One of my teachers told us that we should be saving our work from every year. Do you think we should? Why? & For what grades? Like, does middle school work even matter? Thanks :)
christina answered Friday November 2 2007, 12:25 am: Yeah, and here's why:
The final exam at the end of the year contains every piece of information you learned during the year. It can be a good study guide. Saving the information will help you so not only should you save all the information for that class, but you should do that for every class because it'll still help. Not saving it won't exactly hurt you, but it's not good to remove it either way.
Middle school work doesn't matter because I was told that they pass you anyways if you fail, but I'm not positive if every school does that since every school isn't like mine. But also, save the work even if the school year is done. They usually do review in the beginning of the year, so it's best you save it so you can remember a little. :] [ christina's advice column | Ask christina A Question ]
raebabyyyy answered Thursday November 1 2007, 8:38 pm: all teachers say you should save your work mainly because you probably will see that information again for end-of-the-year testing. personally, i think you should keep it because i remember i never kept anything and i almost failed school, haha. Erinn_the_bamf answered Thursday November 1 2007, 7:25 pm: There's no need to save every piece of information. Take out key things or things you just find interesting. It is good to save some things though. Espically in areas such as math or a foriegn language because it's easy to forget formulas or phrases in other languages over the summer.

Since if you get a progress report or ask for one, you may see mistakes with worksheets or grades. You will have the work to prove that you did it or got another score on it. If you don't, you will have bad grades and have no way of proving otherwise.
Some teachers are stubborn about it and claim that they did not misplace or lose work. [my teacher did this to me. she even said that she misplaces work & then she did this.. when i remember turning it in with my friend]
It does happen, they just don't want to appear unprofessional. Some are nice though and realize they are human. But the majority do not like to be corrected so keep some work.
You should always keep important things like essays, projects, and tests. Put it in a tiny box. Always make a copy of essays or don't delete it off your computer until the semester is over.
In high school, you should save certain things that YOU think may become helpful. Let's say, for biology.. you have a whole year of work in a huge notebook. It may become useful for you in your next science class as a review. I don't think middle school work would matter unless you need it to remember certain things. uisforukelele answered Thursday November 1 2007, 6:42 pm: no, that has never helped me. in my opinion, if you ever needed to know anything from past years, you could either ask your friends who took that class or just look it up online. just recycle it :) however, if you are taking a foreign language, it may be helpful to keep like little vocab or notes sheets. i kept mine from last year and i've had to look at them a few times, although that is also something that you could throw away and look up online if you ever needed it. use your judgment, but honestly there's no sense in keeping it unless it's a cool project. xo_underneath answered Thursday November 1 2007, 6:41 pm: Its not a bad idea to save your work, in case you didn't understand something you could go back and look at it. I think teachers just tell you that, because the stuff you learn each year is pretty much the same thing you leaned the years before. I still have my 8th & 9th grade algebra work! I was keeping it around cause I'm horrible with algebra & figured that if I needed to look over it again, I'd have it there to do so. I will probably have to use it in January when I take an algebra course for college. But who knows, lol. Hope I helped you out some! [ xo_underneath's advice column | Ask xo_underneath A Question ]
missbananafontana answered Thursday November 1 2007, 6:35 pm: No. Why would you? That'd be like 100 lbs of paper. I'd write down in a notebook at the end of each term the key ideas of each subject to look back on during other grades. But no, just recycle the paper. Your teacher is probably just a packrat.
