I'm writing an essay in English concerning the different life styles of teenagers in high school. If you guys could answer a few questions just to give me a few ideas, I'd totally appreciate it. :)
1. What kind of things do you do? (Sports, clubs etc.)
2. Do you have 1 best friend that you spend a lot of time with or a group of friends you spend all your time with?
3. Does your school have lockers outside? Anything cool about your school-block schedule? Stuff like that.
4. Are drugs and drinking big concerns at your school?
5. Finally, is your high school life fun? Do you spend most of your time studying or hanging out with friends? Do you go out with friends every weekend? What kind of stuff do you do?
You can answer some or all of the questions, I'm just trying to get a few different ideas. Thanks!
2. I have 1 best friend i spend a lot of time with.
3. No, lockers are inside and the block schedule is awesome. We have 4 classes and each are 80 minutes long. Only 4 subjects!
4. Only average, not too bad.
5. Yes! Very fun! I study and spend time with friends...i mostly hang out with them every weekend, go to the movies or something, and when i can't we ususally do something as soon as i am available! [ ccupcake07's advice column | Ask ccupcake07 A Question ]
Cux answered Monday January 5 2009, 8:53 pm: 1. I am in: International Thespian Society, National Honor Society, Key Club, and Drama.
2. I have like 5 good friends I hang out with. They're in the plays with me, so I end up spending hours on end with them.
3. No, we have lockers inside. Why would they be outside? We have 6 hours in the day. On Wednesdays we have 7, because we have a Cougar Hour, which is like a study hall, kind of. But you can go to any teacher and get extra help, make up tests, etc. It's helpful. Our mascot is the Cougar, by the way.
4. Yeah, our school takes it very seriously. It's automatic 30-day suspension if you're thought to have drugs. I'd say like 70-80% of the people have tried alcohol at least once. I think 40% of people have smoked something at least once. But I think people do all of it for attention.
5. I hated high school in freshmen year and sophomore year. This year, I started to like it more, but then I realized that I'm sick of it again. The people are irritating, and I can only tolerate so much. I spend equal time studying and hanging out. I spend most of my weekends with family. We play board games =].
sml111992 answered Monday January 5 2009, 7:29 pm: 1. i do out door Track
2. i dont have a group of friends i have a boyfriend that i consider my best friend because we were beofore so i mainly hang with him and no longer in a group im friends with many people and hang with who ever asks.
3.our lockers are inside because i live in upstate New York and its cold wet and snowy lol instead of 9 periods we have 4 blocks which are 80 minutes long but luch is only 40. and you dont go to the highschool until sophmore year so middle school runs off of 7th 8th and 9th
4. ya seems like everyones doing some kind of drugs its surprising who you would find out that does this stuff.
5. my highschool life i guess its fun i hate studying but i get decent grades not failing anything if i had the choice i would hang out with friends all the time. thats my hobby! i go out every weekend if i can sometimes out of the week but thats rare. i ususally go to the mall or hang at a friends house. triquetra answered Monday January 5 2009, 4:14 pm: 1) I'm do fencing at my school.
2) Personally, I try and hang out with whomever is around whenever I can really.
3) We've got our lockers inside thank goodness so we're out of the cold most of the time.
4) Yes, to the point where you're even caught with drugs, you're promptly expelled. How much you're allowed to drink is strictly monitored.
5) I do both studying and hanging out. There are range of activities to do so you can't get bared that easily. Don't really go out with friends at weekends, I mostly like to just have some "me time" and just relax!!!
xosodapopx3 answered Monday January 5 2009, 4:12 pm: 1. I used to play softball, soccer, and basketball, but now I play volleyball. and only volleyball...all year around (thats because of club) But I also do some charity work when I have the time
2. I pretty much have one best friend that I primarily hang out with, but I hang out with a group of friends that usually doesnt include her because she doesnt hang out with my other friends.
3. No my school doeesnt have lockers outside, but we do have block scheduling...I SIT ON THE FLOOR because there are just too many people in our school. But we do get pizza that is from pizza palace, and subway, and cluck-you, and chineese food that is to die for.
4. LITTERALLY pretty much 99.8% of our school has a drinking problem, less drugs, but thats very common too. Which is why I mostly dont hang out with alot of people in my school, if you dont drink or do drugs, you are an outkast.
5. I hate high school to be very honest. I used to like it, but it really sucks. Like I said, Im not into drinking or doing drugs, so I get ridiculed and not invited to alot of parties. But this is also a result of the fact that my parents are really strict (very nice) but strict, if they ever found out i so much had a beer, they would probably kill me... Overall yes I do hang out with friends every weekend, and dont get me wrong if i sound like a "geek" I am definetly not, I have tons of friends, and I am ALWAYS busy. I also have a boyfriend, but I make sure he doesnt drink either, so long as hes together with me as bf and gf :-) hope I helped with your work!

LOL_x0x answered Monday January 5 2009, 3:45 pm: 1. I'm on my school Newspaper, in the French Honor Society, Interact Club [it's a community service club], and joined Winter Guard this year.
2. I have 3 best friends that I spend about 98 percent my time with, and some other friends that I'll occasionally see a movie with or go to a football game with.
3. Our lockers are all inside of the school. It's funny you should mention schedules, because ours are terrible. My school is SO overcrowded, that we are going to a "split schedule" next school year. This is where half of the school [seniors and juniors] go to school for the first half of the day [something like from 6:44 to 12:44], and the other half[freshman and sophomores] go to school for the seconds half of the day [something like from 12:44 to 6:44]. It's a huge pain and I really don't like it :/
4. It's not so much a "concern", because the school doesn't pay nearly enough attention to it, but it's a huge issue at my school. I'd say about 80 percent of kids at my school drink, and somewhere around 60 percent do drugs.
5. YES. I love high school! I have had so much fun in the past 2.5 years, that I can't even begin to explain. I spend my weeknights studying or at Winterguard practice/newspaper meetings. I spend my weekends with my 3 best friends. We usually have movies days :]
LM answered Monday January 5 2009, 3:42 pm: 1. My school's all about sports. We have a Robotics team [it sounds nerdy, because quite honestly it is, but its great] and other very small clubs like an art magazine and Bible Club. There's also a SEA Club [Environmental stuff], Leo Club [community service] National Honor Society, and more.
2. I have a couple best friends, and we all hang out together in smallish groups. Like 6-8 people. We usually keep it kow-key and just hang out at someone's house, play Guitar Hero, MarioKart, Apples to Apples, etc.
3. The school is amazing [our school leads the nation in "going green" and we've been featured on the news before] but the layout SUCKS. Because it's a technical school [hard to get into, less than 50% get accepted] half the lockers are in the shop areas- which means they're too far away to use during academic classes.
The coolest thing about my schedule is that I only spend half of the school year in normal classes like math and history. Every other week, I go to shop. It's basically a weeklong selective that prepares you for a job. Like, instead of taking home economics and a cooking class, you'd be in culinary arts.
4. It's not any worse than your average school. A Lot of people drink, and it's ridiculous. I'd say that not as many do drugs as drink.
I live in a relatively safe part of my state, and there's always police patrolling & we have IDs and all that. How much it actually helps, I'm not sure. But nothing bad has happened. Besides the occassional chopped off finger, but that's to be expected with careless people around large knives and guillotine-style cutters =P
5. I can't complain. My life is good. Once I have time to get a job it'll be even better =D
hollerzDangel answered Monday January 5 2009, 2:35 pm: sure.
1) i play soccer, i'm in Chorus, Drama Club, Key Club, and GAA.
2) I really only hang out with 2 people with frequency.
3) We have lockers in our hallways. I take a business class every other day....that's the only interesting thing.
4) it seems like everybody does it. I only know a hand full of people who haven't done one, let alone both.
5) My high school life is alright I suppose. I spend a lot of time with friends. But I usually spend weekends at home because everyone else is partying, and I'm just not into that.....I read a lot and write my own stories.
Disconnected answered Monday January 5 2009, 1:51 pm: Well, I live in Europe so my high school isn't the same as the one in the states, but I think I can answer these questions ;)
1. I snowboard and play Tennis a lot. I used to go to drama club.
2.I have a group of friends I spend my time with. Big groups.
3.My school has a lot of space outside where people can hang out. Also if you have a special pass, you can leave the school when you have no lessons or just borrow a guitar when you have no lessons.
4. Drugs and drinking. Well, teachers don't say anything about it...but a lot of people do drugs and drink. I personally don't do drugs, but it's a big problem for some people, and they have ruined friendships with people.
5. My school life is fun :D I love it. I have a balance between going out and studying. If I have tests coming up, I'll probably go out on a Friday night, but then I'll spend the rest of the weekend studying. I never neglect studying for tests and I rarely forget to do an homework. Because we have half day on Wednesdays in school, I generally go shopping, watch a movie or go eat someplace with friends. On Friday or Saturday nights, we usually go out to town (mostly to bars) but in an alcoholic way :P I also go to a lot of concerts with friends, which is fun.
