Piercing both ears (should I use a gun or needle?)
Question Posted Sunday July 8 2007, 8:43 pm
Hi I am 16 and I am going to get both of my ears pierced in one day somewhere, I'm not sure where yet... I have been doing some research and I have heard that the piercing guns suck! and they screw up a lot... Do you think I should just get my ears pierced by a gun, or by hand at a professional piercing or tattoo shop?

I've gottn my ears pierced three times on each side [mainly because it kept closing when my earrings fell out] all three times with a gun. It's quick, less painful, and more accurate when it comes to piercing any part of your body in a striaght line.
I mean, I had my lip pierced with a piercing stud but it came out perfectly fine and it wasn't crooked at all. But it took a wee bit longer and was a little bit more painful. But, hmm it's not exactly an ear. My mom got hers pierced with a needle because my cousins basically forced her too [don't ask =P] but yeah, one side came out crooked so it's pretty much messed up.But yeah, a gun, although it's less sanitary, is a better choice.

KisaKiss19 answered Sunday July 8 2007, 10:29 pm: ahh deffinatly choose the needle! it doesn't hurt as much, they numb your ear/nose/whatever. and besides, the gun shatters your cartiledge. you could get infections easier. just make surethe place is real good at keeping things steril(sp?) i hope i helped.good luck !
XSugarPieX77 answered Sunday July 8 2007, 10:08 pm: I have 8 ear piercings, 4 in each ear in various places, and all from a piercing gun!!! They usually put a spot on your ear with a washable marker before they do it so that they get it in the right spot. But, whatever you feel the best about you should do. By hand might hurt more, but i've never gotten it done by hand. Good Luck! Hope I helped, i'm sure it'll turn out great.
MODERNDURATION answered Sunday July 8 2007, 10:04 pm: i had mine done by a gun, if you are getting your ear lobes pierced i would suggest the gun because it is fast and easy, besides there is little to no cartlige there. But/if you ever get your cartlige pierced i suggest a needle because it isnt as painful during the healing process. [ MODERNDURATION's advice column | Ask MODERNDURATION A Question ]
Trauma answered Sunday July 8 2007, 9:53 pm: Mine were pierced with a gun when I was younger, but now I've heard it's best to have them pierced with a needle, since the guns are harder to clean and keep steralized. [ Trauma's advice column | Ask Trauma A Question ]
