well, this isn't really a site just for teens, it's a site for all ages. I figured someone could easily run an entire advice column on just cooking, but who's going to list "acne" as a favorite category? nobody I know. we'll consider it though.

Saying mean things or joking around isn't that bad, we don't ban people for that. We ban people for being overly obscene, yes, but we try not to. Generally speaking, if you want people to get good advice, you've got to give it yourself.

I don't know. Are you sure you're a moderator today? Just because you're a moderator once, doesn't mean you're always a moderator. If you don't have the "moderator tools" heading on the left side panel, you're not a moderator.

you're probably fine. we only ban people for advice if they're being really gross or cussing everybody out. if you're just being a smart ass, well, do your thing.

did you edit your profile settings yesterday? there was an error for about four hours that turned everybody's column red. if you click "column settings" you can change your colors.

right, okay, I looked at your style and you didn't use any variables, you just cut and copied what the page source was. you need to have "" in the page code somewhere otherwise our server doesn't know where to put your questions and feedback and all that.

go back to edit your style, and find the place where you pasted all your questions and answers in. replace those with this bit of code: "". The server will automatically replace that with your new advice and your feedback whenever someone visits the page.

there's a whole list of variables in the "overall page layout" there that you'll want to read through... like, if you don't have "" it won't update your favorite columnists when you change them. if you don't have "" it won't add new pages as you answer more questions.

keep trying, I admire you for wanting to make your own style. most people on this site have been too intimidated to even go there :)

oh crap, I know what went wrong. I screwed up part of the code on the settings page. yes, your colors are gone. there's nothing else I can say except sorry, you are a victim of progress, kinda like those astronauts who died on apollo 1.

if it makes you feel better, you should be able to put them all in now and edit your profile settings and it should all be okay!

they were probably deleted. I just added a thing to put a note there on the 'editing' page if that's the case... see if that helps.

I just fixed a bug that was showing unspecified ages as 0 (the "teens only" box shows columnists under 19), so if you haven't entered your age in the Edit Settings page, you won't be shown in the Teens Only or Adults Only section.

You're encouraged to give advice to everybody, but sometimes teens just want help from teens and adults just want help from adults so I made the little quicksearch thing for that.

right now, no. people who have been banned are out of the running. we'll probably change this though and set it up so if you're good for a month, you're eligible again, because I admit it's a little harsh.

Unless you're really the scum of the universe, you get unbanned. Most bans are only 3-day ones, although admins can ban people for up to 5 days. To ban someone forever I have to step in, which is very rare.

So far, the only permenant bans we've had to enforce were on spammers trying to sell diet pills and home mortgages through public questions. that is so not cool it's not even funny.

I haven't deleted a question in weeks. Questions are deleted when four people have rated it, and the average rating is at the lowest level. They vote that way. So there's probably not one person you can get mad at here.

Also, if you want any chance of your question being restored, it helps me if you supply a link. I can't help you now, except to say that life isn't always fair.

This advice column is for suggestions, comments, or error reporting about advicenators. If you'd like to suggest a new category, ask me a question. If you'd like to whine, bitch, or complain about advicenators, you may whine, bitch, or complain to me.

Three rules though:
1) Do not ask me for life advice. We have several thousand other members that do that.

2) Do not ask for help, or ask how to do something, or ask about
how something on the site works, unless you've read every word of our help pages and you're sure it's not addressed there.

3) Do not ask me to ban someone or investigate abuse. We have an entire abuse system set up for that.

Some guidelines about suggestions:
If you offer a suggestion that I find interesting, I might just ignore your question so it stays in my inbox as a reminder of something to do. Don't be upset that I don't answer you, and don't delete your questions (because then I'll forget!)

If you have three suggestions, please ask three separate questions, that way I can address each one individually. It's a real pain when people ask one question with like twenty different topics in it; I can't keep them straight.
