Advicenators discussion: Want Column Help?

If anyone wants help improving their column
I would be glad to take a look and give you
an honest opinion. Just ask here. Be warned
I will be honest even if it might hurt your
feelings. So only ask if you seriously want
ideas on improving things.

Your column is very good Jack.
The only thing I would change
is the large picture. You give good
advice and that should be what people
focus on when they go to your column. :)
I like the background. Makes things easy
to read. Good punctuation, proper English.
I didn't know you were from Australia, how
did I miss that? Guess because you don't have
an accent. :)

Yours looks very good. Same reasons I gave Cux,
easy to read, good language skills. Good sense
of humor without being nasty. Perfect.

I think the rainbow background is hard on my eyes and it gets confusing.

Yeah the 'chatspeak' as you guys call it is hard not to do since i go on this site from my phone which im used to texting spelling on even though im seventeen my parents dont allow me on the computer its ridiculous how little i am allowed to do... overprotective strict parents... i can go on the internet on my phone though only because my boyfriend bought me my cell and pays for it... but anyway thank you ill work on it :)

It is easier- but also you can go to google images, and type in a color, such as"mint green".
Then, you right click and press properties, and copy the link tht says "address".
from there, you go to column settings on the left side of your screen, paste the URL where it says backround image URL, and huzzah-its a background.

I do like the rainbow, but it does
make reading your column hard to do.
It is distracting. You want your advice
to be peoples main focus. I have seen
a lot worse, but my advice is something
plainer. At least where the writing is.
Use proper English and punctuation.
2gether, 4ever. Those are ok for texting
friends. For your column you need to use
proper English skills. People are going to
take your advice much more seriously if
you do.
A picture isn't important.

Now, don't get me wrong. I have been known
to like Mr smartass, even though I must
sometimes give him a ban.
If you could give the good advice. Throw in
a little smartassery without twisting the knife
I think we could all be happy.
If there is absolutely nothing good you can
add to an answer, just leave it alone.
I like this photo. Column looks very good. :)

If I give them criticism,
they may not like it at all,
but I hope they realize I am
trying to be helpful.
I know that was your intent too.
But, when several start saying
this is wrong and that is wrong,
it suddenly may feel to that person
that they are being picked on.
I never want anyone to feel that way.

You do need to capitalize the first word of
your sentences. Who knows, someday you may
want to use your column in a resume. It also
looks more professional and reliable if
written correctly. Your advice will be taken
more seriously.

Yikes! That really aggravates people around
here. :) Actually I would leave off the Hope
I helped altogether. Use Good luck only if
it is a tough situation they are in and they
really need it.
Easy things to fix. Do that and it will be
a column to be really proud of. I wouldn't
add any more decorations. As Cux said it is
your advice that should be the focus of your
column. :)

yea...its just wierd...because my sister is on this site, and when I see her column, I am so jealous because it looks so good. And she also has more questions answered than I do too...and she joined AFTER me :-[ so its kind of depressing in a way. But in all honesty, I think that I take more time answering questions, and put more thought into them than she does :-] so in a mental way for me, it helps! ps thanks for the advice on the column! I am definetly going to start changing things!

Interesting name and giving the meaning of it
was interesting to read. Looks like you are

I love your column. It looks so neat and tidy!
The only thing I would change is the color of
the text on your answers. Thats the most
important part! You want people to see what
you have to say.
Other than that it is perfect. I really like
what you've done with it. :)
