I guess you could say I love giving advice -
I'm an older sister, a tutor and a psych freak to boot! I always try to be honest and sincere. My school motto was "do unto others as you wish them to do unto you" and I really take that to heart. Any questions I'm capable of answering (love, relationships, general problems, cultural stuff about Thailand, bicultural issues, etc.), I will answer.

i'm 15 years old & i haven't gotten my period for about two months. i've been having it since september 2004 & it's been sort of normal for about 8 months. i'm a virgin & i know this is going to sound extrememly juvenile but is there some way that i could be pregnant without having sex? as i said, i don't mean to sound juvenile but i've heard people say things like, "it's in the water" & is it actually possible? i'm just really nervous, & i'm racking my brain for an answer. could it just be that my period isn't on time? i haven't really been eating any differently. please don't treat me like an idiot, i'm just scared. Rest assured if you have not engaged in sexual activity of any sort (i.e. there's been no contact with a man's sexual organs) then you are NOT pregnant. It's physically impossible. As for that water thing, sperm can only last so long outside a human body (they need a specific temperature) and the journey they have to make is long and difficult and impossible outside of sexual intercourse (masturbation is fine; no way to get pregnant from it) I would encourage you to examine your life...Are you under any extreme stress? Are you on some sort of medication? Have you moved recently (especially to a different time zone that can affect your bodily cycles)? Things like this can change your cycle. But, from what you've said, it seems impossible that you could be pregnant. Don't be scared.

theres no dance places around where i live but i LOVE to dance. i want to lose weight and be motivated to dance and stuff. how do i do this? what should i do every day to be a good dancer? what are some good songs to dance to and not ONLY rap but some is goood too. thank you! (link)
I have the exact same problem as you! I love dancing, but there are so few places to do it in. I solved the problem by burning a CD of my favorite dance songs (hip-hop mostly, but it's pretty eclectic) and just dancing around in my room. I think the best way to lose weight through dance is to simply work up a sweat; make sure your heart goes up a bit, but not too much, because you could hurt yourself (check online weight loss sites for info on target heart rate, warming up and things like that). Anything goes, really, but if you want some dance steps, you might tape some music videos or concerts and watch what they do and try to copy it. Or you could look online for dance steps or routines. Practice makes perfect and the more you dance, the more confident you'll get and even if you don't know any formal steps, I guarantee you'll get better - you'll just start to pick up rhythm and know how to move instinctively. My best friend commented on how well I moved even though I've never had any dance lessons; dancing alot gives you confidence and most modern music doesn't require anything fancy, just keep to the beat. But like I said, you can always see how professional dancers do it and try to pick up some steps. Some great songs to dance to are (I'm almost ashamed to say this) boy band stuff - N'sync and the like ("Girlfriend" is a great warm-up song). I love Bon Jovi's "It's My Life" and Britney Spears is always great for dancing. Have fun!

i dont know wat to do.. when im sad i go hyper to hide my pain.. the same with when im mad or anyhting and so then im like hyper almost all of the time and i dont really think that its all that healthy to cover up things like that but i just cant help it and its seriously exausting to be hyper all of the time and i drink coffee all of the timee so i like never sleep because i'm always pumped full of caffeene so if i wanna go hyper i can and i dont kno watss wrong with mee im only 13 and im addicted to coffee and i never sleep and im hyper 24/7 idk wats wrong pleaseee help

You say when you're sad, you go hyper to hide the condition - it sounds like all of this might be a defense mechanism, your way of coping with something. The coffee is just something for you to feed yourself with - it's called 'self-medication' and people often do it with alcohol or pills. I think your major problem is that you don't have a good outlet for negative emotions. That's what's led to all your other difficulties - your addiction to coffee, your insomnia, your malaise. First of all, know that it's all right to be sad or mad or whatever emotion it is you're feeling. You're 13 and you have a right to negative feelings; this is a right you will always have, so know that. Second, know that you don't have to hide your pain. I don't know specifically what your problems are, but I'm sure there are people in your life you can discuss them with. If you really feel you don't have anyone to talk to, find a school counselor or call a hotline. There's always help available. If you don't really feel like talking, just write things down in a diary. This can really help. Third, try channeling your energy into some activity - sports maybe or whatever you enjoy. Sometimes, being productive will help burn off excess energy as well as helping you cope with problems. Fourth, nip your addiction in the bud - quit, go cold turkey. This will be hard, I won't kid you. But just stop drinking coffee - aim for a week coffee-less. If you fail, no worries. Try again the next day. Just keep telling yourself, you don't need the stuff. It's a crutch. Fifth, if you give up coffee, your inability to sleep should go away, but if it doesn't, try going to be earlier or limiting any stimulating activities right before bed. Write down stuff you're worried about and put the paper away; this will help clear your mind. Remember, you have the ability to help yourself. Just find something you enjoy to do, and the hyperactivity should calm down. Good luck.

I have pimples/zits on my arms how can I get them to disapear completely! This is a big emergency!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (link)
Well, makeup always works in a jiffy. (It's okay if you're guy, too, I can't tell your gender from your question). Lay on some concealer that just about matches your natural skin tone and powder and watch those pimples disappear. However, make sure you're not allergic first! Also, you might try to find out what's causing this outbreak and nip it in the bud. but for now, just cover up. if you want them to disappear, though, only cleanliness and some time (2-3 days at the least) will do that.

hey. i babysit this cute lil boy who is four. he is very good and i want to have a nice way to reward him for helping me alot. he helps clean the table and goes potty by himself. does anybody know anything i could give him or treat him to when he is good? (link)
A verbal "Good boy" or "You're so helpful" can do wonders. You could come up with a reward system too - like a star sticker pasted into a special book everytime he does something good or a coloring page for him color and keep in a folder. It's all about positive reinforcement - if you make it seem like a reward, he'll value it too and look forward to it.

my penis is small in size please help me is the penis enlargement possible if yes how (link)
Size is relative. What may seem small to you may be just right for someone else or too small for others. It doesn't really affect sex that much, but if it's for self-esteem issues, you might consider consulting a health professional. I wouldn't try any "home remedies". The only enlargements I've heard of are of the snake oil variety which cause the penis to rot and fall off. So, talk to a professional and good luck.

i CANT tell my mom should i talk to my brother or my cuzin about it! they are both really close to me and they both tell me that if i have a question bout sumthing to talk to them and they can take me places and stuff (link)
that's fine - talk to your bro or coz. it helps to have some support. but if not, it's okay to go by yourself. if you're old enough to have sex, you're old enough to take responsibility for your own safety. it's your choice not to tell your mother; i respect that. but i totally agree with telling your brother or cousin.

well i am 14 can 14 year olds buy condoms? and where do i get birth control pills? (link)
Yes, 14 year olds can buy condoms. I don't know about where you are, but over here, they sell them in convenience stores, like 7-11. Just take it to the counter and pay. Or a drugstore/pharmacy, should have them. You can also ask them about birth control at the drugstore, but I suggest talking to a doctor first, a gynecologist. Go down to a clinic and talk to the gynecologist; just explain that you're sexually active and you'd like to start on birth control and what does he/she suggest? they might prescribe them or tell you what brand to buy or things like that. it's important to consult a doctor most of the time because you may have unknown allergies and you'll have someone to talk to if there are any side effects. They can also give you safe sex tips. Good luck.
is it absolutely 100% neccessary for a woman to go to a gynocologist at some point in her life? and what do they do, exactly?
(link)
Is it 100% absolutely necessary? If you're not sexually active, then no. However, it is recommended that women over the age of 20, sexually active or not, should go in for regular gynecological check-ups, especially a Pap smear, which detects abnormal cervical cells, which could help detect the early stages of cervical cancer. The gynecologist is basically a "women's diseases specialist". They're trained like regular medical doctors, but they emphasize women's common diseases. They can recommend birth control, answer any sexual questions you may have and offer pointers on keeping yourself healthy as a woman. If you are a virgin, tell your gyno - one of the things they do is perform an internal exam (ever see movies where there's a woman on a bed-like thing with stirrups? Those are used in an internal exam) and if you're a virgin (never had sex) it may be painful.

ok so this is a weird question...but girls how are you suposed to...um...shave...down there?
(link)
Your trusty old safety razor (like the ones used for shaving your legs) will do just fine. I highly recommend *against* barber shop razors if you're unexperienced - could be dangerous. Some people get it shaved at a salon, but uh...that's a matter of personal taste. You can easily do it at home. Lather up real good and be forewarned that shaving that area can cause mild to severe irritation. Small hairs just under the surface may cause itchiness. To alleviate this, rub lotion on it or exfoliate and shave some more. But if you're not sure, don't do it. Pubic hair has a sanitary function just like your eyebrows and eyelashes, and it's not necessary to shave it.

okay me and my boyfriend had sex the other night it was about 3days ago. But no sperm came out! and we didnt use protection! no sperm came out and he didnt go all the way in so i am not sure if i have a chance of bein pregant or if i am pregant or wat please help!!! (link)
All right, by sex, what exactly do you mean? Did he penetrate you? If there was penetration of any sort, even if he didn't get all the way in, there is a chance of pregnancy. And when you say, "no sperm came out", I'm not sure what you mean. Does that mean he didn't ejaculate? Please know that even without ejaculation, the male genitals release pre-ejaculatory fluids that contain a small number of sperm that CAN get your pregnant. So, from what you've said, there IS MOST DEFINITELY a chance that you could be pregnant. It doesn't mean you ARE pregnant, because it's never 100%, but there's a chance - there's ALWAYS a chance with unprotected sex, like you had, unless both or one of you are sterile. Don't panic. First of all, if you're feeling nervous, go out and buy three home pregnancy tests. Read the box - make sure their accuracy rates are somewhere in the high 90s - 95%-97% is acceptable. They don't have to be the same brand, but it would help. Take all three at about the same time. If more than one says you're pregnant, you're most likely pregnant. If only says it, go out and buy another few and test again. Pregnancy tests are not 100% accurate and the more you take, the higher the chances are that your results are accurate. If you're uncertain, consult a health professional. I wish you luck and for next time, consider going on the birth control pill or buying some condoms. This will save you from future headaches.

ok well i had my peroid and i thought it was over bc well it stopped fer a while and i already ruined my FAV shorts but my mom cleaned them and they are faded now and i was wearing a thong and those shorts and it came bacK!!!!! what should i do.. n is it normal to have it stop fer like hours?? and ya?? (link)
Was it towards the end of your cycle? Sometimes, towards the end, it appears to stop, but shortly after, you'll have some bleeding. The best way to avoid this is to count how many days your average period is - say, 5 days. On the 5th day, even if there appears to be no bleeding whatsoever, use a pad for lighter days (they sell thinner ones just for this purpose). Sometimes, there's still some uterine lining that hasn't cleared out and may dislodge due to physical activity. It's perfectly normal. You should only worry when your period continues for days and days afterward and the bleeding is heavy or discolored.

I have this friend and she hangs out with me all the time and stuff but shes kinda mean to me and sometimes it gets to the point where im so sad that i cry . what should i do? (link)
The question you ought to ask yourself is: can you continue to call someone your friend if they make you cry and feel bad about yourself? I would reappraise this relationship. There are plenty of other people to hang out with, of course; break it to her gently that she's hurting you, see what she says. Maybe she has no idea about her destructive behavior. But whatever you do, don't stand for it.

Im 16 yrs old and starting shaving my pubic hair at 13yrs old. And for some reason it gets all pricky and when I shave the pricky lil hairs off I start to bleed. Anyone have any ideas on what I should do? (link)
Actually, it's not really recommended that you shave your pubic hair. It's there for a reason, the same reason you have hair on your head and eyebrows and eyelashes. The prickly hairs are probably ingrown hairs or the parts of hairs you didn't shave off pushing towards the surface. This will cause itching and irritation. The best way is *not* to shave it right away, because you'll just be shaving skin - hence, the bleeding. You should probably exfoliate first with a loofah or some kind of lotion with salt or sugar in it as an exfoliant (make sure you're unallergic, first), these will expose the hairs. Wait for them to grow a bit and then shave, if you must. But you ought to consider letting it grow out. It serves a hygienic purpose.

i am a girl and my brother is 2 years younger and we always get in fights. ALWAYS. its getting annoying now cause we fight about EVERYTHING. we also in general annoy eachother like if we are in the car and he pinches me so i will hit him. and yeah we like REALLY HURT eachother. so i want this to stop... please try to help and if you do i will rate you a 5!! (link)
I had the exact same problem as you - my brother is two years younger as well and we used to fight *all the time*. It just got better a few years ago because I finally started using this tactic - I told him I loved him. I didn't say it out loud at first, coz as any older sister knows, younger bros are notorious for twisting your words around. I just started showing him that I was his older sister and I loved him. Like, if he pinched me, no matter how much it hurt. I'd ignore him. If it got really bad, I'd say something like, "If that the only way you can express yourself, I'm cool with that." I started showing him I loved him more, too, whereas before I hadn't. Like, if he was having trouble with homework or something, I'd offer to help. I smothered him with kindness. It worked. I wouldn't say he's an angel, but he realizes now that I'm not the enemy; I love him and we're more alike than different. Try to build a sense of partnership with your bro - after all, he's the only other person who really knows what it's like to be your parents' kid, living in your house etc. Don't fight violence with violence, that never works. Be the reasonable one; you're older after all. And here's a little bit of evolutionary trivia: DNA wise, you and your bro are more related than either of you are to your parents. So, he really is more like you than you can imagine. Good luck.

what kind of food are healthie that make your body in perfect shape
I will rate high I promise that is if you give a good answer please help me I really need it please (link)
Hmmm, there's really no clear-cut answer to this question, because most foods, if taken in moderation, are perfectly fine. That being said, consult a food pyramid (just Google it) to see the recommended daily servings for each food group. If you eat the minimal required servings for your activity style, you should be healthy and in perfect shape. That is, think about your activity level and eat the servings of each food group recommended for that (a moderately active person should eat about 3-4 servings of carbohydrates, for instance) and of course, don't forget to exercise. That's also key to keeping healthy - physically as well as psychologically.
Addendum: Like I said, you can eat just about anything, it all depends on the portions. Basic tips are, choose lean cuts of meat (white meat is better, so stick with chicken and fish) and eat lots of leafy green vegetables, like lettuce or spinach.
Well, for the past week or so I've been discharging heavily, this is nothing new, but my discharge is brown. It's usually not that color, at all. What could be wrong? I'm no sexually active at all, but is around the time I usually get my period. Is something wrong? (link)
It may be nothing more than something that changed in your diet, and since you mentioned your period's about to begin, it may be related to that. However, to be on the safe side, you should schedule a doctor's appointment. You may have an internal infection that is causing the discoloration; you do not need to be sexually active to pick up such infections, they could be due to poor hygiene or a number of other factors. Mention to your doctor that you are not sexually active; this will help rule out certain diseases and you won't have to go through an internal exam coz it would hurt too much if you've never had sex. I wish you luck.

I got sunburn on my cheeks about a week ago and now it's starting to peel. The problem is It's coming off in tiny peices so when I try to get it odd I pull the little hairs on my cheek...is there anyway to get rid of the dead skin without purchasing anything. (I have no loofah.) Exfoliating tips??
Thanx I'l rate appropriately! (link)
When I got really bad sunburn, my mother rubbed the peeling skin off with calamine lotion and a soft towel. Aside from that, I've seen some fancy exfoliating creams that contain sugar in them, but instead of wasting money, why not fill a bowl with sugar and add warm water until it turns into a sort of dense syrup mixture (it should still be grainy; if the sugar is all dissolved, add more) and gently rub this on your face. You shouldn't have any allergic reactions to this and it shouldn't hurt either; if it does, just add more water. But to be on the safe side, always test a bit on the fleshy part of your underarm first and wait for up to an hour to see if anything happens. Good luck.
