I'm Marcia. Somehow, even though I'm only 15, I've changed enough over the past year for my entire lifetime. I've been through a lot, and I've seen a lot. I've dyed my hair horrible colors, I've gained & lost best friends. I've had idiot boyfriends and amazing boyfriends. I've fallen for friends, I've had my heart broken, and I've done the stupidest things. Almost anything you can think of, I've been through it. I never seem to do the right thing on the first try myself, but I learn from that- that's probably why I'm good at giving advice. I want to be a psychitrist when I'm older, and I think this is as close as I can get for now (:

my face is uneven i think? it looks so in pictures but i look normal-ish in the mirror when i see myself.

my question is, when other people look at you, is that what you see in the mirror or a flip of you?
also, what about when a picture is taken of you?

People always look different in pictures.

I'm a shy person and only have two close friends. I always thought that it didn't matter if other people accepted me because they did. Today my best friend sent me this email:

hey, i have something i need to talk to you about. it actually involves dixie too but she is too afraid to talk to you about it because she doesn't want to make you mad or upset. okay first off dixie and i both agree that you have been acting rude to us. every time we say something that isn't said "perfectly" or is not something you would say you treat us like we are 5. like for example at dixies party at my house i said something about sequences (i proabably spelled it wrong but i really don't give a crap) and you were like amanda you are special..blah blah blah. also you make a big deal out of the fact that dixie hasn't seen bambi.....BIG FRIGGIN DEAL!!! you haven't seen marry poppins...OOHH ASHLEY YOU HAVEN'T SEEN MARY POPPINS OH MY GOSH!!! sorry but that's the way you treat us. you have also been acting spoiled and it seems like you are trying to make us jealous....okay personally dixie and i don't give a dookie that you did whatever...good for you..we are happy for you! oh and the college situation. it seems like everytime we are talking about college you always say that dixie can't be an interior designer. SHE CAN DO WHATEVER SHE WANTS IF SHE PUTS HER MIND TO IT. she has an interest in it! SHE CAN DO IT! you are sapost to be her friend and support her instead of put her down!!! why don't you think she can be an interior designer??? cuz she doesn't dress like you do or decorate like you do???????? give me reasons..because if that is your reason then we don't think you could be a teacher because you have no patients. oh and that time you called me just to tell me I was wrong when really i only had a different opinion than yourself. it was about global warming. you said we are all going to die and blah blah. i don't believe in global warming and i don't believe we are all going to die. i don't care what scientists say or what al gore says...they're not God..i only believe what God says. i don't care if you are thinking i am stupid because i am my own person and i have my own opoinion....you heard the old saying "opoinions are like butt-wholes, everybody's got one!" that's all i have to say now but we just wanted to let you know how rude and childish you have acting. we love you to death and don't want to ruin our friendship but we had to say something so you would realize what you are doing is hurtful...and if you are thinking that this letter is hurtful i realize that. i wrote it so you would feel the hurt and humiliation you have caused us. please write back

I just don't get it. I mean I'm the one with self esteem issues. If anything I envy both of them. Just the thought of them being mad at me is killing me. Its like my world is falling apart. Its not just them. My whole family has been treating me worse lately. I'm digressing backwards. I'd went from almost commiting suicide to being a relatively happy teenager. I mean I'm 17 and I want my life to end. I'll never kill myself and I know it. I just don't want to spend the rest of my life alone and unhappy. I just need some advice and help.

I know exactly how you feel. A while back, two of my best friends got together and called me out on some things- which I at first thought weren't true. I know you probably don't want to, but you'll have to admit to your friends that you were wrong. Maybe Dixie and Amanda are overreacting, but for them to say anything in the first place, you must've hurt their feelings somehow. Just let your best friends know you care about them and would never intentionally do anything to make them feel stupid or hurt them. Also, give yourself some time alone to think about things, why you're unhappy and everything. Basically, just talk to your friends. If they're real friends, they'll forgive you and everything will work out. Remember, no matter how bad things may seem, they will always get better. Just have faith.

Im going to a private school next year for the first time, and i have to wear uniforms which is basicly a skirt and a collored shirt. We have to have our socks showing, but not like all the way to our knees. My question is, what do people usually wear for shoes?! I wanted to just wear flats, but socks with them would look pretty weird. And i dont want to wear tennis shoes because that would look ugly. They say the color has to be black brown white or blue... and i have no idea what people wear! any help!? I start school Monday.

ok i am at band camp right now, i know what your thinking but at my school its not geeky, its pretty much worshiped. im 15/f if that helps. so i dont know, i thought this kid was really cute and i dont know his name, i know thats bad too do, but whatever i still think he is really really cute. but today we were practicing inside, and on our break time i was hanging out with some friends and this kid was sitting by himself playing his trombone, i was like turning around and i noticed him. and then i noticed he was sort of staring at me, he was playing but his eyes were watching me. he's really cute, but he was staring at me wierdly, but then he would smile with his instrument up, i dont know if he's trying to tell me something. what do you think i should do to show him without telling him im interested. he looks pretty shy so im not sure, im not really shy around my friends and i dont want to come off to strong. thanks in advance, and thanks for reading i know its long :]



If he's shy and he's smiled at you, it's pretty safe to say he's interested. So I would just smile back & start talking to him & hanging around him more, basically :]

Personally, I think if you dream about him & everything, then you probably do have feelings for him. But only you can figure out your true feelings. Also, if he has a glow about him when he's with you, it's definately a potential sign that he likes you. I take a chance and ask him to hang out. Good luck! :]

ohkay so i want a new hair cut for school,
my hairs brown and pretty long. i like the, i guess you would call it "emo" hair cut. i want mine to like have really short layers on top, but have the bottom be really long. can someone please try to find me some picutres of this haircut? i cant find any.

Well, I'm really confused. I'm 15 years old and I've been raised in a Christian household, and I've always just assumed I've believed in God. My confirmation is coming up next summer, and I'm just really stressed about it. I mean, I know I believe in God, but I don't know why. How can I get myself more familiar with God?



I went through this same problem last year, when I was staring confirmation classes. If your church is anything like mine, then this coming year is going to be amazing for you. We went on trips to other churches, we went to BattleCry, (if you don't know what that is, then I would look into it.) and just went really deep into our faiths. I know I had a lot of doubts about God, and the Bible, and all kinds of things...but after this year, and seeing how God helped me through a lot of things I've had to deal with, I've never been stronger in my relationship with God. Just pray, talk to God, things like that. You'll find your way in the end :]

I think if you really care about your best friend in that way, then you should tell him. It's possible that he feels the same way, and just never wanted to say anything about it. Of course, if you guys did date and it didn't work out, it would probably be slightly awkward. But I think if you're confident that your friendship could survive something like that, then go for it. I know, it's a really tricky situation...But it's likely if you're smart about everything, it'll work out for you in the end. :]

Hey my problem is thats my best friend is going out with this really nice guy but when we went to the fair( I show a horse) she saw this guy that got kicked out of our school for sexual harassment and now she has been walking around holding hands with him but she hasnt even broken up with her boyfriend yet what should I say to her!

If I were you, I would be wondering why my best friend is ditching her boyfriend that's a perfectly nice guy for some random boy that's obviously bad news. I would probably tell her just that, too. Just make sure you're nice about it.

Well, I definately don't think you should give up on her. And I don't think it's right that people tell you not to help her when she needs you- the most important and best thing you could do would be to help her when she needs you. Maybe right now she takes you forgranted, but I'm sure if you just show her you'll always be there & you'll love her no matter what, she'll realize her mistakes. Teenagers are complicated, but they'll always need their mothers, no matter how much they argue against that. It may be good for you to give your daughter some space for a while, so you can both think things out, but NEVER give up on her.

I think it's completely normal that you don't have a boyfriend, and there's nothing wrong with you just because you do not have a boyfriend. I'm fourteen also, and yes, I've had a few boyfriends...But I wish that I hadn't. It really just made things complicated and caused me to do some things I didn't want to do. It's likely that most of the couples at your school are only dating because they think it's what they're 'supposed' to do. Basically, don't worry about it. I'm sure you're a gorgeous and fun girl that any boy will be lucky to have. Just give things time, & wait until you're ready :]

so i was looking at your column and saw your pic...and i really love your hair. i was thinking about getting mine cut in a similar style to yours. im from ohio too so where'd you get it done?...how do you style it like that & is it your natural color? if it isnt whered you get it done cause i really liek the color!

I don't have the same style or color that I had in that picture anymore, but when I got it cut like that it was at MC Hair Consultants, which is in Cuyahoga Falls. If you're not from around there, then I'm sure there's a lot of other places that could give you the same look, because it's pretty simple. Just a lot of angled layers and side-swept bangs.

To get my hair to look like that, I basically just flat-ironed it an then used volumizing hairspray to give it some lift.

The color I had in that picture was mostly my natural hair color, but I did have highlights. I did the highlights myself, but I wouldn't recommend that you do that. Just make sure if you go to a salon to have it highlighted, you tell them to give you chunky highlights and not those stupid thin things. If you want to do it yourself, I used the L'Oreal Chunking Kit & I'm pretty sure they only make one shade of it.

I think you know you love somebody when they're all you think about, everything reminds you of them, etc. Also, you know you're in love with someone if you can honestly trust them with anything, and you know there's nothing they could do to make you feel differently about them. But if you're married, or the person you think you love is married, I would really think about things. Love is a crazy thing, and sometimes it's mistaken for just a whole bunch of like. So, before you make any moves, just make sure it's the right thing & you're really in love. Well, this is tough. If you're only 21 years old with not much experience, I can't think of a whole lot of jobs out there. But my advice to you would be to start small, but good. And then work your way up. Like maybe getting a job as a cashier at a store, and then later on becoming the manager, and so on.
