Alright, my mom says that I shouldn't be an actress because she doesn't want to see me waiting tables when I get older. But I love acting, it's what I do, I mean my nickname is basically Drama Queen. But now I don't like much attention, yet I still want to be an actress, that or do something with animals. Everyone says that I'm a great actress, and I'm waiting for for the play I always wanted to do, Romeo and Juliet. Ever since I was like 5, I wanted to do this play. But I think I should just end my acting career now. Who am I kidding, show buisness wants an actress to be beautiful and skinny, which im neither. What do you think I should do? Should I end my acting career?

OK?!?! good. now, since you are a good actress, try taking a few acting courses in the summer, then, take science for your highschool elective. Then, in college/ university, take vet courses. That way you can fall back on that. ok?just to add, you neeeeeed to get out there and show your mom she's wrong (who dosen't luv to prove their parents wrong, hmmm?) Try making up diff. scenes in your head, than doin them in front of the mirror, to get more comfortable acting. ok good. [ kitzykat's advice column | Ask kitzykat A Question ]
Moop answered Tuesday April 10 2007, 11:43 am: consider going for your dream to work with animals and doing theater as a side job. most mid-sized and larger cities have numerous acting groups (my city has about 8). get involved with them now and see how it feels. if you're still passionate about it by the time you have to go to college, then do acting, but I can almost guarantee that after a few years of nonstop shows you will burn out and not feel good and just want to sleep. skylarblue answered Tuesday April 10 2007, 9:30 am: if you really want to do acting, then go for it. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE SKINNY. Ever see queen latifa? shes amazing. If you wana go for a career in acting make sure of one important thing ::: BE COMFORTABLE WITH YOURSELF. Get yourself noticed for your courage and poise, but dont be snobby and inconfident. And you can work with animals, too. If your not acting at the moment, you could work part time somewhere that involves animals. [ skylarblue's advice column | Ask skylarblue A Question ]
xWACKYJACKIEx answered Tuesday April 10 2007, 9:22 am: If you set your mind too it, you can do anything you want. Most actresses aren't pretty, and skinny. Look at Q Latifa, she is not skinny at all. But because of it, look at the rolls she plays in movies. Take up some private acting study, or acting classes. I am sure you can find some in your area. Don't give up. I have been acting acting and singing since I was 4, and im getting better and better every day. I probably won't get anywhere, but hey, who knows?
charmed3fanatic answered Tuesday April 10 2007, 9:13 am: if you want to be an actress and are serious about it. go for it girlfriend. nothing shoudl hold you back from your hopes and dreams. but you should have a back up plan as well just in case the acting thing doesn't work for you [ charmed3fanatic's advice column | Ask charmed3fanatic A Question ]
Alin75 answered Tuesday April 10 2007, 8:51 am: Dreams are great and I think they should be pursued. However, its important not to put all your eggs in one basket. Your mother is looking out for you because she knows full well that the vast majority of actors are quite poor (financially). Then there is another group that makes a decent living, and only at the top of the top do we have the ones that rake in the real cash.
Now, I am pretty sure you are aware of this, and its something you should keep in mind as you go through life. If you make sure that you get an education, and that you develop other skills that you can fall back on, I would be very surprised if your mother would be against you developing your acting as well.
I dont think its a matter of being skinny and beautiful. I think its boils down to a mixture of skill and luck (and heavy on the latter I might add). So, if I were you, I would try to get involved in plays, take acting classes, etc. Figure out if this is really everything you had hoped it would be, and if you truly do have the talent to succeed. Just make sure that you keep your options open, and that you have backup plans in case something does not work out.
