Question Posted Thursday April 26 2007, 10:46 pm

A LOT of people at my school talk about how they always steal from hollister & abercrombie, all the time. they say they never get caught, i really don't think that it's a good idea, but i'm just wondering what are the chances of getting caught stealing at abercrombie or hollister, if you bring the clothes into the dressing room and rip off the tags and stuff them in your purse or whatever. thank you.

the chance is 99%. stealin is wrong. YOU KNOW THAT! EVERYONE DOES! do you honestly think that if you steal, it won't catch up to you eventually? and when you wear those clothes, you'll always remember how you got it, and how will you feel then? in answer to your question, the chance is 99%, so don't try anything!

Don't do it. I used to steal (very minor things, really.. haha, in fact something really stupid.) and now I feel like such a moron as I look back. I honestly could've just asked my parents for it and they would've gotten me them eventually. I really regret it.

People work really hard for their money to spend on clothes and so should you. No shortcuts. Plus, more people BUY items than shoplift. So.. Not everyone is shoplifting, obviously.

Also, in my opinion, you like things better when you earn them. Not when you do something illegal.

Remember, when you shoplift - it's ILLEGAL. If you don't care, then I'm sure you don't care about other illegal things either.. Right? There are laws for a reason.. and that is because it affects all humans in some way, negatively. Well, except you. So if you think the world should revolve around you.. Then go ahead and be selfish :]

But really, I'm not dissing you. I'm just saying it is very bad, so don't try it! Unless you're really poor or something that you absolutely need to. But even then, you'd settle for wal-mart or something.

Haha, I talk a lot. & I'm not saying that this applies to you, I am not blaming you for anything.. I am just stating my opinion. :) Do what you want though.

it is possible to get away with it. it depends..do they have cameras? are there private spots..like isolated kinda? are the workers walking around actively..or kinda just slouching around..are there dressing room attendents if you decide to do it in the dressing room?

well those are all the facotrs ..but listen..donttttt do it. i knew a couple people wou would alwayssssssss steal. 6 months later..they get caught. they get arrested (thankfully it was only $200 worth of stuff so they werent charged with a felony) but its nottt worth it. fines are crazy..its no good..trust mee

Its not a good idea to do it but the chance all depends on who is watching you befor you go into the dressing room.If some one that works at the store has to open up the dressing rooms for you and they see you walk out with less then you had in the first place they will figure it out.

don't steal period. it's a waste of time. i bet the people who claim they steal lie because they have censor's built into there clothes. it's ridiculous. even if you steal from like sears or something it's pretty much a $400 fine or something like that. just buy your own clothes. i mean i love those stores, but they are too expensive. -just don't do it. it's dumb.

I hope you aren't planning to risk an arrest record like your peers. If caught, you leave in handcuffs and get hauled off in the backseat of a police vehicle. Shop lifting is a crime.

I live in Kansas, and if you rob $500+ here, it is a felony crime. And the store you are talking about is high dollar...
Besides, why rob clothes from a store? You wouldn't want someone to come rob clothes from you. Correct?

Somebody still pays for the items stolen- these somebodies are called the PAYING CUSTOMER. The company will raise prices to cover the profit lost.
Yah. They end up punishing the HONEST.

well those people can go suck eggs. chances are about 30%, but still, dont be like them and steal. i know two girls that were just like them allllllll the time. stole from abercrombie and hollister and never got caught. and one day, they did. and they got in big shit and they're not allowed in the mall anymore, and they stayed in jail for a day.
be smart, dont be like those jackers.

christina answered Thursday April 26 2007, 11:02 pm:
I don't suggest stealing from them because there could be a high chance of getting caught. Think about it, if you were to get things & walk into the dressing room with them & then walk out without them, wouldn't that be a little odd? That store is overpriced, yeah, but you still shouldn't steal because even if they are overpriced, stealing doesn't make it right. And besides, you wanna do it because of everyone else? Wow, how shallow. That's like saying you'd kill yourself if everyone else did. Start thinking for yourself sweetie, and buy your clothes.

I would suggest Not doing it.
1. TRENDY. those stores are the definition of trendy, not to mention overpriced.
2. Stealing. Kind of illegal ya know?
3. Just cause everyone else is doing it, why would you? If all of them jumped off a bridge...
4. To actually answer your question, it depends on the particular store. whether the manager bumped up the security.
