand it, my step dad yells at me for every little mistake i make, and he always thinks that someones out to get him. my mom and dad dont even talk anymore, and if they do, they wind up yelling or hanging up on each other, and my dad doesnt even care enough about her and me and my bros to help us. my bro blamed the reason that him and his girlfriend fight because of me, his girlfriend used to be 1 of my best friends. i feel like i have only one friend, all the others are just there, and they dont invite me to anything. my only true frind is moving lyk an hour away, and then i dont know who i would b able to hang around with for my highskool years. sometimes i get so upset that i constantly think about commiting suicide, or cuttig my self to get rid of the pain. i havnt cut my self yet, but every single day i get closer and closer to doing it. i need help, what should i do? well dont do anything until you talk to a proffesional. I havent been doing this long, but i know enough about how you feel. what i did was forget the negitive things and focus on the positive. there has to be something. i really admire your want for help and know how hard it was to write this. I just closed people out until my best friend told the principal who got me help. I really respect tat you want help, and am sorry fo everything wrong with your life.

im in the same boat you are. im also turnning 14, and the only difference is i know what im doing. were renting a suit at the embassy, and spending the night there. the guys are leaving!! ;) but the fun part is, we booked the same night as a wedding reception!!!! we have it all planned out. we are going to have clay maskes and be in our pjs and go down and dance with all the hot guys at the party! its gunna be fun. but if i were you, i would do that, or just do a bbq in your back yard and set up fun stuff to do like a stereo. hope i helped!

you will never forget your first love, i know i wont, and you cant really tell that a relationship might not or may get better. it might just be that you are afraid of falling for this guy. If i were you, i would not go out with someone you dont like. That only leads to more pain. hope i helped!

emo is abounch of people who think they're cool by wearing preppy clothes and eye-liner. Really, it is just "punk" with tears. Only do it if your comfortable with her and the situation. I deffinatly wouldnt advize anything happinin on the porch, but if the setting is better, just be sure your ok with everything. well, frist of all, learn punctuation. then you dont sound like your going 100 mph around your dining room table. Then, tell your "friend" that you dont appriciate what she said, and that you and the other person said that because it was a JOKE!! you didnt mean it, it just came out wrong. Flirt- adjitive; showing affection for another without telling said someone you like them. lol Good huh? =) when i flirt with guys, i do it really subtilly. i act normal when their showing some one something, i walk over behind him and put my chin on his shoulder and look at the magizine, pic, ect you get the idea.
