I am aware that this will not get an award for brevity, but humor me.
Background info: I am someone who is known to have an incredibly individual, crazy, random style. I love uniqueness, and I hate wearing things that I know what 1 million other people are wearing. This goes for anything of the sort, whether it's a studded belt or a short little Hollister skirt- BUT this question is mostly geared towards the latter (to clarify, the clothing that the so-called "pretty people" wear).
I'm really trying to comprehend how people can like clothing like what is sold at Hollister or those type of stores. I guess it's almost humorous since I know the majority of people ask the same question about my outfits a good deal of the time- what could she possibly be thinking with that outfit? But I just don't understand...and I'm honestly trying to be as accepting of others expressions as I wish they would be of my own.
What joy do you get out of wearing these mass manufactured clothes that aren't even worth taking two looks at? They are so BORING and unoriginal and so..lacking in any creativity. Not to mention, those skirts practically show butt cheeks and things I DO NOT WANT TO SEE! EW! Between the false advertising (Feefee's stupid ass coconut shack, etc.) and the atrocious amount of skin shown, I can only wonder what America's "pretty people" are thinking and if they really are so "pretty."
Can someone please help me understand?
anonymous -
I think that "pretty people" wear these specific name brand clothes soley because it is categorized as "high class".
I know it's funny, how can something so boring be considered high class? Well, the founders of the clothing line must have been pretty damn rich to begin with, and for most middle class people, they yearn to be like these rich people...which includes buying whatever they produce, including plain t-shirts that cost $60 a piece.
They like to buy these ridiculously expensive items to conform with the so called, IN crowd. And if bought, they are considered "sexy" as their advertising implies.
I hope this helps.

I've been looking for a new CHI hair straighter, but I'm having a hard time trying to find one.
I would prefer it would not be one from a "no-name" dealer, or off e-bay.
If any one knows any stores or trusted websites where I would be able to get one would you please tell me where I can find one. Also if you have one do you have any complaints about it?
anonymous -
You can get it at any Ulta store near you, or get it off of their website.
The FEW (keyword, few) complaints that I've heard thus far from reviewers is that it doesn't last as long...ie, it will break easily.

Could you date someone who had very different or totally contrary views to your own. For example, if you were a dedicated Democrat and they were a Republican, or if you were quite religious and they were an atheist. Would those sort of things be a dealbreaker for you or would you still want to see them?
Do you think relationships like that are doomed or are disagreements like that healthy?
anonymous -
I personally think disagreements like that are very beneficial...that is, if both parties were open-minded.
I say this because it is very healthy to consider another's beliefs and opinions to understand that person better. You may not agree with it, but by listening and understanding beliefs contradictory to yours, you learn a lot more about them, and most importantly, you learn a lot more about yourself...whether their views may help you to enforce yours or to consider their beliefs as well.

I was wondering about Planned Parenthood. I know that you can go there and get condoms, birth control, morning-after-pill, etc. but I had a few questions. Can you just go in there and get condoms or do you have to like sit down and talk with a few people there with them asking you questions and saying make sure you're safe and ready, etc? Also, if you go there to get birth control, do they have to give you an exam "down there" or what all do they do? Plus, they don't tell your parents about it.. do they? I heard they were completly confidental. I'm just curious!! I rate high.
anonymous -
For condoms, you just take a few out of the jar and pay for them. I think even some facilities might even have them free.
For birth control, they evaluate your menstrual cycle but I heard that it is recommended to go to a gyno just to make sure everything is healthy prior to the appointment at Planned Parenthood.
And yes, everything is confidential.

My boyfriend & I were trying to figure out how we can get a condom. We're both ready to have sex, but neither one of us has our license [we are 16, just don't have them for certain reason]. So, what are some ways that we can get some? And please don't say they have them in the bathrooms at certain stores, because those are very cheap & break easy. We want to be safe- not have a baby.
anonymous -
Um, you don't need a license to buy condoms. These are condoms, not cigarettes.
Get birth control pills, they're a lot safer. Visit a Planned Parenthood facility near you.

Hey! I'm in my first year of college, and I'm having trouble. It's honestly hard for me to pay attention in class. All teachers do is lecture, lecture, lecture, give a test, and repeat it all over again. I TRY to pay attention and take good notes, but it's never good enough. I've failed half of my tests so far. And since I have 4 more tests coming up within the next 3 weeks, I'm really nervous about those too. You HAVE to do good on tests, because really, that's all your grade is. A bunch of tests.
Does any one have any good study tips for college? It's also hard because they don't give study guides like they did in high school, so I never know what material to study. I really don't know if college is for me. The way I passed high school with As and Bs was..I'd do all the work given, do bad on the tests, and it'd average out to a B. I'm not used to studying. I try, but it doesn't work. Any advice? Thanks.
anonymous -
What I find that works for me is repetition. Constantly review your notes everyday, even if it's little tid-bits every single time. Also, recite your notes aloud as often as possible, and form study groups. In study groups, discuss notes and any misunderstandings you may have, and take turns teaching one another the material via chalkboard, or just notebook paper.
The way I find to really understand my notes is relate it to my life. Relate it to anything significant so it's easier to remember.
I hope this helps, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

ok so im 13 im around 5 foot and weigh 125 am i over weight? i feel as if i am and if so how could i loose some weight? thanks
oo p.s i dont stick to diets well :\
anonymous -
I think you may be a little overweight, maybe by approximately 10 pounds, which isn't really that big of a deal.
If you'd like to lose weight, start exercising. You can eat normally, just do cardio workouts (jogging, running, jumping rope, anything to get the heart rate up) to burn off those intake of calories. Workout at least three days a week, starting at 30 minute sessions. Also drink more water to suppress your appetite by making you feel fuller.

well here is the deal. im am so confused about my sexuality. like i think guys are cute and i may like them when i start going out with them. but when i break up with them i feel as if i never cared about them and that they were someone just passing through my life. But when it comes to females it's a diffrent story. i actually feel something for them. and when i break up with them i really do feel sad. does this mean that a full lezbian instead of a bisexual?
anonymous -
Answer me this, which gender are you more attracted to physically?
I honestly do not think you are a full lesbian only because you mention emotional attachment, which is completely normal. Perhaps maybe this problem is based on your common relation with your female friends, whereas with males you cannot relate with so much so in return, you hold a grudge against the male species while turning your head toward the more familiar gender for comfort and support.
Hope this helps.

Okay, Im kinda big if you kno what i mean but im not like huge and i cant get a boyfriend..but all my friends say im really pretty and everything but i dont think i am..is there anyway i can change how guys look at me ?? I wanna do it for me and not for them. I rate 5s
14/F ( if that helps )

Not all guys like skinny girls, let's put it that way. Guys tend to like girls that look healthy, which includes having a little more meat on them.
Half the time it isn't your looks that they choose not to like, it may be your personality, which you really cannot change.
My advice to you is just live life the way you're living it. If a guy doesn't like you, tough luck. Let one who does like you, find you himself. It's fun dating compared to a committed relationship anyways!

Hey i have a b/f and i really like him but there is this guy that likes me too and every1 says we make a great couple and hes is my best friend and im starting to like him and then theres this other guy that every1 says liks me b/c he is always 2 flirty and just told me that he`d burn me a cd of this band b/c i told him it was really good and i was goin to buy it and hes lik no i`ll burn it for you i have all the cd`s i`ll burn all the good songs and so he is gonna do that and im really startin 2 lik him 2 but i like mi best friend as a guy and mi boyfriend more and im lik wut if he asks me out ?? Wut do i do??
anonymous -
Stay with your boyfriend.
You get flattered easily and could be reading the other guys signs wrong. So what if he wants to burn a cd for you? He's probably just being nice to save you the trouble. And define flirty? If he talks to you a bunch, he's just talking to you a bunch!
Make it clear that you're taken. That way, you won't have to worry about flirty guys.

If you had received it as a gift, why not ask the gift-giver where they got it from or look at the receipt?
If that's not possible, sell it on ebay.

ok !i am having a really bad problem. well me and my boyfriend got into a serious arrgument today. he got mad at me cause he said that i was smiling at his friend. i am like omfg cant i even look at anyone.and on the bus today he broke up with me. then he called me and asked me if i would go back out with him. he apoligized and i said ok. well he called me and talked to me a while ago and i dont even think his sister likes me. so what should i do brake up with him or not? srry for this bein so long.
i will rate all 5's and give feedback for helpful answers only.
anonymous -
Well, since it's a little late for this, I would've suggested going on a break. The guy obviously doesn't know what he wants. And since he appears very protective of you, he needs to learn to loosen up and prove to you that he's worthy.

I have some questions that I could never figure out. And I was wondering if any of you had any good explanations: Why is it that when someone doesn't agree with homosexuality, they are labeled as a "homophobic"? Phobic is like "phobia." And phobia means "fear." So just because you don't like it, it automatically makes you scared of it? And why is it okay to make a "gay only" school or some kind of organization, but if there was a "straight only" school..it would be unfair?
Also, why is it that some people believe that abortion is alright when the baby is inside your womb, but when the second it is out..it's murder? People will say that the baby isn't born yet. But that shouldnt matter, because it's still a living human being. Just because it's not fully developed, doesnt make it's non-existant?
I guess I just wanted a better understanding about these two topics. Thank you for your time.
anonymous -
First off, people don't automatically label people homophobes if they don't like homosexuals. I don't know where you got that idea from. People are labeled homophobes for a good reason.
Also, I have never heard of a gay/straight only school. Yes it would be unfair because it is highly discriminatory and prejudice of the school system to do so. In my old high school, there is called a Gay and Straight Alliance club, joining both social groups to better understand one another and to address the problem appropriately.
About the topic of abortion, if you had done some research, those who are in the Pro-Life movement believe abortion is wrong all within itself. Abortion is basically ending the life of the fetus before it is born, so it wouldn't be referred as abortion if it is already delivered after the 9 months, out of the womb. Under special cases does abortion procedures take place after 24 weeks in to the pregnancy and even then is it not fully developed.
If you really want to understand more about the topics, I'd suggest doing some extensive research rather than asking a bunch of teens.

society tells us that having premarital sex is wrong, (risk of pregnancy, stds...) but also emotionally, that you cant handle a breakup after you lose your virginity to someone, it changes your life forever, etc. I know all of that, but is it true with EVERY SINGLE relationship that if you have premarital sex, it'll drive you two apart and you'll eventually break up. How wrong is it to have sex in highschool (only with 1 person of course and you keep it between yourself.) my boyfriend and I have been going out for 7 months and I want to have sex with him eventually but I'm afraid it'll make us break up... why does that happen? like think back in the 1940's, if you got pregnant both of you would drop out of highschool and GET MARRIED...why cant it be like that these days?
anonymous -
I can tell you straight up that every couple that has premarital sex DOESN'T ALWAYS break up.
The reason why a lot of couples split in the end is because as you know, sex changes everything. Once you have sex, the whole relationship might revolve around sex, which you DO NOT want.
What also tends to happen is that one partner is not satisfied with the sex, and wanders to find satisfaction in another place.
And sometimes, people break up because of other reasons, not based on the sex.
If you want to have sex with your boyfriend, you have to talk to him about it. That's the only way you'll know each other's input on the subject. If you are still hesitant, wait a couple more months, or even years. This wait will prove that your boyfriend loves you enough in order to wait this long, and that sex isn't his top priority.
Having sex in high school with a single partner isn't necessarily bad, but since teens are still too young to sometimes grasp the facts of life, it's labeled as something wrong. Sex, shouldn't JUST be sex, it should be MAKING LOVE, which is very intimate, loving, and personal...not based on lust.
Hope this helps.

These last few times I've had my period I've been really PMSy. Like all constantly have cravings for chocolate, something sweet, or something salty. This has been throwin me off my diet. *Im skinny but I wanna remain healthy and fit* .. What should I do when PMS strikes again?
anonymous -
Eat other things that trigger your sweet tooth, like fruits, juice, etc. If you still want chocolate, try having an assortment of fruit with a chocolate fondue. For the salty part, try kettle corn. It's delicious, and low in fat :)

ok i want to now how do i get rid of love handles with out going to a gym or anything. Im 15/f and im super skinny everywhere else but my love handles and the make me look fat! like everytime i wear jeans i have stuff hanging over just because of them. dont say exercise because i do i just need to no a certain exercise that will help me
anonymous -
Do side crunches, and criss-cross crunches. They help a lot.
When you say you exercise, I question whether or not you're doing it right. If you want real effects, combine your toning exercises with cardio in a circut training type of routine.
Hope this helps.
