Ratings
Maybe I'm just a person who feels this way, but when I give advice, half the people don't even respond to me, like give me a rating. Of course I know it's their decision to rate, but I really don't appreciate the fact that I spend a good amount of time answering a question, and the person doesn't rate me. Does anybody else feel this way?

But yeah, I don't give advice for ratings, I do it to help people, so hopefully you have those intentions. Ratings aren't everything! Maybe when they don't rate you it's because the advice wasn't what they were looking for but they were trying to be nice?

I just do this to help people, but yeah sometimes it does bother me, but either ways it won't ruin my day or mood because I know I tried to help them anyways. I take my time and usually write these longggggg answers to people(only if needed)!
But just keep in mind that you just want to help the person and the ratings don't matter that much, even though i get happy when someone rates my question...lol..

Yes! I absolutely feel the same way. I think that ratings can help to improve a columnist's advice. I rate everyone that answers my questions no matter how good or bad the advice is.

I don't really care for ratings. Just as long as I help someone to try & solve their problem or whatever. The ratings & feedback don't matter to me. That's not my reward.

yes and sometimes i feel i get under rated but thats there decision you know i may not always like it but i love giving advice so i guess you gotta take the good with the bad

hey, well i usually get ratings. when i dont get them for a question that i felt i answered to the best of my ability and gave a rather good answer, i get mad. most of the time people dont rate because the answer you gave isnt what they wanted to hear. other than that, there just lazy. on your advice column, write something like "i love getting feedback. its lets me know how well im doing my job. if i ever ask a question on the site i always rate. because you would want to know if you gave good adivce or not - right?". thats what i have on my column. it works well because i get a lot of ratings.

Sure it's annoying, but it's not something I let ruin my day. It's not that big of a deal. Sometimes you have to wait a few days for a rating too.
