You can wear a tampon if you want, just to be on the safe side, I probably would. But I was in the ocean all day once with a very heavy period and no tampon, and as long as I was in the water, nothing was coming out. DO NOT use a pad in the water, that should be common sense but I just to want to make sure you know that.
