Question Posted Wednesday October 31 2007, 11:33 pm
I have about 4 pairs of jeans that I wear regularly. I have been wanting to buy another, and I was wondering your thoughts on the quality of certain brands. Does a higher price mean higher quality?
The brands that I have are:
Mudd(these recently ripped right in the crotch, so are becoming a purse.)
Old Navy(these were hand-me-downs from my little sister)
Aeropostale(My most comfortable)
Sevens(These are definitely my best, verifying the Quality is higher with higher prices idea)
I was just wondering if you all had other experiences or advice on what type of Jeans I should get next!
RegalSilver answered Saturday November 3 2007, 4:12 pm: Aeropostale and American Eagle jeans are really nice but you're right they are expensive. I've gotten reduced price American Eagle jeans from Value City a couple times. So I'd check there. This is a hard question because even though the type of jean may be durable it doesn't mean it'll fit you right. I think your best bet would be to invest in jeans from Aero or American Eagle though. I haven't had good luck with jeans from PacSun though. They're really nice the first time I wear them but after they're washed they shrink a lot and feel weird. A higher price doesn't mean higher quality. [ RegalSilver's advice column | Ask RegalSilver A Question ]

I really like Aeropostale, but I also wear Levi's, Arizona, Old Navy, and probably a lot others that I don't even know the name of. What I do and would recommend that you do as well, is try on a few different brands of jeans. Choose by price, comfort, and quality. Happy shopping!

Caroline_ answered Thursday November 1 2007, 9:28 pm: Jeans can be really expensive and a pain to shop for. My most recent sucesses were cozy skinny jeans found at forever21 ( $21) and anchor blue ($25).
i was shocked at the prices and expected them to die with in a few months but its been 7months and they are fine.
heres what i do to avoid rips:
wash them inside out
in a somewhat gentle cycle
hand them dry
and dont be afraid to wear one pair of jeans twice before washing
it could double the life of your jeans!!!!
LoveNJstyle answered Thursday November 1 2007, 6:01 pm: I haven't seen mudd jeans sold anywhere in a really long time but i definatly remember those.
all the other ones i think are pretty good. i have a couple pairs from aero from a long time ago and they're good for the price. they're like $15 on sale and you can get the latest styles then get rid of them since they weren't too expensive.
my personal favorites are hollister and ae jeans. a&f is too high cut on me for some reason. but ae jeans are durable and hollister jeans are cute. try on a bunch of different kinds and pick the ones you like the most. they're like $40 [sometimes 30 or 20 at ae] and they last a long time.
if you like 7 jeans but they're like really expensive, go to filene's basement if there's one by you. they're $40 there. <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
uisforukelele answered Thursday November 1 2007, 6:00 pm: american eagle, definitely. they last for a really long time- i've never had any of my ae jeans rip or anything. in fact, the pair i'm wearing right now is almost three years old. and they're comfy too! they're normally about 30-40 dollars a pair, but they last for a really long time. it would be a smart idea to buy some that are just a little bit bigger than you need them to be because they could shrink. ASAPcamille answered Thursday November 1 2007, 2:53 pm: American Eagle jeans are amazing quality. Although they are a little pricey, you are better off getting the more expensive pair and having them last a longer time- than having to keep buying cheap jeans and having them last not a long time. In the long run, by buying the more expensive, you are probably saving money. [ ASAPcamille's advice column | Ask ASAPcamille A Question ]
xoashhx33 answered Thursday November 1 2007, 2:48 pm: i have american eagle jeans which are expensive, not gonna lie but right on them they say made to last. they are way more comfortable than aeropostale i found. my aeropostale jeans are faded and really thin compared to my new american eagle ones. i found that the artist jeans are most like aeropostale fitting wise [ xoashhx33's advice column | Ask xoashhx33 A Question ]
Mulva answered Thursday November 1 2007, 1:38 pm: Sometimes there is a correlation between quality and price, but not often. I have paid over $100 on jeans and they have gotten worn out just as fast as a pair of $15 jeans. It really just depends on what you can afford. I'd say a reasonable price to pay for jeans is in the $40/50 range for everyday wear.
Jeans are going to wear out regardless of how much you paid for them, so try not to get too caught up in searching for high priced/name brand stuff. [ Mulva's advice column | Ask Mulva A Question ]
